226  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Uni+LS Career LTWs on: 2007 June 20, 20:31:20
Do the two careers overwrite the Seasons careers of the same/similar name, or are these added on so that there are 2 types of entertainment and gamer careers?

If they overwrite, what advantages are there to doing so?

The RTFM leads me to think that it is an overwrite since it talks about the possibly of the career reverting to the Seasons version after installation. At first, I thought it was for enabling these careers for those who don't have Seasons, but the first post clearly states we must have Seasons.
227  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims Evolving Meal Habits on: 2007 June 20, 19:37:33
I'm using the store food one, but if you use the other one with TwoJeff's 'food already available' fix then Sims can never cook autonomously as long as leftovers are available.

I use leftovers for pregnant Sims because they are usually overly tired and hungry, and for children who may be left with a nanny for short periods of time. So I really don't want them to use the leftovers up first.  Often for pregnant Sims, I'll prepare one of the sparkly type meals, and then put all the plates into the fridge as leftovers for them.

Food is cheap compared to the amount of money in the game, so leftovers aren't a way for me to save money, but rather have something available to those who can't or don't have time to cook for themselves.
228  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims Evolving Meal Habits on: 2007 June 20, 18:54:38
mine wait for food and stuff face, but not near as often as they start another meal.

This happens to me constantly; one sim cooking a group meal, and it seems regardless of the cooking stage, another one will try to start cooking something else. (I try to knock it off their queue whenever it happens, but sometimes I'm a little slow on the mouse.) I rarely see "wait for food" anymore.  I don't think I've seen it since before installing Seasons.

I make most of my sims four or five bars on neat and it's rare to see them Stuff Face.

That is what's happening. I didn't mean to imply that they never wait for food. But food prep stage of the other Sim doesn't appear to affect it. In earlier EPs they would wait for food as long as another Sim removed something from the fridge. Now they head for the fridge even when a server is heading towards the table with the serving platter still in hand.

As far as stuff face, I'm aware that it is personality based. However, those who stuffed their face with earlier EPs didn't do it near as often as they do since Seasons was installed.

Last night I realized that it isn't just the server that pauses before being seated. Four sims waited next to their chairs and then sat down just before the server did. Two more Sims joined them a few seconds later. Later joining Sims never do the pause.

I don't want noautonomous cooking. I want them to cook, but do like they did before and 'wait for food' if food is already being prepared. I like them cooking autonomously, but I notice that they make food for themselves far more often than they serve. I can put up with it though since they gain skill with it.
229  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims Evolving Meal Habits on: 2007 June 19, 18:30:14
I don't have the best memory, but after we started playing Sims2 or adding one of the early EPs, I remember that Sims who were hungry were able to realize that another householder was already in the midst of preparing a meal, so instead of heading for the fridge they would sit at the table and "wait for food". They no longer do this.

For awhile now, Sims have been ignoring the fact that another family member is cooking and will head to the fridge to start another meal. I think this started around the same time that Sims started getting obsessed with "stuff face". I wouldn't mind if a hungry Sim just stuffed their face while waiting for the meal to get done, but they are starting a whole new meal.

Another thing I noticed, which I think started with Seasons, is the Sims waiting for other family members to join them at the table. But it happens even if the Sim lives alone or is alone in the house at the time (not counting infants and toddlers).

The serving Sim will place the plates on the table, sit the serving platter on the table instead of a counter, unless the served plates took up too much table room. Then they will stand next to their chosen chair for awhile waiting for the rest of the family to join them (I assume, since nothing is in their queue). Finally, they will sit down to eat whether or not anyone else has joined them.

So what's with the wait? I could understand if I clicked on the serving platter and called the family to dinner, but it happens all the time, even if the Sim is dining alone. Often this isn't a big deal, but sometimes Sims are pressed for time, and/or starving and need to start eating immediately.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think it also happens if a Sim prepares just a single serving for themselves. However, if I tell them to retrieve a leftover, they sit down and eat it immediately.

Is there a way to return to the way it was, where Sims don't start another meal if one is in preparation? Is there a way to stop Sims from waiting so long before sitting down to eat unless the rest of the family has been called to dinner or other Sims have 'eat' in their queue? Or failing that, just stop with the stupid waiting before eating?

Only MATY food mods are installed.
230  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 19, 06:00:54
I applied the patch, removed snsp1decay from my Downloads, and played for a couple hours. It seems they actually fixed the crying babies. Fun isn't bottoming out anymore.

