251  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remember that Sims2 preview disc? on: 2006 January 11, 20:33:42
As I recall there were some ads that were basically animated movies, and the like, and had actions that you can't get in game, like the kids on the ceiling fan... however, this was a narration of someone playing the game itself.

I wish I got the fear of being cheated on memory. It must have to do with personality, because so far none of my Family Sims have gotten it...

I've tried to get gossip to 'alert' cheated-on Sims before because really, they can cheat in front of family members who don't go tell (and they have good relationship with) their relatives who were cheated on? Bahh. Also, with certain mods in now I'm having trouble getting a Sim to care that his lover just married his rival. May have to take them out temporarily so he'll get properly jealous - there's some times when it makes sense, and when your Family Sim high school sweetheart girlfriend has chosen her other lover to marry (thanks to higher chemistry and the fact they fell in love autonomously - it was hard to pick, though!), that's one of those times.
252  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Score Extra Date Points with Sims' Favorite Foods on: 2006 January 11, 17:15:57
I've been trying with the foods they think of, but oftentimes I miss them and the timer ticks away as you wait for them to come back up, and anyway, Sim, what's the point of ordering the same mac and cheese you've been making at home since you were a teenager?

I do get amused when they want to order just cake for dinner though.
253  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 11, 17:11:57
Oooh, that's some interesting info. I don't think I'd have more than a couple of Sims run a business, though, unless it was in their personality as I've figured it, but I like the other perks a lot. Making robots, and new clothes and hair. And a sprinkler to play in! *laugh*

Hopefully I won't get so excited about "new stuff new stuff new stuff!" like with the others, though, and can wait until the inevitable bugs are squashed most awesomely. The hack upset after NL has shown me that it's better to wait on all the new recolors and features that'll come up instead of suffering the bugs that new EPs always bring for a month or more...
254  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Remember that Sims2 preview disc? on: 2006 January 11, 16:57:29
I just had this thought on the way to work today - remember that preview disc, I think it came with Makin' Magic? There was one of the developers showing the way the game worked - I believe the scenario was a birthday party for Don's (?) son. I don't think he was exactly the same Don Lothario but as a teenager they showed he sure did act like him and with a Dina?

Anyway, at this party his wife, a Family Sim, had a fear of cheating (which I've never seen in mine yet, woo) and while the kid was growing up Don was making out with Dina in the house - and the wife's sister walked in, saw them, and went to tell her sister - and just telling her activated the fear of cheating and put her in desperation and the wife's sister attacked Dina - remember this?

What happened to the 'telling them about cheating' deal? Even if she had been directed to go over to her sister and it wasn't autonomous in that preview, how did she 'tell' her? Gossip? I've had a daughter congratulate her father on cheating right next to her mother and nothing happened Tongue Gossip about cheating is apparently supposed to affect the Sim involved if they just hear about it, at least according to the Prima guide, but we all know the guide is not exactly reality.

Did something happen to this feature, or did it never exist in that sense, or what? It was a movie, so you can watch it happening as it happens, and in the base game at that...

I'll see what I can do about the scholarship thing - maybe this weekend or the next - time permitting.  Watch the website.  Is it just the top-of-teen-career scholarship that is affected or all scholarships?  Maybe someone can just PM me the details.  I don't want to hijack El Presidente's bandwidth by fielding support issues.  There's already enough mentions of the unmentionable to warrant a room full of lips I'm certain.

Risking my lips - it's just the job scholarship that's affected. You get a message that since the Sim is no longer at the top of the career track, they've lost the scholarship.
256  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddlers are allowed to date? on: 2006 January 11, 01:46:59
Moral: Do Not Marry Right After A Dream Date. At least, don't marry your date...

Heh! I had a couple do just that, but she just went and left her flowers on the back patio *eyeroll*

Finally got a Sim to not leave flowers but a present again. It wasn't a Dream Date, though, but just a Great Date... well, I'll take it anyway, heh!
257  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddlers are allowed to date? on: 2006 January 09, 23:53:25
I only get gifts if I have just 1 outing or date in that (sim)day. I think the game gets confused if you have more than one date or outing.  Smiley

Hmmm. I don't usually do dates that much... and these were all on different Sim days, too. I know sometimes the auto-greet intercepts them before they can do that amusing creeping up thing but I didn't see that here. Oh well...
258  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This can't be good on: 2006 January 09, 23:51:07
Goodness people. No need to get all uppity and flame. If you're getting your teens pregnant, that's your own business.

I asked: What are the benefits of getting your teens pregnant? Answer it.

Just off the top of my head, it'd allow a Family Sim mother to complete her ten children want without use of the elixir *shrug* But I agree with the above, whatever allows the player to accomplish the story they have in mind is a benefit to me.
259  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Phone invite issue on: 2006 January 09, 23:28:52
This is the same problem I mentioned in the phonehack thread and I posted my log there too - I was wondering if I was the only one with that. I'll try removing the bringrealfriends also, though I don't think it's an old version as I never even used it until pretty recently. It's still occuring and I made sure I have the latest versions of everything as far as I know.

