251  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bed Jumping? Error Log on: 2006 February 22, 02:15:11
Ah sorry I wasn't very clear when posting this last night. Got in hurry up, post, get to bed mode and didn't complete my thoughts.

The problem is easily solved with replacing the bed with a new one (the same bed, didn't need a Maxis one).
It was causing a "jump bug".

Yes, ZZ, the sim has 2 younger siblings. I thought they were both otherwise occupied when I began packing up the furniture. Maybe not, though, going by the error log.

Anyway I was posting it because I thought it was a rather curious glitch and might come in handy for future references, or something, or that if it was something along the lines of a typo it might catch the attention of those more awesome than myself who are weeding through the patch.
I'd consider it a "woops" that an interaction with an object is carried with it into the inventory and off to a new lot. I've never run into it previously - it seemed to me like all objects, once placed in an inventory, reset themselves to a default state of non-use.

252  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Bed Jumping? Error Log on: 2006 February 21, 05:37:45
Background : Clare just moved out with her newly born baby Lucien into some ghetto apartments downtown. She is a teenager with 3 days left to adulthood. I brought her furniture from the family house with her. Before moving out all was well with Clare, her bed, and the new baby for a full sim day.
This error is happening with her bed, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with the "fix" Maxis made to the inventory.

InTeen does work and Jase added a fix to his page for one of the changes made with the patch that was affecting InTeen (the YA male pregnancy from the sphere). It's an optional fix. He's also given an explanation there to the one other possible conflict and that he's determining if it actually needs a hotfix.

I myself have had no problems with InTeen since patching other than a lack of new homeless kittens coming into the shelter for adoption - unless it's inTeen that is somehow causing my sims to graduate and not get diplomas but I highly doubt it.

I also have not run into any of the other problems I originally mentioned seeing happen since the first night playing after patching. Those could easily be attributed to a groups.cache that needed trashing.

A Nudist Mod can be found in The Cracker Barrel section on the new site/page for InTeen: http://mysite.verizon.net/aestudios/sims2/index.htm

I don't know hether this is the "HotFix" talked about or if it is an entirely different nudist mod but there's the link in any case.

Great idea and I'll definately try it out.

I have to agree I think it would be a good idea to actually include all the skills in some form, if it would be possible. You know.. you've got your home ec types (cooking and maybe cleaning), your shop types (mechanical), the jocks (body), drama and the arts (charisma, creativity), as well as the logical types who excel in sciences and mathmatics.
Or would that be making it too easy again?

Perhaps a way to cap things in relation to certain skills?
Talking out of my wazoo here. I'm not the logical sort. Wink

I've forgotten what it is and I really miss it, it's very useful if you want to return to a certain vantage point after dealing with some other situation.  Anyone know what it is?

That what you mean?

The one posted above is NL compatable... at least I somehow managed to download a compatable version. I use it. Works just like it says it does.

No idea how it would work on a community lot as I've never tried it but I imagine if it were able to be placed on the lot it would work just like in a residence.

I've been wanting such a hack myself for a good long while. The keumungo (or whatever it's called) is the only one I've ever found.

since installing it dining is impossible (I get a jump bug shortly after my Sims sit down).
Initial suspect is twojeffs' "No Autonomous Napping.package" -- the error is in tree 'EP2 - Interaction - Nap Nested - TEST'. Please let me know if you also experience this bug since installing the patch.

I have TJ's no napping hack also and have had no problems with dining, Jordi. Something else causeing the jumping maybe?
Thinking of hacks that affect eating I also have "noeatcrap"  and the "antifoodnapping" and CrammyBoy's com lot serve one. No problems there.

So far the only problems I have run into are the ones I already posted.

The piano does indeed seem to be fixed but I haven't tested it extensively and all houses that currently have a piano in them are new.

I did note the social motive for dancing solo is still broke - not that they mentioned fixing it but sometimes they surprise you.. Syberspunk's fix for that stays in.

