151  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NL: Must all Divas have black hair? on: 2005 December 10, 05:25:26
Hmm, then I wonder what the problem is because I can't change their hair color.  All of the divas I've had so far and even the reserve divas in SimPe are raven-haired.
152  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / NL: Must all Divas have black hair? on: 2005 December 10, 04:53:38
I replaced one of my downtown divas with Dina Caliente and she had black instead of her blonde hair?  Is there anyway to have non-raven haired divas (if it is in fact a mandate that they must all have black hair) as I was hoping to match her with one of my Sims whose turn-on is blonde hair.
153  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: stupid move-out controller, how I despise thee! on: 2005 December 10, 04:50:25
Ugh!  I can relate.  I just had this happen with one of my favorite Sims from my favorite sorority.  Not even the Lot debugger worked.  I had her cousin from Downtown call her over to move in but then there was no move in option so I just added her to the family with the InSimenator and then when she moved out unto a new lot, she had no face.  Luckily when I took her to the mirror she got her face back.  And now she's engaged to hnote's David Beckham Sim so I guess it ended happily.
154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't build a garage on Veronaville lot on: 2005 December 10, 04:47:15
Hmm, it might be because it's on the right side but I have driveways on the right side of a few houses with no problems.

I can't put it on the left (not enough space), I'll try idtaminger's suggestion.  Thanks for the replies everyone.   Smiley
155  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't build a garage on Veronaville lot on: 2005 December 09, 21:26:30
If anyone is familiar with Veronaville (as I understand most play Plesantview or their own custom hoods), I'm trying to put a garage in one of my houses and can't.

I don't understand why.  It's the largest house/lot in the neighborhood of the Maxis original houses and there is plenty of space, enough to make two garages but whenever I try, a little box comes up saying that it is out of bounds.  I'd really hate to move them out as it's such a nice house.  The entire family has a want to buy a car.  It's a legacy house that has been given to the eldest child for the past 4 generations, it's also the largest house of the richest family and so I suppose my need for garage is also a bit of a pride thing as there are 19K families in the same hood with not one but two cars.

I'm wondering if anyone has used this house or better yet, put a garage there.

156  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / New OFB info on: 2005 December 04, 20:26:08
I was perusing Snooty Sims and found a link to some new Open for Business information.

http://www.eaplay.com/australia/games/pc/sims/business/

So far from what I've read, it sounds 10 times better than Nightlife.
157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Animated custom hair on: 2005 December 02, 09:41:26
Speaking of custom hair, does anyone have PeggySims' donation meshes ingame? Can you guys tell me if her hairs look/work nice ingame? W/ all the talk of hairs not living up to their screenshots, I'm wondering they're really as nice as they look. Right now, from the screens, I'm seriously, seriously tempted to just subscribe to her site, since she now has a subscription area instead of individual donation items.

Yeah, I'd like an answer to that too.  This is the first time I've been seriously considering subscribing just for her hairs because they look so nice but if they're not animated well, then I won't bother.
158  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Careers? on: 2005 November 22, 19:56:43
Yeah, like Veilchen said too.  I only have 4 or 5 custom careers and I only use the ones from poojkins from MTS2 because hers are reliable and most people swear by them.

I should probably download more but they are getting more and more outlandish.  I prefer to keep my steeped in reality and sorry, but I can't really see any of my Sims wanting to follow a Mod The Sims 2 career path.  What a waste of a University education.
159  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Using Groups on: 2005 November 21, 07:09:02
The group feature is probably my favorite part of the game.  I find that successful group outings reap greater rewards than successful dates.  It's also an easy way to get a lot of people at your party without having to singularly invite people over.

My favorite aspect of the grouping is that all Sims stick together so I don't have to worry about my idiot Sims running off to play with the swings or do some other non-me sanctioned activity.  Also, if you only want two or three Sims from a household to go downtown instead of the whole family or one person, you can form a group at home and then select the group head to go to a community lot and the rest of the group tag along without taking the whole family.

I mostly use the groups with my teens as I put the burden of making friends for their parents' promotions on them so it's a great way to make friends, get free stuff and also introduce other playable Sims in the group to Sims they don't already know.  I love taking my family groups out to Sim Bowl Lanes for a family night out.

