The thing that annoys me most about this scenario is that the game implies, upon your sim having invited all of the guests, that your sim needs to have a lavish setup in order for said guests to enjoy themselves. Nuh uh! If the guests bring their own food, why even bother having your sims serve food or buy a buffet table? The whole setup is retarded. Retarded, I tells ya!

You have to configure the AwesomeMod in order for all of the features to work. To enable certain console commands, you need to enable debugging. There's a configuration tool available on the same page where you downloaded the AM. Just click the link, enable/disable options as you see fit, and then click the big green tyrannosaurus to save the aweconfig file to your computer.

I've learned a way around the expensive foundations. You can actually use the design tool on them, rather than putting a wall texture on them, and it doesn't cost anything. Just pick a texture (masonry, stone, wood, etc) and customize from there. It's not ideal, but it works.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Moodlets + Six Bars vs. Eight Bars
|
on: 2009 July 09, 06:34:03

The only thing that bothers me about the moodlets and having only six bars is that comfort is no longer a factor, when it comes to furniture selection. Depending on where I place a bookcase, the sims will choose a cheap and uncomfortable-looking patio/dining chair over a comfy sofa, which is illogical. At least in TS2, furniture had a comfort rating, and sims would choose the most comfortable item over what happened to be nearest the bookcase. I just make sure that I place bookcases close to the better furniture, but it's silly that I have to do that in the first place.

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: What are the "NPC" households listed when I do ListHomeless?
|

AFAIK, NPCs are maids, mailpeople, newpaper deliverers, repairpeople, repomen, and the like. I also recall reading that the game will create them to use as coworkers for your playable sims. NPCs are not the same as townies AFAICT. I used the console command "destroyalltownies" with debugging enabled, and the NPCs still showed up under "listhomeless."
Edit: ninja'd!

You don't understand. Changing the config file won't actually fix your game. What you need to do is just keep reloading the sims until it works. Then after that it should load for you every time without crashing. (probably) Then after the next awesomemod release it will happen again. The game will crash. But just reload the game and eventually it will work. If nothing else use the 3loader and it will reload the game until it works for you. Also, get the nointro hack from mod the sims.
Playing around with files feels like it helps... but it really doesn't.
Personally, I delete the scriptcache file before loading... and it doesn't crash on the initial load... but honestly I think that is pure luck.
I got it loading again. I'll try those but it's odd because it seems that just the config file is the issue as if I take it out it loads without problem then when I put it back in again it doesn't until eventually it just does. Weird. Installing/uninstalling the enablescripterror.package file sometimes helps. I had the non-loading problem, plopped it into the Mods/Packages file, and my game loaded fine. Next version of AwesomeMod, I had to take it out, because my game wouldn't load with it in. I'm not the only one who has reported this phenomenon, but it could also just be voodoo.

I've never gotten it to work in my game. Testing cheats and debugging are both enabled. This makes no sense.
It hates you, probably. Actually, it was the first sign of my game becoming a BFBVFS. The apocalypse is nigh. Make sure you're typing those phrases correctly. FamilyFunds will show up in the console box (type help) if you've enabled it correctly. 'FamilyFunds TheFamilyName amount' and 'runstoryaction Move In Household'. If there's not an eligible home, the runstoryaction check box will have a 'move in where??' response, then you know you'll need to adjust either the homes (add beds) or make cheaper homes or set the family funds higher.
That's what I did. I stated clearly in a prior post to the one you quoted that Zazazu's instructions worked just fine. It's using the familyFunds cheat on a newly created household from the neighborhood that I can't get to work. My syntax is correct. For some reason that I have yet to figure out, I can only use familyFunds from inside a lot, but not in neighborhood view. Edit to fix typo.

Try the new version that just went up a few hours ago. I eliminated a race condition that could make it not function on possibly slower computers...although if your computer is that slow, you probably don't need a limiter anyway.
My PC is high end, with a very powerful (and expensive) graphics card. The case is practically a giant fan, plus the graphics card has its own fan and heat sink, so I'm probably not in any danger of burning out my graphics card but, I figured, why take any chances? I've been loading the game from the TS3.exe. I think I'll just stick with that.

Zazazu's instructions worked perfectly for placing homeless bums, but familyFunds still doesn't work from neighborhood view with newly created households. In order to actually use the cheat for a new fambly, I have to briefly play an existing fambly, and THEN use familyFunds to give money to the new fambly. This is very cumbersome. Can it be changed, so that the cheat works from the neighborhood, like it did in TS2?

Chaos could you maybe direct me to where I can find out about the inability to delete custom content possibly? I did try and do a search but I have never been very good at it and I don't have the time or patience to site and read pages of thread. You seem to think what I asked was already talked about so might you know where? Please. Thank you and all of that. ![Cheesy](/smf/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Are you talking about patterns and walls, and stuff like that? I'm not sure if it even has anything to do with AwesomeMod. I do know that these things (patterns, etc) contribute, in some way, to the size of your saved neighborhoods. The bigger the neighborhood, the more things start to go haywire, apparently. I think there's a way to delete them out-of-game, but I'm not sure how. Maybe someone more awesome than I can provide this information. I recall seeing a similar question in another thread, but I don't remember which thread, or if a solution was given. That's why it's a good idea to read all of the threads in both the AwesomeMod section and The Horror! The Horror! section. I know it's tedious to read all those threads, when you're trying to find out about a single issue, but really it's the best way. You learn lots of things! ETA: It just occurred to me that, if a pattern is in use somewhere in your game, you may have to change whatever is using the pattern to something you don't intend to delete, and THEN delete the pattern. If you're talking about Store items, you have to use the Launcher to uninstall them.