Haven't hit the final exam bug but then I never got it when it was originally found to be a problem either.
260  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: For those BBS-phobics....there's a new patch out. on: 2006 February 10, 18:02:06
Things I've noticed after installing the patch:

Voice to Animation is still screwed up when there is more than one sim talking.

If a uni student starts to Go To Class and I cancel the action, the At Class icon remains on their thumbnail until I allow them to go to class and return again.

A very strange drag walk ...looks like it's happening where that strange stuck in motion animation would have before, now though they drag themselves through the animation in slow motion.

"Jumping" to another action. Example: I had one sim eating dinner at the kitchen table. She finished and decided to play some chess. Stood up, pushed in the chair and then warped to the chess table where she was already pulling out the chair to sit down.

Didn't have much time to play last night but will today and will probably come back with more findings.

262  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Changing Dominant/Recessive Values on Skin and Eyes on: 2006 February 09, 22:52:57
Yes double checking, in the Skin Tone XML, the line genetic (dtSingle) that is set to 0 for custom skins. This is where, instead of 1, 2, 3 or 4 you would enter .10, .30, .60 or .90?

263  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Changing Dominant/Recessive Values on Skin and Eyes on: 2006 February 09, 22:26:20
Oh good thread!

aqualectrix, sorry if this is an overly idiotic question but, about the skintone genetics and the .10 , .30 , etc. Does that mean rather than changing the genetic from 0 to 1, 2, 3 or 4 it is alright to actually use the decimals? Or does that mean just relate your numbers above to 1 - 4?

Tried your link, JaneSIms and am getting an invalid thread notice. :/

Ok, just to be sure then, this:

Fixed a problem that caused pianos that have been owned for a certain amount of time to cease providing fun.

is not actually fixed, correct?

I don't remember it being in the first Uni patch but then it was a long time ago when I read it and I recall that the piano really doesn't seem to be fun at all no matter if it's brand spanking new or been owned for a good long while without JM's piano fix.

That juggling one is the main thing keeping me from patching until the word is out here one what's really fixed. I don't want to remove CrammyBoy's fix just to find out Maxis still didn't get it right.

If I want a no jealousy hack, I want to download one package that disables the jealousy function.
If I want a casual romance hack, I want to download one package that enables casual romance.

I do not want to download a whole bunch of crap that I don't want, just because it's attatched to the function I do want.

I want teen woohoo, teen pregnancy, the ability to speed up, hold or abort pregnancies, Risky Woohoo, no loss of a teenage love when transitioning to adult, a quick simple way to fix the junk townie bug, multiple concurrent committed relationships for all ages, and an easy breakup option.
All that happens to come together in one very nicely done add-on.

I don't want to have to download 10+ seperate hacks that may or may not work together to get the same effect.

Guess it's a good thing there are options for those who don't and those who do from different modders.

Really doesn't make sense to me at all why people feel they need to rip a persons way of doing these things so vehemently simply because they disagree. Don't like it? Ok don't fucking download it, go get your seperates. I'm sure they're out there and if they're not someone somewhere would probably be happy to whip 'em up for you. Others will be happy that Inteen comes the way it does because that's what they're looking for(and hope that he updates for OFB inspite of assholes who feel if it's not catered to their exact blueprint of what they deem fit then it must be a piece of shit).

Now feel free to ignore all that because it's late, long overdue, and probably already been said by several others in this thread thankyou I'm off to finish catching up on other new posts elsewhere.

NYAA!!

I think the point of bad taste is that many times bad taste = a damn good laugh. Watching randomtownie5001 walk past the mall in dress shoes, knee high socks, plaid  green shorts, a long sleeve red check button up, and a cowboy hat gives me a good chuckle. Since I'd never download such an esemble myself I thank Maxis for having bad taste.

I'm hoping upon hope of hopes that Maxis will be including the ability to add levels on top of levels.. or at least a cheat for it.

http://snootysims.com/hunter-mail2.php

*sniffles*Now I know that the modding community came out with these ideas a good long while ago but I can't help but get a little warm fuzzy that Maxis finally decided to include these options as defaults. My architect self just says JOY! The split level feature is looking especially nice. No more gapping holes for certain leveled stair cases. Oh yes.