I only had one odd thing happen, but I couldn't duplicate it. A mom (not pregnant) got up in the morning on the first day of Summer, and did mundane things around the house. She never went outside. When I got the announcement that the carpool was due, I checked on her. She was playing with the infant, which vomited on her and bottomed out her hygeine. She then went into the bathroom where BUY took over. When the carpool arrived, I checked her again to see if she had time to finish her shower before the carpool left. I was surprised to see her temperature guage in the red, although it wasn't maxed out (about 3/4 full). I didn't notice it a few moments before when I checked her, but I wasn't really paying any attention to her temp since there appeared to be no reason to do so.

I had her husband attempt to do all the actions that I remember her doing that morning, but I never did get his temp to rise. I got the baby to vomit on him, but it only lowered his hygeine about 1/3 rather than bottoming it out like happened on mom. Also, mom had been nursing the baby that morning, which dad could not do.

So basically, things look good with the new patch, although I need to keep an eye on things to find out where this weird temperature rise came from. I thought that they didn't get temp changes if they were in the house. She never did anything that morning like get in a hot tub or work out, so I don't have an explanation for it yet.

I have the standard MATY hacks, including warmth fixes.

232  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 June 18, 03:19:21
Maxis will add a new way to die that is specific to the EP, such as being eaten by a bear. You are only supposed to be able to die this way when actually on vacation.

When a Sim goes on vacation, he will die from one of the other reasons (hit by lightning, combustion, starvation, etc.) This will confuse the game because although the programmers were told to make this death available only to Sims on vacation, they didn't take into consideration that Sims would still be able to die from the usual causes. This puts the game into an endless loop of dying, then jumping back to alive status, then dying again.

If you manage to ctl>alt>del out of the game, on next reload, your Sim will still be on vacation and in the dying loop because of the new auto save feature that Maxis introduced. It is supposed to automatically save your game when a Sim has critical motives and are moments from death, but actually kicks in when the Sim is in the process of dying with Grim on the lot.

Meanwhile, back in the regular hood, a Sim will do something entirely innocent and non-dangerous such as viewing a new deco item and it will kill the Sim by the new death, which is not supposed to happen in the regular hood ever. This Sim will actually die rather than go through the loop, but the tombstone disappears immediately. Some Sims will remember the death, while others will still think that the Sim is alive and keep rolling wants to interact with them. When another family goes on vacation, the missing tombstones will be there and there will be no way to interact with them. Jump bugs happen whenever one of these ghosts try to go haunting because they are supposed to be haunting their home lot instead of the comm lot that their tombstones are actually on.

Saving leftovers while on vacation is silly, and Maxis will pat themselves on the back because they realized this and disabled leftover storage while on vacation. This however, was totally unnecessary as fridges can't be bought on vacation lots. This completely borks the leftover system already in place. Many leftovers will magically disappear. Later you play a newly moved-in family and find the missing leftovers in their fridge. This spawns new corrupted gossip spam that shows up in the memories of toddlers who have been given Smart Milk.

The programmers have also run out of new monsters to turn Sims into. So this EP's 'monster' will be a Yeti. If you get a high enough LTR with the Yeti while on vacation, you will have the option to bring it home with you. However, it will be more useless than a Servo and more hassle than a pet. It will randomly revert to its pre-adopted behavior of roaring to scare the tourists, much like Sims who used to be a cheerleader will revert to their cheering behavior even after your Sim marries one of them. The roaring will cause visitors to leave and parties to suddenly end because it causes such a huge bladder hit to Sims, who start peeing themselves and leaving the lot.

When the BBS sheep attempt to cross this new monster with one or more of the older ones (don't they always?), the layers will be applied in the wrong order so that they lose their fur and look like a drowned cat. Yetis will freeze easier than all other Sim types, making you wonder how it managed to live in those snowy mountains all those years before you adopted it. Yet they will hog the hot tub from your Sims almost continually, and show no ill affects. Although Yetis will have both genders, they will not be able to breed because each lot can only have one Yeti on it and breeding with visiting Yetis is not allowed. The pre-release screen shots will feature plenty of baby Yetis running happily around their Yeti parents.

Yetis won't be allowed on Uni lots, just like the Servos, so teens whose parents have died and left a Yeti in the house will not be allowed to go to college. Yeti's cannot be given up for adoption since they are neither pet nor Sim, and who would want to give up one of these lovable muppets anyway?  So once you get one, you won't be able to get rid of it without Inge's teleporter bush, which has also stopped working with this EP.

The pedophile furries will work as intended by Maxis, stalking your kids until they go insane from aspiration failure. If your Sim marries one of these, they will from time to time, put on their costumes and stalk their own children.
233  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unneeded Coats on: 2007 June 16, 23:11:19
This makes no sense. In an earlier post I reported on a toddler outside in the snow in casual clothes for 6 hours with no change in temperature.

I go to another lot and a toddler finds a toy that I had left on the front porch while I was rearranging the furniture. After a short while playing with the toy, her temp was in the blue and I brought her inside.

