I'm no programming expert either, but it looks to me more like system problems than Sims 3 specifically. I don't know if this is a Windoze 8.1 issue because I don't use 8.1, I haven't seen a lot of people complaining though. You could check your Windoze updates I guess.
You may want to have a chat to your son as to what 'to cyber' means in Internetz terms, lol.

The robot puts the meal away instantly, when in the present (past), sims don't have time to get to the household meal. Awesomemod leaves the plates out for a wee bit which is far more useful. Can the robot be delayed?
Can phones please be silenced permanently? Now it's not just Uni, but everytime the sims time travel, all their damn phones get turned on again. Hoverboard preferences, i.e. use the board instead of walk, get nerfed also.
The moon landing flag commemoration on landing with a jetpack is cute the first few hundred times, but after that it gets a bit old, it's gone beyond an acknowledgement to a mockery. Is it possible to make this a fairly rare event?
ETA: When returning from the future 2/5 of my sims lost all their wishes, have others experienced this? I doubt it's an AM bug.

I couldn't get the 'wait for 5 seconds, hit download button' to work in Furry Fox, even with javascript enabled. (I do use an ad blocker.) I had to use IE. It was quite interesting, I don't think I've ever seen ads on the internet before. The new format of the TSR page allows ads to be interspersed with the downloads, quite cunning. The ads had no trouble downloading, but the site was slower than a wet week and most of the download images failed to load. I'll try again in a couple of weeks when the excitement has died down.

I reckon something like this takes me 30-40 hours. I look for something that inspires an idea on the internet, then I search on floor plans, colour scheme and decor. Then comes the shell, getting proportions and light right, with a runway for the sims so they don't get stuck routing so much. Finally I decorate more-or-less room by room. Light adjustments and gardens come last. I have spent two evenings so far on a new house, which is ALMOST COMPLETELY UNLIKE this house in every way.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Pricing of business/community lots

I have a fambly, one of whom is going to run a store. I wanted to make my own store, so I cleared a 30x20 lot and set it as a hangout. The real estate register finally noticed it after a game reload and I thought it was all good. Then I noticed the price, set at upwards of $51K. This is a blank lot with nothing on it, I was going to build the shop as I went.
Anyone have any idea why there is such an astronomical price hike?
I'll try wanding it but don't expect it to work as there are no objects on the lot.

My sim switches from speed four to speed one when waking up. Finishing any other activity skips to speed 0(paused) as expected.
AM and game version are both 1.57. Ditto. Not sure about finishing work, I don't often use speed 4 on that, but definitely the waking up is not pausing.

I like the redrum bedrum. I'm sorry I haven't been participating lately, I always mean to but what with work, a reinstall of my PC that does not include sims 3 so far and the fact that I have been teleported to Neverwinter Nights online, means that there has been no opportunity to build recently. I still follow the threads with interest and vote.