Next expansion.. Spiral Stairs! Woo!
272  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default Replacement Skins on: 2006 February 05, 04:16:00
Just wanted to post on what I just did for myself for a new alien default - thought others might like to know.

I wanted Enayla's Unearthly Jade for my new alien default, so to start I used the method SleepyCat outlined to create a default replacement file.
Then I opened the file in SimE and exported all of the images. I changed the eyes to the alien black on all the images in my image editor.
Then I opened up another already made default replacement file to use as a template (the one I used happened to be Sim Scribblings Alien Default Replacement by PattyMcPat) and replaced all the images with my altered Jade images via BuildDXT.

Viola. New default with no original file needed in the DL folder for it to work.

edit to add - it seems Enayla's skin doesn't have all the different fit styles included (at least the default file SimPE created from it didn't) so I ended up just putting the same fit style over all the fit styles available on my sim scribbling default. I'm not sure if this is because Enayla didn't make different fitness levels or because of something SimPE did to the file when making it a default because I didn't look through Enayla's skin before defaulting it but anyway... there's a short cut. Could probably skip the creating a default from the skin part first but it just seemed to make it easier to find the textures that way.

Angelynne... /drool

So what I think I get from all this is an AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+ with HyperTransport Technology would be faster than Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 650 w/ HT Technology 3.4GHz because 3500 basically = 3.5Ghz and would be better because of the longer life expectancy and better customer support and service.

I just went through and configured the Aurora 500. It ends up actually being $48 less than the Area 51.  Cheesy
274  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need lesson in CPU on: 2006 February 03, 22:40:24
Wow am I glad this thread popped up. I'm getting ready to buy a new system myself.
This one to be exact

Alienware Area51 5500
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 650 w/ HT Technology 3.4GHz 800MHz FSB 2MB
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
1-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support w/ Onsite Service
Alienware® Full-Tower Chassis   Conspiracy Blue
Alienware® AlienIce™ 2.0 Video Cooling   Astral Blue
Alienware® nForce™4 SLI™ Intel Edition Chipset Motherboard PCI Express SLI
256MB PCI-Express x16 NVIDIA® GeForce™ 7800 GT
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz - 2 x 512MB
High Performance   80GB Serial ATA 7,200 RPM w/8MB Cache
16x DVD-ROM Drive with Software DVD Decoder
52x32x52x CD-RW Drive
Creative Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 ZS High Definition 7.1 Surround Firewire
3.5" 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive - Black
Alienware® Respawn Recovery Kit
No Monitor
No Keyboard
No Mouse

Total: $1,889.00

-------------

So now I have some curiousities. I went with the Area51 Pentium instead of the Aurora AMD Athlon because of the processor speed comparisons:

Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 650 w/ HT Technology 3.4GHz 800MHz FSB 2MB
Processor Speed 3.4 GHz
System Bus Speed 800 MHz
Level 2 Cache 2 MB

compared to

AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+ with HyperTransport Technology
Frequency 2.2 GHz
Bus Frequency 2000 MHz
Level 1 Cache 128 KB
Level 2 Cache 512 KB Advanced Transfer

or

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-55 with HyperTransport Technology
Frequency 2.6 GHz
Bus Frequency 2000 MHz
Level 1 Cache 128 KB
Level 2 Cache 1 MB Advanced Transfer

So since most here seem to prefer the Athlon... does that mean it's the Bus Frequency that actually makes the difference in performance?
I'm not really up on my comp knowledge here either but I would like to get the best I can for my money, and the Aurora w/ AMD is not much more than the Area51 w/ Pentium4 when configured with the other things I would want on it.
275  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default Replacement Skins on: 2006 February 01, 23:02:48
It worked. I used the build DXT as suggested. Came out much better that way. Smiley And now that I know how to do that I feel I'm about to go on a photoshopping spree.