260  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddlers are allowed to date? on: 2006 January 09, 23:04:25
Not a toddler, but I had some strangeness (for me) involving dates happen just last night. Romance Sim asked out a friend she had no bolts for, they had a Dream Date. He calls the next night, wants to do it again. So, they have another Dream Date. The next night - he calls again! I have her decline and the phone rings immediately after with his sister wanting an outing, graah. I've never had that happen, and I've had several Dream Dates - they all had bolts, though, and this couple didn't. So strange. I've gotten a few outing calls before after a Dream Date and a few regular calls to chat from the datee, but never a 'let's have another date' call, let alone twice.

I played his house in between the first and second date and they went steady there (red memory for her!) but otherwise the dates were all the contact they had. Perhaps he was just very impressed with the public woohoo. In that case he should quit dropping roses and start dropping the expensive gifts! What's happened to that!? I haven't seen it in forever...
261  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This can't be good on: 2006 January 09, 22:52:40
I've had no problems with it either - it makes it work quite naturally, and when the teens do get pregnant they're temporarily adults, so they get the adult wants - and I've been able for some to lock the 'have a baby' or various woohoo wants so they can fulfill those. The only thing I wish for now would be to actually see the bolts the teens have for adults and vice-versa - they will show it via the thought bubbles but not in the menu so it's hard to tell sometimes. I once realized a teen was pregnant when I noticed she had bolts for adults on her panel!

Also, I wonder what the percentage for the Risky Woohoo is using Inteen? I -did- read the manual, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I usually use WooHoo instead of Try as a surprise/birth control method (having Quiet Pregnancy installed also), but they seem to be falling prey to the Risky more often now than when I used the old standalone Risky hacks. Don't usually mind these unexpected pregnancies except when NPCs are involved, though. (They're romance Sim fodder only in my game.) *snerk*
262  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ARRRGH!! Sick of Blue Nurseries!!! on: 2006 January 09, 19:40:45
I usually let them have whatever comes up, though occasionally I've restarted if I had one gender in mind for a plotline, and it's never straight-out refused to change. However, I have run up against the so-called 'randomizer' in a stretch of girls, then boys, and then fairly recently a run of Twins for Everyone!!1! So, yeah, I'm not too impressed by Maxis' randomizer, though that's a known issue. *grin*

A couple times, when I've forgotten to save before the birth and I reaaallly want a particular one, I've gone so far as to delete the 'wrong' kid and do a hacked immediate delivery pregnancy so I can restart if I have to, but I don't do that often since it's a pain to edit all the telepathic memories of every relative Tongue
263  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Zombies on: 2006 January 07, 17:12:49
I made my first zombie, too, for a movie which I eventually realized I'll never finish Tongue He died accidentally and his mother lost to the reaper, and since I haven't had any real accidental deaths that I haven't been able to save, I was just gonna leave him dead. Now I wish I did, sorta Tongue It doesn't help that I've downloaded an extra nasty zombie default replacement *smirk* but he was a Romance teen and now... uh... yeah. I'm not gonna let that go on. I may as well just kill him again and let him lie... :\
264  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Brandi Broke's Third Child?? on: 2006 January 07, 16:49:20
The one thing I got TSE for was the genetics editing - everything else is more easily done in SimPe for me, but my three custom skins (which I made with the downloaded Bodyshop before the game actually came out) were getting glitchy and the hair categorization had replaced the scalp textures and several of my Sims had lost their normal skin for no reason - even one who had started with a Maxis skin!

SimPe's SimSurgery would not take for skins, nohow, and I was despairing. TSE fixed the skin problem so easily, though - easily enough that I remade my custom skins and reassigned them several times till I got them the way I wanted. So, yeah. I still use SimPe for just about everything except genetics changing/fixing...
265  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn glitchy fridge! on: 2006 January 06, 21:07:16

Dizzy2 has the Daily & Weekly Burglar hack if you're interested.  I have never tried it myself, but maybe it will spice up your gameplay. Wink
http://www5.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=72344

He also has a Daily & Weekly Burglar/Arsonist that not only burglarizes your sims, but randomly sets fires too.   Shocked

Thanks - I may try the weekly one, as the daily one seems way too predictable (not to mention unrealistic!), heheh.
266  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn glitchy fridge! on: 2006 January 06, 08:53:15
On the subject of burglars:  I haven't seen one in my game in *ages*.  I don't make any special effort to include burglar alarms in my houses, and most of my Sims are pretty rich so they have plenty of things to steal.  But I haven't seen a burglar since well before Nightlife.

