I want these as well! (cafe chairs and tables)
177  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fulfiling Multiple LTWs/'Impossible' LTWs on: 2006 June 23, 13:29:27
I couldn't manage to make the gift flowers sellable, though. I put them on shelves, propped them on the floors. I just couldn't sell them so I deleted them and got the money Smiley
178  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 22, 23:06:58
Yes, but that's a temporary fix, you mean to delete them right? I do that but I have to load the shelves again, and I can't remember what I put where Smiley I'd like them to stop appearing in weird places completely, and I can't figure out what causes it, it happens randomly with different stuff. Maxis and non-maxis. I don't use move-objects cheat for placing stuff on shelves either.
Anyway, thanks for ALL you said. I feel better now. All the same I think I'll stay away for a bit until my emotions settle down Smiley
179  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 22, 22:54:31
Bluesoup, you're right about them having no time to come here or elsewhere for bug-searching, but at least they could keep that bug box all the time, I'd be willing to fill out the bug reports. Though I usually get the game late about a month or two, and by the time I start getting issues, I usually find a fix here. And I want to report the misplaced restocking signs, as they have no fix.
I don't want to whine and bitch all the time (well, maybe sometimes) but I also am happy when maxis releases a patch and fixes some of my problems. But I still hate the BBS.--> that's the bitching now.
Is it the writing not showing the emotions or did I come off as mean? Sorry if I have, I'm overly tense and a crybaby today. Bluesoup, Sad Are you mad at me for saying all that?
180  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 22, 22:24:21
I just wonder everyone if everyone who bitched and whined about bugs here, actually submitted bug reports, where we'd be then.
You're probably right, Blue, and when they have a thread for articulate simmers, maybe I'll post there - but I spent 20 years reading the illegible and inarticulate, I feel I've reached the stage when I don't want to have to mentally correct everything so that I can make some sort of sense of it!
I hate the BBS. I can't find any solutions for my problems, the search option is terrible, and almost all the posts give me a major headache. I just figured out last month that I could make the signatures not appear, even that wasn't enough. I realised the posts were as bad as the siggies. And god forbid I should write anything in that forum. I couldn't find my own post to track it ever again. And my eyes go all watery looking at that layout... *shudders*

So maybe if the maxoids came here more and saw what everyone was whining about, they would think of looking into it. After all, most of the fixes come from here, and more people here know how to put up a log of errors and whatnot (probably not me) at least they would be led into the problem without going through insufferable posts like O my god!!11! The game broke! My sim was just standing there and now it's standing over there when I thought it was standing over here all the time! And how do we get Bella Goth!!!1!! (I'd do that in leet but that's equally agonizing to me Smiley)
181  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 21, 22:40:01
Thanks for the heads up on that one too Smiley But I'm still angry the patch hasn't looked at the issue of misplaced restocking signs. But that's another issue for another day, or yet again, another patch. This game is getting to be too frustrating for me. I'll go back to building houses. No gameplay bugs then Cheesy Teehee
182  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 21, 21:12:45
Oh, I just assumed they were recolors of one speaker but that maxis had messed up and not put them as recolors. I feel really stoopid now :lol Thanks, I'm gonna pay more attention to the hideous maxis stuff, maybe I'll find something I haven't found before! Cheesy
183  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 21, 14:25:29
Yes, that's what I thought.

Today I solved the problem without doing a reinstall. I was walking home from work when I remembered that after patching the game I put in my no-cd exe which I had downloaded by fear of scratching the game, putting it in every time and hearing the roar of the cd-rom had really put me off. Well that was a pre-patch exe, so I put my backed up original exe back in, and the cheat works! (I patched my game with the original exe, to avoid any confusion). I'm sooo sorry to have puzzled everyone and taken up your time.

But I did learn to make my objects.package read-only and that I can back up my installed game folder, so it wasn't a total waste. Cheesy Sorry again. I usually keep track of every thing I keep in my games folder, or on my pc, this was just so obvious, no wonder I missed it! *shame on me*

I have another question. I read in the fixed stuff list that the speakers would now work properly. How do you do that? I mean I realise it's not techno anymore, but I have classical music playing in my bar, how do I change that? I admit I've only used the speakers in supermarkets before Cheesy Do I get a stereo and change the channel there with the speakers present? Because I can't click on the speakers when I'm visiting a lot.
184  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 22:42:19
Oh, okay. I'll be back to let you know if the reinstall worked. One last question: when I get the new expansion, or if I have a new patch, I will have to make the objects.package non-read only (writable) again before I install them, right? (for future muck-ups)
185  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 22:31:13
Like in the Program files/EA Games folder? I can back that up too? If that's true, I'll back all those up for sure next time I reinstall Cheesy
186  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 22:22:29
Yes, it does, it works fine. Anyways, I'm off to bed now but put my backups in for the scripts (don2t think that has anything to do with it) if nothing works, I'll do a reinstall and check this feature immediately. Man, this is turning into Sims1 when I had to reinstall almost every week. Angry I want to place stuff on the side of the road. Period.
Thanks for your suggestions guys Smiley
187  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 22:10:54
I didn't have it before but I had the version of numenor's objects on custom shelves (with that fix included). I took my whole game folder out, put it in another directory. Uninstalled everything, installed everything, patches too, then put my game folder back in (because I forgot to do that before I patched, I thought it was the problem).

