201  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 09, 18:10:37
So to clarify: no one knows what plugins are needed to enable Sim Surgery in SimPE (which is the only program that can be used to get a Sim that was born in-game into BodyShop)?

ETA: I don't think it's possible to get a Sim exported using SimPE at this time. I disabled every single plugin I could in Preferences and I still couldn't get Sim Surgery to work. *shrugs*

Well, you know what they say: when you're right 51% of the time, that means you're also wrong 49% of the time.  Angry
203  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 09, 11:01:05
If you want to export a lot of kids and toddlers, you could do it by moving them into the empty lot as I said, by first moving an adult into the lot and then moving them in with the teleporter shrub.  Then save, exit and package the lot to a file, and then go back to the kids' families and teleport them back the same way.  The resulting sims2pack can then be installed into another game, and the teleporter shrub used to put all the kids and toddlers up for adoption.

I see what you're saying; if I were to do all that and then install the lot (using Clean Installer to select only the Sims in question), would said Sims show up in BodyShop?
204  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 09, 08:09:52
The problem I have with that wretched ninja is catching the little fucker! He seems to teleport in and stays only for about three seconds before he's gone again, so if my Sim is at the other end of the lot, there'll be no chance of catching him. I've seem him about ten times and only caught him twice. The first time he asked me which came first: the ninja or the sword (I said sword and got it right), but the second time was with an elder Sim who runs slower than some Sims shuffle and he asked me if it's better to know yourself or your enemy. I said self and he disagreed. Bastard!  Angry

Oh, and Witch, this may just be superstition, but I just ask the tour guide What's Cool Here, and as soon as he mentions the ninja, I immediately go to another lot and within a very short period of time, he appears. It's catching the guy that I haven't gotten the hang of yet. Maybe this will work for you.

Still no confirmation on the eggplant juice? I seem to recall a patch EA released that said it would ensure that skills earned from drinking it would be properly credited and I'm thinking Bon Voyage may have broken that fix.

Ness, if by album you mean the photo album, I think your Sim has to order prints and the album off his home computer.  Charge is $45 and it is supposed to be delivered to the Sims home.    Haven't tried it yet...

It works; I've done it multiple times. I haven't actually gotten the deliveryperson to hand the album over yet (they've just placed it on the ground), but I suspect this is due to poor lot design on my part.

Okay, will do so; thanks anyways everyone.
207  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 09, 03:02:12
Would disabling these plugins be fairly easy to do (i.e. choosing which ones to disable), or should idiots such as myself just suck it up and wait for a SimPE update?
208  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 09, 01:24:38
I've noticed with learning the dances that you can learn about the skill (as in it appears in the Traveller's Accomplishments section) but when the want appears in your Wants panel, you have to actually master it (as in, pay the fire dancer to teach you the entire thing).

210  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 09, 00:43:04
Thanks for the tip, ZephyrZodiac. However, the Sims I want to export are all either children or toddlers that were born in-game, so they can't be moved into an empty lot alone.

I guess I'll just have to wait a few months for SimPE to be updated. For some reason, I thought I had heard that it was possible to physically copy their package file from the Characters folder, but I guess I must have misread.  Cry
211  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 08, 19:01:19
So it's really not possible to export a Sim from the game without SimPE?  Embarrassed
212  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 September 08, 10:43:18
Some hacks will cause a reset when installed.

Ahhh, I never knew that hacks themselves could cause Sims to be reset. Thanks for the info.
213  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 September 08, 09:30:28
You know how Sims tend to halt all current actions and reset to having all motives except bladder at full (bladder being at half full) when you install a new EP or patch? Yeah. That's happening every time I close the game and re-enter a lot later on. >=(

Also: for some reason, whenever I have a Sim drink eggplant juice, they'll occasionally get the maxed skill icon above their head even though they haven't maxed a blasted thing.

I think it's probably bad form to toot my own horn, so to speak, but B just confirmed they use the pool ladder animations to get to swimable depth in the ocean.

So I score a point as well.  YEAH!!!

What was the prize again?

Really? I've only had one Sim enter the ocean, but he waded in on his own without 'climbing down' anything. How odd.
214  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apparently, My Sims Can't Drown in the Ocean (Image Laden) on: 2007 September 08, 06:03:50
I don't have BV yet and probably won't get it for quite a while, so I'll need somebody to test and see if this works on vacation lots and beaches.