Mostly it's great because it cuts down the time it takes for your Sim to socialize with multiple Sims by having them there at the same time.  Ever since I got NL, I've been getting more and more Big Sims on Campus because it's much easier to make friends.
160  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recoloring a Custom Object on: 2005 November 21, 05:57:25
I think the problem is with the MMAT file.  It doesn't correspond to the new object GUID.  Try going into Object Data, select the first bed: Bed-Double-Moderate, check the box that says "update all MMATs" and then select the Update link to the left of that.  Save it and then try again.
161  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 15, 21:23:52
I'm in tears, now (nooooooo not really), since I have to go and delete all of those Milla meshes I just put in the other day. And I think I even told you in my last PM, Motoki, that I was wondering why my game was suddenly loading so slowly. Jeez. All those damn hair meshes I just downloaded! And I haven't even used them, yet.

If that is the same Milla that used to post on TSR, apparently (not to spread around Sims 2 community gossip), there was a big scandal when it was found out that she had been taking her hair meshes from Poser and posting them as her own, hence the high poly count.  When the owners of the meshes found out, they threatened to take legal action against TSR, TSR pulled all her meshes but are now working with the original owners to fix the meshes (lower the poly count) and repost them on the site with proper credits.
162  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 12, 18:29:59
Exnem from The Sims Vault has some nice hair.  The one I have downloaded (the one he put up on MTS2) looks great in game.  I'm not sure what the poly count is, I've always suspected that his objects had high poly counts but never really bothered to check

The Compulsive D hair meshes (you can find them on Simpathetic.com) are high poly but all really nice and welcome breath of fresh hair in the "ethnic" hair department.

I tend to stay away from the long hair meshes because of, like everyone else said, animation issues.  Sunair also has nice hair.  Some are from Poser/Renderosity so they might be high in polygon count as well.

Someone uploaded a really cute ponytail w/ bangs mesh on MTS2 a week or so back.  The animation of the ponytail is pretty good and it looks great in game (works with all ages).
163  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How rich is "rich"... on: 2005 October 23, 17:34:08
Ah, there's the problem.  They had just loaned money to his sister and were under the 50,000 mark.  Thanks.
164  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting dishes, homework, bills, the newspaper etc on: 2005 October 23, 17:32:27
Yeah, with moveObjects on, you can delete objects with items on them.  I think it's always been that way.  The problem is that you only get reimbursed for the one item and not also whatever is on it.  Certain items like dishes, bills and the paper, you can delete without having to place on a table if you have moveObjects on.  I'm not sure about homework.  I have the homework sometimes mod so I don't really mind it so much anymore.
165  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How rich is "rich"... on: 2005 October 23, 16:32:18
...to fulfill the "Marry a Rich Sim" want?  Is there an actual amount that when reached or surpassed, your Sim is officially considered rich?  I just had a Fortune Sim who had that want marry a man who had earned at least 75,000 and she didn't get the want fulfilled.

Has anyone fulfilled this want with someone other than a Goth?  Do you have to reach the 100,000 benchmark to be considered rich?  Also, am I correct in saying that wealth is the total amount earned without factoring in how much of that money the Sim has spent?

The answer to these questions and more, when someone replies (hopefully).
166  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim can't go to work on: 2005 October 22, 19:19:08
Actually it sounds like a problem with the yellow pee hack by Dukasha. If you have that one and remove it, it should solve the problem.

Actually, I just downloaded that.  Thanks Motoki.  You just saved me from another reinstall.  Smiley
167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim can't go to work on: 2005 October 22, 01:35:10
Well I had to reinstall anyway because the game wouldn't even start.  My Sim is fine and I just sent him off to work.  And so with this problem fixed, I now have another where the tombstones of the dead are on EVERY LOT.  And to make matters worse, even after I delete them, they reappear when I leave the lot and come back.   Roll Eyes  Methinks this is the workings of the patch.
168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romance sim wants to marry off 6 children? on: 2005 October 21, 03:41:26
I just recently had a Romance Sim get a want to marry his girlfriend (while on a date with another woman where he was caught with that woman by his girlfriend's older sister and brother-in-law who proceeded to "poke" "shove" and "attack" him for the rest of the date).  I immediately locked it and am now just waiting for his fear to marry his girlfriend to roll so I can get them married.  Maybe it's just Maxis trying to add more variety to the game.
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim can't go to work on: 2005 October 21, 03:34:52
It's not a portal issue because the carpool, all carpools and schoolbuses, etc. other transportation, come and leave with no incident.  It's just my one Sim can't get inside and so the carpool drives away after an hour.  Does the lack of a portal account for a Sim not being able to enter the carpool?