Although I didn't make an actual temperature comparison between the two lots, I'm assuming that the toddler in the snow was actually in a higher temp range than the other who got cold. But still, if it is cold enough to have snow on the ground, anyone wearing casual clothes while playing in it for 6 hours should have had some type of temperature drop.
234  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 16, 23:05:22
I went to another household with toddlers and active, non-pregnant parents. They had to mess with the toddlers off and on all day just to keep their social high enough. It was a little easier since the parents' motives weren't dropping as fast.

The toddlers' hygeine seems to be worse too, but maybe they get dirtier in one day now because they spend it awake and on the floor.
235  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 16, 22:46:24
I have the screaming babies. Never had them before in unpatched or P1-now I have them. I have also noticed my toddlers are awake all day now!

Wait, that's a BAD thing?

Everything in Emma's post is what happened to me.

I had extremely lazy parents in one household. On top of that, mom was pregnant. The toddlers woke at 6am and stayed awake until 2am! The father had to take one nap and mom two naps before the day was out, but the toddlers were like energizer bunnies. I finally dropped Toddler sleep blankets on the floor so the parents didn't have to get up again just to put them to bed.

For some reason the toddlers social motives are dropping quickly. For the first time ever, I got a warning that it was a very bad thing to let toddlers social get that low. It said something about them not growing up well, but I made mom get out of bed just to talk to the toddlers again in case it was warning me that the social worker might pick them up if I didn't fix the problem. Their aspirations were fine, it was just social that was really low.

If the toddlers just drank some milk and then skilled all day, it wouldn't be a problem. But the parents are having to actively mess with them throughout the day just to keep them in decent shape.

I've never seen sunburn. Are there any ill affects?
237  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unneeded Coats on: 2007 June 13, 23:12:29
I don't think toddlers are able to change their clothes on their own.

I had a toddler this morning that kept insisting on going outside to play in the snow, and of course didn't have on outerwear since she was doing it autonomously. I kept an eye on her and after spending 6 hours outside in casual dress, snow up to her neck, (she can't walk yet) her temperature guage never moved. In the meantime, her dad was building a snowman, while wearing a coat, and had to go inside to warm up after just a short while.

So I'm wondering if toddlers aren't affected by temperature and the outerwear is just for show?
238  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unneeded Coats on: 2007 June 12, 17:30:28
Regarding my earlier post about Sims going outside in freezing weather without coats, I pulled this mod from my game and it just got weirder. Sims are putting on coats more often, but still not making sense. Dad goes outside autonomously and puts on a coat. The toddler decides to go outside to play with the dog and doesn't put one on, and these events were almost simultaneous so the temp would have been the same.  Sometimes they are going out in -92 weather without coats, and other times they are going out in -4 with coats.

The only recent mod I've added is dailygardener and I don't see how that would mess me up. I'll have to do a binary search, although that could take awhile since I'll have to wait long enough on each reload to get a sense of their behavior. So, let me ask, do Sims behave the same (regarding coat wearing) whether they do it autonomously or are directed to do something? In other words, if one Sim autonomously builds a snowman and (does or doesn't wear a coat), will a Sim directed to build a snowman make the same coat decision?
239  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unneeded Coats on: 2007 June 11, 20:33:48
What is this freezing thing about, anyway?  I had a couple of 3-bolter YA's, the male in everyday wear and the female in a bikini (post hot-tub) keep freezing over & over again, but there didn't seem to be any ill effects.

Although I've seen several posters saying that nothing bad happens to frozen Sims, my first freezing resulted in near death for a visitor. I had male and female dorms. I was playing the male dorm and one Sim made a booty call. They did it in the outside hot tub. When they exited the tub, there was a fight going on so they immediately started watching the fight. There was a long lag when she froze and turned blue. Next thing I know Grimmy is there. I thought someone died in the fight, but the fight continued and I saw the bikini clad girl curled up on the sidewalk. I had her boyfriend plead with him, but I had to keep canceling out "freeze" in his queue to do so.

That's why I worried when my sick, pregnant (first trimester) Sim went outside to build a snowman without putting on a coat when the temp was so low. Also, I'm using the real sickness mod and I don't know whether freezing has an effect on illness or not.

And is it my imagination, or does freezing mess up a Sim's portrait so that you can never get the same look again after reverting to normal? (using regenerate portrait)
240  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unneeded Coats on: 2007 June 11, 05:33:42
Tonight I had a sick Sim autonomously decide to go outside and build a snowman. It was -82 outdoor temperature and she went out without a coat. Within a few seconds, she was blue. A little later that evening, her husband went outside to play with the dog. It was -97 and he didn't put on a coat either, although I managed to get him inside before he turned blue.

