The familyfunds cheat is working now but I'm still clueless on the runstoryaction. When I try to run it I get an unknown command type message. Perhaps now that they have some money some of them will go ahead and find homes. Goodness knows, there are plenty available but definitely nothing under 20,000 that five Sims can live in. I think familyFunds only works if the household is already on a lot, which sort of defeats the purpose of using it, in the first place. Can anyone confirm if this is still true, or not?

Drakron, different places have different laws. It seems logical that garbage bins set out on the street would cease to be a person's property (they're throwing the stuff out, after all), but not all places will have the same laws. For example, some places outlaw dumpster diving while others don't. You really can't assume, just because the law in one area states that garbage is public property, that it will be that way everywhere. Different states in the US, and even different cities, all have their own separate laws about these sorts of things.
Edit to remove an extra "that."

Attention People having trouble with editSim: Do you have testing cheats and debugging commands enabled for AwesomeMod? If not, this probably has something to do with your inability to successfully use editSim.
Attention New People: Many of your questions and concerns have already been addressed in this thread, and in other threads, as well. If you read through the threads in this section, you will find the answers you need.

I can haz raeg nao: Having to use a giant fucking garage door just to keep something from being used autonomously, or to prevent babies from being stolen, seems rather like overkill to me. Regular doors that can be locked are a much better solution. Too bad the geniuses who designed the game neglected to include them, when it would probably have been really easy to do so. I'm not going to put things that my sims actually need to use on occasion in a garage, that *I* have to open and close manually. That's just silly.
I understand that Zucabr and tngrspacecadet were, most likely, being facetious, here, but this has been suggested as an actual workaround in another thread. WTF?

I think that "better" is a relative term. I've always preferred skins that don't have any painted-on shading or highlights, because the in-game lighting provides those things, for the most part, and the end result is overkill that ends up looking like stage makeup, IMO. To each his own, I guess. It's cool that you're figuring out how to edit the skin files, though. I'm always in favor of moar CC.

I tried to install FPS_Limiter, and Windoze wouldn't let me. It gave me a warning about needing something called Hookhelper and then refused to install the program. I have no idea what Hookhelper even is. I'm new to Vista, and the learning curve has been very steep compared to XP. I've been running the game from the TS3.exe file, but would prefer to use 3booter. Both 3booter and FPS_limiter are installed to the root The Sims 3 directory under Program Files, not the bin. Plz halp, kthxbai.

I'm with Pes, I have never seen this option in game, and I've had my sims stand there for hours romancing each other.
It seems to take more social foreplay to pop up compared to when it appears in bed, but it's definitely there - if you can get the other Sim to think the active Sim is "extremely irresistible", the options to woo hoo and try for baby should appear shortly afterwards. I've seen this option, and even tried to implement it; however, I've never gotten it to actually work. I think this mostly has to do with the "you're blocking my path and I have to stand here with my hand on my hip for five minutes until you GTFO of my way" issue. So, I just have them relax on the bed after all the standing-up foreplay. Tedious.

I forgot to add to my first post that I like the voice sliders. It helps give the illusion that sims are actually unique.
ETA: I just discovered that you can attach a ground level garage to a house on a foundation by using stairs. This, alone, makes TS3 superior to TS2, IMO.
