TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why did he cheat?

I wonder if that committed relationship counts with Romance Sims? I had one who was all over another lover and was steady with someone else, but then again she was in love with the other lover too so the hearts probably overrode any kind of flirt rejection.
It certainly works WELL when non-Romance Sims are involved, anyway - I was trying to get a Sim to ask out another whom he had three bolts with, and he was up to 45 STR with her, but she kept refusing because she was still going steady with a teenage love. I selected her and had her ask and HE refused - once I had her break up with her old steady, they dated immediately and all was happy (for them).

Maybe it's something else that happens with the patch?
To clarify for my case - I haven't done the newest patch yet, just the first NL patch. I get "jagged line" conversation balloons whenever I use the new "Bad Mouth" option in the Talk menu.
I have a couple of sims that were involved in a cheating relationship, and so now they can bad mouth each other because they are mad. They always start the action with a ballon showing the subject they are bad mouthing, but it is immediately followed by a jagged line balloon. I've examined these sims' memories and can't find anything obvious that would set this off.
Kind of annoying.
I haven't actually used Bad Mouth yet - you think it tries to use the memory of the event that caused the furiousness? If it was something like puddles or catching a Sim Woohooing - which doesn't count as cheating, though a flirt in front of them does, bah - there wouldn't be a memory to reference? This is probably totally wrong, considering I haven't done any coding but it's a guess, anyway.

I've been getting the jagged line balloons when a sim looks out of the window, it's a fresh install for the patch and my founding sim did it right off the bat. I don't remember it happening pre-patch when they looked out of windows, am I the only one getting this with that action?
I'm getting that too, on a couple downtown lots that I've noticed. So far I haven't noticed it in the regular 'hood. I always chalked it up to 'nothing to look at', or that they were trying to look at the lot decorations that were visible, like that huge ol' billboard that's next to the house where I keep seeing this. Do you have lot decorations visible, by chance? When his kid was 'off lot' at school and he looked out the window, my Sim saw him in the thought bubble instead of the usual jagged lines.

I don't know what's causing it either, but I've had that happen before, too, a couple times at least... furious because they're so mad? Heh. In the one case I can remember, the Sim was furious at another for cheating on his relative, but his own face came up in the bubble.

Hmmm. I donated to SimTeen once way back when for Sims1, because I really enjoyed having that hack and actually getting to grow up my kids, but it wasn't 'pay for'. As for that, I shared a subscription to TSR with a friend a year ago but I let it expire when I moved in RL and had less money. I also donated on the Sims1 Simslice site to get the weather machine, but that's about it. I've been tempted to lately, for some things, but I really can't afford it, so I don't, especially since I'm not even sure I can get the next expansion right now...

I've gotten the lottery bug twice now - once when a downtown Sim invited someone from the main hood to live with him, and she brought about 5 million. I left it since he was a vampire, so I figured, hey, rich goes along with it. The other was more recently, when a main hood Sim invited a downtown Sim to move in, and she brought about two million. I used the money order to have them send most of it to the vampire house, hah, since it didn't fit with that family. Neither were 'townies', but were in houses.

I put in a 'casual NPCs' hack and made a couple of the maids selectable to try to buy them clothes with J.M.'s clothing tool. I could buy the clothes okay, but when it came to putting them on, there was nothing there. When it got to the Change Appearance part, I could do that okay, too, but the maids were apparently naked when I was adjusting their hair and the like. In the end, they became totally invisible, which I kind of like They arrive, do their thing and apart from the occasional ghostly plate flying around, I hardly notice them. Kinda nice, though I wouldn't cry if I could fix them, either...

I use freewill on (they're so boring otherwise) and I've recently noticed the rubbing the belly idle more often, too. Of course, I use the various macros and things enough that their needs are usually always green anyway, so they have more chance to now than they did before, I suppose...

You can get kids to shock teens and adults by having them stand on the rug; when they click on another sim, there's now an option for 'static shock' under the 'Prank' menu.
I'm not sure if it takes Grouchy or Playful or what, but I've seen where kids will do it autonomously - or, well, at least try to. I had one, a visitor, who apparently got distracted before completing the shock, because he was stuck with an evil expression and his finger sticking out for a while even while doing other things. It made for some amusing pictures. I've never actually seen the shock, though, so it's good to know it's not only an autonomous thing...

Heh. Makes me glad I'm a hermit and just don't care what day it is. I like being single - and if I want flowers or candy, well, I'll go buy them, then. It sucks how there can be pressure to do or be something for certain days, though. Like you can slack off the rest of the time as long as you pony up for this one day. Bah, I say!