Am I missing something? Does this only work if I have a coat rack near the door?
241  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Pregnant Sims Wearing Wrong Hair in Seasons on: 2007 June 10, 03:24:22
I'm having a problem with about half of my Sims sporting the wrong hairstyle from the moment they start showing in their pregnancy until they give birth. Their thumbnail retains the correct hairstyle, however.

All of my custom hairstyles have already been binned and familied. Nothing remains in the custom area except what Maxis placed there. When the Sim starts showing, they will be showing a Maxis hairstyle instead of the one they were given. If I take them to a mirror, the hairstyle that I want is already showing, so it's not like I can change the style back to the one I want.

To make matters more confusing, it isn't happening to all of my Sims. Some of them wear their assigned style during pregnancy just fine. Also, these are styles that I have had in my game for awhile and worked fine during pregnancies previous to installing Seasons. Plus, it isn't even the same hairstyle that they get changed to during their pregnancies. So far every pregnant Sim has changed to a different hairstyle than their neighbor.

The very moment they give birth and revert out of their maternity clothes, their regular hairstyle returns. In the case of multiple births, the change happens after giving birth to the first baby.

I have not assigned different hairstyles to different dress types (a fancier hair for formal, for example). I just use the same style for all their clothes.

My daughter has told me that in her game, the hairstyle doesn't always change to a Maxis style, but sometimes to other custom styles that are binned.

Has anyone else noticed this? Anyone know what causes it, and more importantly, how to fix it?

I'm having problems with the latest update of sleepclock.

The sleepclock is on the bedside table, unset. I send wife to set clock, then to sleep in pj's. I told the husband to do the same. When the wife was getting into the bed and the husband was trying to set the clock for himself, these errors started coming up. Reset and cancel did nothing. On the 7th pop-up I chose delete and the clock disappeared.

Even though these say "Hit Break Point Primitive", I did not force an error on anything.

Everything has been going well with this mod, until tonight. That is, if this error belongs to this mod.

Newlyweds buy a toy store. They, along with their Servo, go to the store in a cab. They stock the store and stay for the first day of sales. Husband and wife sneak off into the back room for a quickie. She gets pregnant with twins. Although they spend the rest of the day there, the pregnancy doesn't progress. (I guess they don't on comm lots).

Time to close the store. Call cab. Everyone gets into the cab. Error pops-up. Reset makes the cab "pull up" again and repeats the error. Cancel does the same. Delete causes the cab and the husband to disappear. Wife and Servo stand on curb.

Call cab. Repeat entire error, reset, cancel, delete. Wife and cab are gone. Servo on curb.

Call cab. Repeat procedure. Delete. Cab and Servo gone. I'm staring at the lot, without Sims on it. No save, go to neighborhood, or quit game available to me. I can't force any errors because I cannot click on anything. Can't use InSim to enable save mode because no Sim around to click on it.

I had to ctl>alt>del to quit the game.

Here is the error. If it doesn't belong to this mod, please let me know. I will attempt to enter the game again now to see if I can find my missing family. I sure hope they are at home.

247  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 June 07, 19:00:52
Two things I noticed. First, Sims are still rolling wants to do snow stuff like snowball fights, even though they haven't even seen a single snowflake yet this season.

The second is Sims rolling fears of death, although no one has yet died in the neighborhood. However, one Sim was SAVED from death twice. So maybe that is enough for the fear to start being valid.
248  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flirt = Affair? Wtf? on: 2007 June 07, 18:26:56
In the spring when Sims roll up the want to "kiss" (not any specific Sim) then this is being satisfied when a friend comes over and they greet each other with the Euro kiss. Even platonic kisses are counting to fulfill that want.

As far as my earlier statement about first kisses, maybe it was "first kiss with so-and-so" rather than just "first kiss" that was satisfied. I'll have to watch closer too. But I know for sure that they have received the actual "first kiss" memories from the goodbye at the end of the date kiss.

249  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flirt = Affair? Wtf? on: 2007 June 06, 20:31:02
Those don't change their relationship? I have had several Sims receive their first kiss from both the greet and goodbye type kisses. So they do something. I never checked to see if it changed their STR score though.
250  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby personalities? on: 2007 June 06, 20:23:46
So after the initial pop-up, the Sims just continue moving around and doing stuff?

Have you tried to see what happens if the Lot Debugger is the only item in the downloads folder? You don't need a pregnant Sim to try it out, just choose the option and see what happens. If it works, then you have a conflict with something else you've downloaded.

ETA: I just thought of something. The female Sim that you are using to click on the lot debugger, she isn't in labor is she? If so, it doesn't kick in until AFTER she gives birth, which defeats the purpose. If the Sim is already in labor when you realize that you haven't randomized yet, then you must have one of the other Sims in the household click on the debugger.