And now my game isn't even running because there is a problem with my disk so I suppose this problem is moot now for me.  There are days when I just want to burn these discs in a Nazi-like bonfire.  Angry  I suppose I'll grumble today and try to figure out the disc problem tomorrow or when I have more patience (read: more sugar in my system).
170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim can't go to work on: 2005 October 20, 06:40:34
Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of too but I just moved them from a corrupted lot and everyone else is fine, just him.  I'm going to kill this family if I have to move them yet again. I'll just have him move out and unto another lot and see if it's a lot problem first before I move the entire family.  Damn these pesky Jitmakusols!  Angry
171  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sim can't go to work on: 2005 October 20, 05:49:15
I haven't seen anyone else with this problem. My Sim, Wyatt, was just about to advance to the top of the culinary career and fulfill his lifetime aspiration but when his carpool came, he couldn't go to work. Whenever I would select for him to go to work, it would drop out of queue. I had him quit his job and then get another job and he still couldn't go to work so now he cannot have any job. The carpool always comes but he just can't get inside the car. He has a wife and 5 kids. He needs to have a job.

I can't think of any hack that would have caused this as I had pretty much all of them removed after I installed the patch.  I think the only ones I have left is the nowhatsthis and twoJeffs Casual Woohoo.
172  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Submit Issues about Nightlife on: 2005 September 23, 17:55:48
Any chance that the patch (any patch) will fix the nannies showing up on time, or just showing up period?  My kids got taken away by the social worker twice before I finally just moved in their aunt (which then reset the household and the parents came home but, eh).
173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 23, 17:51:38
After reading this and the other bugs post, I have to say that my problems are few and far between so far (I've only been playing for a couple of days now so I'll probably have to eat my words in a week or so from now).

My only big game-stopping problem (or at least foul-mouth inducing problem) is that I play Veronaville and pretty much only Veronaville.  When installing NL, I removed my Downloads folder, all cc, and my Neighborhoods folder.  I install, all was fine and I set up a Downtown in V-ville to make sure everything was working down there.  When I thought everything was good, I closed the game and put all of my custom content and Neighborhoods back in.

Aside from some hack conflicts which I just fixed by taking them all out, everything was fine save for a few minor glitches and stuff that I maybe just haven't had because I haven't tried them yet (cars, karaoke booth, dancing with relatives).

I noticed that there were a lot of buildings in my Downtown and it wasn't until the second day that I toggled to day and realized that many of them were identical to my Academie le Tour lots.  Going into my college town, I realized that they were in fact those lots as those lots were now missing in my campus.  The college lots were superimposed on the Downtown lots so most of them were right in the middle of streets and intersection or covering the real downtown lots.  To make matters worse, they had been changed to Downtown lots in both name and lot size(my giant domed library was renamed the Hub and while originally a 5x5 lot was now changed and treated as a 3x3).  Because of the lot size change, I can't replace any of them back in my college.

I have another college town in V-ville which was untouched and everything there is fine.  I'm not sure whether this is a NL bug or maybe because I broke the rule of not installing eps in order.  Though Uni was already installed when I set up NL, I had removed my Neighborhoods folder and so there was no University in Veronaville when I set up my Downtown.  I'm hoping this is the problem and it's not a bug because the damn Downtown stole all my favorite and not-so-easily reproducible buildings from le Tour and I would hate if this happened again.
174  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 6 Days at Home to do WHAT Exactly? on: 2005 August 05, 07:54:01
You could try turning your neighborhood townies into supercapable useful members of society by taking in a few at a time and training them and then turning them back into NPCs.  I'm currently doing that with my teen townies in Veronaville in case I decide to send any of them to college.

Or you could start focusing on Influence points instead of aspiration points and use them to make two sims fall in love with each other and then once you've accomplished that, get more influence points to make them hate each other.

You could have your Sim become a serial killer.
175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 6 Days at Home to do WHAT Exactly? on: 2005 August 05, 03:12:11
Well with just the base game and Uni, probably nothing.

I would imagine if NL promises to be all that it seems to be, that a job that is only one day a week would be convenient to hang around Downtown and go on many dates.

I recently just had my Sim quit his job because the hours aren't NL-compatible in my opinion and I'm planning for him to sow his oats in the new ep before settling down.

A one-day work week Sim would make a good parent though, esp. for raising toddlers and buildig skills in their kids and teens.

I wish our Sims could hold down more than one job at a time.  That's always a desire I have especially when I have Sims living from hand to mouth and they have something like 2 days off before going to work again.  It'd be nice to pick up an extra job on the side.