Karen

Same for me - I've had a grand total of one burglary since the game came out, and it was well before Uni - none since. I've taken to leaving burglar alarms off since the description of the alarms says they help prevent burglaries; they're so rare that I'd rather the Sims experience something different every once in a while, heh. There are somewhere between 15-20 houses I play now... maybe one of these days I'll have a burglar again, sigh. I don't want it to be predictable, but something higher than the tiny percentage it seems to be now would be nice.
267  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: These hacks from TwoJeffs appear to be empty archives on: 2006 January 06, 08:20:47
WinRar occasionally gives me the same thing after I've been downloading from MTS2 - I'm on a very slow dialup, so it takes forever for things like hair recolors. I always have to watch it closely because often it'll stop near the end of a download, and that's when I get that error and have to redownload. Always a pain when it's so close to completing. Hacks usually download so quickly though because they're so small, so I have no idea why it would do that here, if that indeed is the case.
268  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 06, 06:43:53
I shall probably end up getting it, even if I'm not at all interested in the business part of it, just for the new content like the items (yay kids' stuff!) and hair. I seriously don't want any more townies, though - I just got rid of all the downtownies, finally, and editing all those memories sucked! I've had one neighborhood only since the game came out, and it's large enough as it is without even MORE random townies I won't allow them to waste time with anyway when there's hundreds of neighbors that I've watched grow up and actually have an attachment to.
269  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why. won't. he. just. die? on: 2006 January 05, 23:49:13
I did the die of fright thing too with a child, and the tombstone didn't appear either. I used an assignable grave mod from MTS2 (no idea if it's compatible with NL, though) to give him a grave. The kid ghosts created by things that they don't usually die from are pretty creepy - they don't float, but walk a bit, freeze but their head looks around all jerkily, disappear, reappear somewhere else... one kid I killed off by electrocution was the same way, though he kept repeating his death throes all around the lot, falling down and twitching, once by someone's bed while they were sleeping - freeeaky. I sent his grave to the cemetary so I'm not sure if he still does that now...

The miscarriage thing is definitely Inteen, has something to do with their needs being low for a long time. I had a 'close call' with one of my Sims and I didn't even know she was pregnant, nor were her needs all that low, except she was at work so that might have had something to do with it. One of the others I used to see what happens and to fix a perma-pregnant bug, and the bad effects of that memory last a looong time - she's permaplat but three Sim days later she still refuses to use skillbuilding items and has nightmares even though her moods are all green. Kind of strange compared to how little Maxis has made them be affected by the deaths of other Sims...
270  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CAS Elder dying before life meter full on: 2006 January 03, 20:49:00
I've noticed with married elder couples too, where one has a longer expectancy because of transitions, but because the meter doesn't count down anymore, but counts days lived, the meter will move the same until the first elder dies, and then it rolls back on the second to account for the time the second one has left. I always assumed it was so we couldn't predict exactly how many days any given elder had, perversely enough - and I try not to look in SimPe either, so it'll be somewhat of a surprise, though if you have one elder on a lot it's pretty easy to predict when from the meter.
271  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help stretch skeleton on: 2006 January 03, 20:00:04
Done, and it works perfectly. The odds with the animation is no worse than what I've gotten used to in an adult-teen relationship, and it looks so much more real now to have varied heights.
272  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help stretch skeleton on: 2006 January 02, 20:12:12
I have a hypothesis that it may be changable permanently (for the current lifestage, anyhow) by editing the character file directly in SimPE... I noticed a line for stretchskeleton the last time I was editing a character file, and the number value for it is the same as what one would input with the cheat. However, I haven't played with it yet, so I don't know what horrible things it might do to a character or neighborhood. I really should look into that the next time I can be arsed to create an expendable neighborhood.

That would indeed be interesting to experiment with - I may have to try it myself also. Will give me an excuse to remember to back up my game again...
273  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help stretch skeleton on: 2006 January 02, 19:59:14
Too bad it can't be applied to certain Sims permanently (as I'm sure has been mentioned many times before in many places). Not even with those startup cheats? Hmm. I guess it wouldn't know which Sim to apply the stretchskeleton to, as I'm assuming you have to have the one you want selected when you enter the cheat.
274  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: All my plans Ruined! on: 2006 January 02, 18:41:03
I'm having something similar go on, too. My very first born in-game Sim is a couple days away from elder, and she's never dated or been in love with any other Sim but her husband, and the same with him. They've never cheated (after my cheat-tastic first few generations, I decided someone had to be faithful!) and I planned for them to never cheat. She has two bolts for her husband so I was pretty satisfied with that. She's Family and he's Fortune.

So, of course, she brings home a co-worker, another Family Sim, and they have three bolts. *sigh*

He's married, too, and hasn't cheated since he got married. I tend to not allow that anymore, but let them date around before marriage all they want. Anyway, right now they've been spinning up all their wants for each other, but there's been no autonomous flirting and I hope with the romance mod in place any such flirting will be rejected. Too bad, guys! Sometimes you miss out on your true soulmate! That's life!
275  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I've never seen this want before-is it common? on: 2006 January 02, 18:07:44
I've seen a few wants for the PJs/undies before, also in Romance Sims and mostly when they come home from work. I have also only seen the magazine want once before, and that was when I selected a ghost to see if he still got memories of things going on on the lot.