I'm on it.  Grin

ETA: Yes, it works with BV. I had a Sim starve in Three Lakes (on a comm lot) and had the same Sim drown in the ocean in Twikkii Island. Interestingly enough, his wife swam out into the ocean to 'cry for him,' but once she swam out there, the 'Cry Softly' action disappeared. Grim appeared on the beach itself to dispose of the body (whose hair disappeared at his death, but whose body was gently wafting with the waves). I saw that even the tour guide himself donned a pair of swimming trunks to sigh over the Sim's demise.
215  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 08, 05:41:50
SimPE will start throwing errors as it chokes on all the new functions it doesn't understand, but with patience you can click through the box for every single one.  I did this a couple of times when I had to mess with personalities and interests in SimPE interim periods, and it worked alright for simple modding.  Anything with memories or other areas that has been significantly retooled is off-limits, but the most elementary basics are good to go.

I'd assume simsurgery works alright once you click through everything the game throws at you.  If not, you can definitely grab the basic facial geometry file and append it to other sims as needed.  It'll be a pain to click through everything the program doesn't understand every time you load it up, but all you can do for that is wait for the next release.

I'll give it another try, but I think it keeps throwing the exact same error at me, thus making it never-ending. I'll post the exact error message here shortly.

ETA: Yup, the same error every pop up. Here it is:

Error while trying to open: Package: c:\documents and settings\[name]\my documents\ea games\the sims 2\neighborhoods\N004\N004_Neighborhood.package.
216  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Exporting Sims WITHOUT using SimPE on: 2007 September 08, 05:06:27
Naturally, Bon Voyage has broken certain SimPE features. I seem to be able to use a minimal amount of functions in it, but not Sim Surgery. I would like to extract a Sim from the game, but the program throws up errors whenever I try. I tried manually locating the package file in the Characters folder, but when I placed it directly into the Saved Sims folder (or inth my Downloads), he doesn't show up in BodyShop at all.

Does anyone know how to extract a Sim from the game without using SimPE, or if they know i'm doing something wrong, could they kindly inform me as to what it is that I'm messing up? Thanks.
217  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 08, 04:13:28
Does anyone know offhand if I can simply delete the launcher from the game files, or will that cause a BFBVFS?
218  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 September 07, 20:06:41
Not sure if this is an EP bug or hack related (I doubt it, though: most of my hacks were taken out of the game at this point), but after I exited the game after taking a very pregnant Sim on vacation, when I returned to that lot later, the painting she was nearly finished had disappeared entirely and she suddenly appeared to have her first baby pop when she was already in her third trimester.
219  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 06, 19:24:37
Regarding the missing skill points/money due to vacation chance cards: I notice that they don't get applied until after the tour is over. Are you all paying attention to the requisite areas when the 'returning from tour' option appears on the screen? I've never had this problem.
220  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage time issue. Possibly serious? on: 2007 September 06, 10:02:43
As an example...you leave the hotel lot to visit another community lot at 9am,   you stay at the community lot until 6pm,  at 12 noon while your visiting the community lot, the game will register that your staying another day at the hotel (you get no message about this though),  when you return to the hotel, the time is back to 9am when you left and you also get a message saying you missed checkout time and 1 day has been added to your hotel charge.

Time passes in my game! When I leave the hotel at 9 am and come back at 6 pm, it is 6 pm in the hotel. It does not matter, if I visit the community lot with my whole family or with just one of them...

Same here. Even when I had all my "filthy" hacks still in the game, time passed regularly like it hadn't done before.
221  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 06, 04:06:28
the new attraction likes/dislikes are nice.
What are they btw? Spoiler me.

Ahhh, that's another issue I'm having. With the exception of Tattoos, none of the new turn ons/offs actually tell you what they are. Point at the red hair icon, you see a 'Red hair' text bubble pop up. Point to 'tattoos,' you see the text bubble. Point at any of the other ones and . . . nothing.

Some sort of rock band, I think. It seems to have the basics: a good-looking one, an overly effeminate one and a buffed up muscle-type.
224  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 04, 05:45:05
You can't paint it? Or gold leaf it? Lame.

No, no lamè either, more's the pity.  Grin

Seriously: it's a Super Sim that can do almost everything while not having the distinctiveness of being unique. I disapprove.