I love it when a parent arrives on the lot and you tell your sim to greet them and they run hell for leather out to greet them, parent opens arms wide and they leap into their arms! Hermia Capp, (nee Monty) does it whenever either of the Monty elders turns up for an unexpected visit!
I love this...so cute. I like it more that it just happens sparadically instead of with every parent/child. I saw this for the first time yesterday, which makes me think maybe now I knew what to look for because it couldn't have actually been the first time! I was having the adult daughter greet her elder mother when she walked by, to keep her from kicking over the trashcan because she's furious at her ex-husband, and she did that open-arms 'c'mere, c'mere, gimme a hug!' thing, and the daughter raaaan downstairs to hug her. Very cute.

Same thing for me - had a Sim seduce one of the vampires, got tired of waiting for her to bite him so I controlled her and had her do it myself. Of course, as soon as I went back into that house she autonomously bit his roommate *sigh*. Said roommate being a Knowledge Sim, she was unhappy when I cured her, but alas, too bad. I haven't had any autonomous bites, though... I wonder if something's preventing it. I do have Shaklin's bite mod in... I wonder if it affects the autonomous biting, since it gives you those options with the bite now and obviously the NPCs can't choose them?

I also noticed that after I got the correct mesh, the name shows up on mouseover, and the hair would show up properly when I'd click on them, but the preview pictures are still showing the straight black hair. Any idea how to get it to update?
crtl+right click on the picture : works in CAS and in the mirror, and for clothes as well. Oooh, good to know. I had that happen with the last batch of hair - it was turning up straight and I was confused as to why even the adult style was "to be removed". *snort* I think my problem did have to do with missing custom hair property sets, though, but that's only a problem with recolors, and fixed easily enough by using an intact .package, if one exists...

I've just been removing the property sets for the ones that don't have custom style for the other ages when I sort them, and removing any spare textures. Hopefully it hasn't broken anything, but it works just fine in-game. It's so nice to go through my toddler/child styles and not have any duplicates! I can't recolor anything I've done that to, but eh, if I really wanted to I could get a fresh copy and recolor that...
I've found that doing that is only a problem if you want to upload a sim with that hair to the exchange. It absolutely will not take a hair changed in this manner. Why couldn't you recolour it? I had a hair I did that to that, because of the exchange problem, I had to export and re-import. It gave it the other textures back but otherwise didn't change anything or cause any problems that I could tell. When I've tried recoloring anything, actually, if there was a hair showing in Bodyshop with some of the colors removed, even if it wasn't the one I was trying to recolor, it seemed to mess the whole thing up. Or at least I think that's the culprit - I haven't figured it out otherwise. I would try to export a hairstyle to recolor, and it would actually end up exporting a totally different one, usually the next one in the list with all the sets intact. It was screwing me up before I started fixing the hair myself because there are some custom styles that come with property sets already removed - SanMoo's Femininity and the one that is on the SimBrynne avatar, off the top of my head, are two. I think it's because there aren't associated styles for all the age groups, so when it gets to where it shows you how it looks for all the ages and you can refresh to tweak, etc., it can't show those and so it barfs. I get around it by taking out all the other hairstyles when I want to recolor one that I haven't taken property sets out of, which has the added bonus of loading Bodyshop faster.

Also, hunger decay is actually nonlinear: When a sim falls below -85 hunger, his hunger decay rate slows down greatly. I'd noticed this. Pre-Uni and thus pre-Cow Plant, I created a cemetary residential lot with a tiny stone house owned by the Caretaker family, Chris Caretaker and Beatrice Caretaker, a cranky Elder couple that just loved to fight with each other. The Caretakers would befriend all the unattractive townies, get them to visit, and then kill them. As a hobby, Chris would paint portraits of all his victims as trophies. What astonished me was how very difficult it was to starve a Sim to death. They could go something like 24 hours while repeatedly waving and complaining about starving. A pool would have been faster, but it wouldn't have fit with the cemetary appearance of the lot. Eventually I stopped doing it because A) it was so time consuming and B) playing in such an evil fashion creeped me out. - Gus I used to do that early on before I realized the townies were just respawning. I hollowed out a space beneath the house and move-objected them under there. I figured it was a good way to get ghosts for the Knowledge Sims since I've never had a playable Sim die where it was their fault, even with free will always on. The kids in particular took forever to go, longer than the adults. To speed it up I'd get them in the pool, then move-objects them under the house. They'd drown in the dirt, and the pool was free for MY Sims.

I've got a knowledge sim with the lifetime want of 'Graduate 3 Children from College', rather than max skills or reach the top of a career. He rolled it after reaching mad scientist, which was his first lifetime want. I expected something more like reaching the top of the medical career, but seeing that knowledge Sims can want more children makes that lifetime want seem a little more sensible.
I mean, he is married to a family sim anyway, and their first two children have already graduated college, so it's not that hard to do. It was just a little unexpected.
I'm definitely liking that more than just Family Sims are rolling up the want more often, or at least it seems that way. I have a knowledge Sim who, because she had her first baby as a teen with InTeen, rolled up the want to have that baby when she hit her second day. The same Sim, now an adult, just hit her second day with her second pregnancy and she suddenly rolled the Want to have that one, too. I'm sure it has to do with personality also, but I like it. Otherwise only Family Sims would ever have kids in my game...