So just now, I made the game regenerate a Sims 2 folder, put no hacks in (not even CEP), ran the game, entered a lot in pleasantville, entered the cheat, picked up the mailbox, but wasn't able to put it back in place. I haven't modified any of the core game files (except for an added line in the modular stairs text). So vanilla game, cheat works, but I can't place anything on the road or by the road. (But I can recolor the sidewalk) Cheesy

Perhaps yesterday I placed that car on the sidewalk, never paid much attention.
188  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 21:52:08
Nope, I just tried it in  a newly generated sims2 folder's Clean Pleasantville. No hacks, no downloads. Funny though, I could've sworn I placed a car on the street yesterday... Hmm. (I can pick up the mailbox, but can't place it back where it was) Maybe I'll put back windkeeper's hack for locked tiles and try again tomorrow.
189  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 20, 21:23:12
What problems have you had with this new patch(s) AFTER you got it installed? Any biggies?

Some folks say the moveobjects cheat ISN'T fixed...?

The moveobjects fix (the patch should have fixed it, right?) doesn't work for me. I added my whole Sims2folder back in after I patched, because I had to reinstall from scratch. Maybe this is the problem I'm gonna make the game generate a new sims2 folder and try again tomorrow.

191  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Front Door Hack v2.0 on: 2006 June 19, 10:37:33
I got a No-pedestrian Garage Door from here, maybe you could use that. (I haven't tried it out yet)  http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=117170
I am just sick of visiting sims going to the exterior basement door because the front door is on the foundation. And I have this mod as well. The basement door is way at the back of the house, and the front door is 2 tiles away from the sidewalk. Is it because of the levels? Maybe I'll fence in the top of the basement stairs and lock the gate until I need my sims to go downstairs to the 'Laboratory'.
192  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oh Crap...... on: 2006 June 19, 10:15:56
I lost half my saturday, because I had the said message, didn't think to look behind it, said OK. Then when I took my simsOFB CD out, stuck it back in, got the installation popup for the EP. I was shocked. I backed up everything, tried to uninstall OFB with the CD's uninstaller, it didn't do anything but was erased from Add-remove programs.

So I uninstalled all the other EP's from Add-Remove programs window, when I got to the base game it said "you still have an EP installed, first uninstall that" So I went crazy and deleted the EA Games folder from program files, from My documents and I'm sure I now have a ton of crap in the registry.
But I installed the game and all EP's and patches anyway and put my stuff back in, everything works fine. (at the moment) Temper is bad. Cheesy
193  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bye Bye downloads. Hello Organization on: 2006 June 15, 08:26:31
Exactly, Jade. I have a similar organisation technique that others would have trouble deciding on (and I change catalog info on all the stuff I download. For example, now all my plants and vases show up in the plant section That's why I'll never upload a house. Ever.) I'd show my organising technique if I knew how to put up a picture here. I've completely lost my forum abilities (I've been translating  50 pages of a thesis. I am a MSWORD whore. It makes me stupid. Cheesy)

Are the ones I use, especially the first one when I look for a specific site I got clothing from some time back and lost it Cheesy
196  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Owned community coffee bar, sims don't pay! on: 2006 June 14, 15:45:21
Well, I need a workaround too, I just don't hire baristas for owned lots any more, or use coffee counters or bars in them. It sucks. How can I make a bar? I'm willing to give espresso for free if I just can get some sims to drink it! My problem is that no sims use the coffee bars, for buying or for free. None at all. They're just used if I take a sim downtown and order coffee. It's pretty stupid.
197  TS2: Burnination / Taster's Choice / Re: Testers wanted: Color Binning Tool 0.2.25.1 on: 2006 June 06, 22:18:06
It's easier than you think: when you download a hair, it normally comes with four color packages. When you view the hair in CAS or BodyShop, all four colors are in the custom content bin. But when you change the mannequin age to elder, you see that there are also four grey hairs in the catalog. This happens because each color package comes with a grey recolor.

This tool enables you to hide three of them (at your choice), leaving only one grey recolor (like the Maxis hairs).
Quote
That's why the tool automatically unchecks the elder recolor items [in standard color tabs], so that you can simply check the desired grey recolor, instead of unchecking three!

The example also shows a little quirk: there were no really grey colors available (as seen in the texture preview).
Because the tool does not allow you to replace an item's texture yet Wink, you either choose an elder age recolor (out of the four available) that looks like a grey hair, or you would have to create a grey color package yourself, and load that package into the "Grey" tab, where the elder age item is the only one selected.

Oh dear, well I thought unchecking the grey in the big window (where all the hair colors are) made the hair have NO grey color. And I read the whole script on the download page (many times)! I feel very 'stoopid' after having binned almost 700 hair textures. I checked the unchecked grey every time, I didn't realise you could keep it unchecked and have one grey anyway.
Well I just have more useless elder hair colors, since I don't even age my sims to elder, freaked that they will become all shrivelled up and die without my control. Now I wonder why I even bothered checking them in the first place. God I need a brain transplant. (and could you introduce a batch-fixing option for this? Maybe I could uncheck the greys without the hassle all over?)

Thanks for making this plugin anyway, it works brilliantly!  (I think I have an older version by the way, with no clothing options)

Okay, I'm glad everything is working as it should, thanks. Cheesy
200  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Lame Hires on: 2006 June 04, 09:55:20
I have a question, I use the MoreEmployeesForHire mod by squinge, along with this mod. I've had no problems with them together, but I wouldn't know of a problem unless it crashed my game.
Now I have a lot of townies and playable sims for hire in the bin, I'm guessing they're all unemployed or with jobs under L6. But I have some playable sims showing up in the hire bin who own businesses. Is this because the game sees them as unemployed? Or does Squinge's mod make this one misbehave?
Maybe the awesome one would consider increasing the size of the hire bin, linked with the no lame hires mod. So I could use less mods. Or maybe I'll shut up and pucker my lips.  Lips sealed