I rarely play a hood that long! Too easily bored, I guess! But I tend to edit relationships like step-parents, brothers and sister-in-law in SimPE. I really can't face the idea of Dustin and Beau being furious with Keanu because he's tried it on with one of their wives! Doesn't seem to stop Keanu getting the wants, though!
Heh, yeah, I'm currently getting annoyed by some of the wants. One of my favorite Sims (Fortune) got his first kiss in college and promptly rolled up the want to get engaged to her, which I allowed. After the marriage, he rolled up a want to have a baby. After that going on, I've been waiting for wants on some of the others in established relationships, but even the Family Sims are neglecting to roll up the customary wants to get married and have a baby... it's really strange. Usually you can get them to want to get engaged or married on a date, too, but that hasn't been happening either. Agh, Sims. I couldn't keep restarting neighborhoods... I hate having to start from scratch. I've kept this one going since the game first came out. Great-grandchildren of my first CAS adults are as far as it's gotten, though. None of my CAS children have died yet, though they're all elders now, as are the first of my born-in-game. Still, there's plenty I haven't seen, especially since I don't let them get in bad moods/red aspiration too much. Might have to do that more often to see what happens.

That's not nice! Step-siblings I can understand, after all, they don't choose to be someone's step-child and therefore a stepsibling to that person's children, but when you take on the responsibility of being a step-parent, it should be a lifetime commitment!
Heh, yeah, you'd think so. Well, considering the Sims can't even recognize their own great-grandchildren, it's probably too much to hope that an ex-stepdaughter would still be considered related. I have a Sim just born into a family with some "immortals", so the relations are seriously screwed up without actually being genetic incest - her nieces are also her aunts. (First-gen CAS Sim who had three bolts with her son's girlfriend's son, and they ended up having a daughter.) The mother being semi-immortal, she already has great-grandchildren. The father of her current lover is also the father of one of her sons. I didn't realize why the son's girlfriend wanted to teach skills to the toddler until I realized she was the toddler's grandma... anyway, yeah. Stuff that wouldn't happen in real life, but it amuses me anyway...

I find it rather creepy in a way, because it's clear that if they weren't related they'd probably have 3 lightning bolts and I think somewhere deep down they know that. I had siblings, Yesenia and Yowie, who I couldn't keep apart and the same thought occurred to me. They lived next door to each other at Uni and one was always visiting the other. Yowie would show up at Yesenia's house, bypass his girlfriend, and start with the friendly hugging, family kissing and dirty joke telling. That was my first encounter with this game feature and I was freaked out. It all came to a head when Yesenia was dreaming and she had a Yowie thought bubble consumed with attraction hearts. I paused and almost started crying. When I unpaused, Yowie's face immediately faded to Yesenia's husband, Stee. I guess it was just unfortunate sequencing but I went about cooling their friendship down post haste. They still get wants to call and invite each other over all the time, but they never visit autonomously. I've noticed this with a few Sims as well, makes it pretty clear that the chemistry is calculated for everyone and just suppressed for relatives. One of my Sims was as platonically all over one of his stepdaughters as he could be as soon as she turned into a teen; he and her Romance Sim mother just divorced right after he turned elder, and bam! No longer related, they had two bolts to start with

Definitely interested in the family one. As it is, growing Sims up has gotten really kind of boring now that there's tons of macros and things to help out. I remember how hard it was with my first set of twins and a single mother - by now I wouldn't break a sweat and I don't have the baby controller I've never grown a Sim up early yet because of boredom, but some are tempting me. Anything new for kids would be great. And damn, I haven't seen zits on my teens since before Uni!

I have one whose nose was really high and flat - her dad's was flat from CAS and I hadn't noticed. From the side it's like a skull nose - indented inward. I gave her plastic surgery and made her a lesbian so she wouldn't breed, but regretted it later when I realized most of my Sims were born attractive, and that's boring. So she and her lover had a 'magic' baby who, much to my delight, did indeed inherit The Orc Nose. Still a toddler, but I imagine it won't get any better, and now I can have orcy pictures again! (My old ones were accidentally deleted, sigh.) Her brother got his mom's nose but it was close to his lips, and now that he's an adult it doesn't look too bad. I'll have to see if he'll spread the ugly, too. My inbreeding experiment is turning out to be one of the most gorgeous Sims I have, so I'll have to continue this and see what happens I imagine it won't end up like it would in RL, though, somehow. *snort* I'm curious to see if they get closer in looks to the one shared ancestor...

I've noticed this too. And, I'd really like to know how to make the Falling Trees and other lots brighter again. It doesn't happen with every house, but there's a couple pre-NL houses I have which I can hardly stand to play anymore because whenever night hits, I can't see a damn thing! There are lights everywhere, the environment is fine, but they shed hardly any light. I'll have to look for that thread mentioned...
