151  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim wants to fall in love with her husband's alien son on: 2005 November 08, 21:52:42
It would be interesting, though I don't know how possible, if there was a hack that extended the "family" mark if the sim had know the family member in question as a child, and made a sim completely off limits to anyone who remembered "teaching to walk" or any similiar wants. It would probably annoy as many people as it pleased, because it would somewhat limit family drama, but it could be interesting.

Especially if anyone can understand what I'm talking about.
152  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 08, 21:25:22
If in need of a paint program, google GIMP. Has all the necessary functionality of Paint Shop, but is free. Open source is a wonderful thing.

I learned Animation Master last year. I'm not bad at working with it; my problem is that I never know what to do. If I already have a project, sure, but just doing something off the top of my head is hard.
153  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Crammyboye Archives / Re: Let Slobs be Slobs on: 2005 November 07, 22:14:54
Even slobs get desperate . . . and desperate people do desperate things.
154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: changing eyecolor in an established Sim on: 2005 November 07, 17:11:08
Just found this out the other day, whilst surfing Mod The Sims 2. If you go into the package file for an eyecolor in SimPE, in the "Texture Overlay XML" file, (should be the last one in the list on the left) there's a value "genetic." It has a range from 0, maximum dominance, to 4, maximum recessiveness, with 0 being the custom default. Changing  this value allows you to make custom eyes that have a dominance of less than Overpowering.

I *think* that the "genetic" values in the Skin Tone XML and the Hair Tone XML, in their respective package files, do the same thing, but I haven't tested it so I can't be totally sure. I have a feeling that both are a tad more complicated than eyes, but I'll soon get 'round to testing it.
155  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does this make sense? on: 2005 November 07, 04:35:45
The Sims 2 is constructive, making it infinitely better than almost all other games on the market. You actually have something to show for you effort, beyond a bunch of numbers.

And society in general is screwy, not just American. Vive la revolution! (As soon as I finish high school.)
156  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Battle of the Aspirations on: 2005 November 06, 16:19:02
I probably like knowledge best. Skill building is fun, and getting abducted by aliens is even better. Mwahahah.

Family and popularity are about even. I use them as glue for neighborhood cohesion. Most of my couples have one or the other.

I don't dislike Fortune, but I don't particularly like them, either. Same thing with Romance. When I want to play old school sims 1 style, I go with fortune. When I want to play something challenging, or a change of pace, I play romance.

Pleasure sims are okay, but kind of irritating sometimes. Probably end up around Romance and Fortune. Grilled Cheese are good for a change of pace, or for punishing sims, but not something I'd want a whole lot of. Except for Grilled Cheese Alien Zombie Vampires.
157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome Crammyboy on: 2005 November 06, 01:36:10
Wooh! Crammyboy is here! He actually has a home now, instead of just sleeping on MTS2's porch.  Wink

I like the idea of this site being the go-to place for global game modification type stuff. (And I personally think that the alien/vampire replacements fall under that category, but whatever.) MTS2 is a bit too anarchic to be a really useful development environment, and VS is both a little more focused on general hacking of the game and pushing the envelope on content creation techniques, as well as just having too much drama to be truly Awesome.

The one idea that I have, too keep things here from going too VS and fragmenting into a bunch of mini sites, is to keep discussions of the game and of hacking mostly in the Podium, the War Room, and Peasantry. At least for now, I don't think that individual modder discusion forums are necessary, and I don't think they'd be a good idea. It's a simple point, but I think that feature of this site goes a long way towards encouraging cohesion and cooperation.

Anyhow. Now we have three modders to annoy! Yay!

Oddysey, I think it is, does this stuff better, you know the 'double plus ungood' stuff, but this whole situation does feel really orwellian to me. Disappearing text, text which gets altered in the night and an undercurrent of secrecy on shifting sands. Threads here are helping to create a sense of continuity and reality, validating peoples' knowledge of things that have happened.

Eh? What? Did I miss something? What is it that I do? And if I don't do it, who does?

Oddysey: the Terminally Clueless.

I must agree, though. It is quite Orwellian. And I'm thinking that it may be time to bring out the "Ye Olde Revelator" schtick and unleash upon Rentech and Co. Or possibly point out, in a bad russian accent, that "Boris is not sending seven PMs, since Boris is not talking to anyone, let alone Rentech person. Boris would tell Rentech this himself, but is too busy leaving country to be involving self in paranoid fantasies."

I still occasionally read there, but haven't posted or tried to post in ages. I'll have to check to see if I'm on moderated or otherwise experiencing account weirdness. If I am, it may be time to dust off yet another persona. "Human, door, separate! Must fix!" <powers up arcwelder>
159  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: anyone noticed this in CAS? on: 2005 November 06, 00:57:53
It was one of those idiotic "Letters Home" review type things. "I have an adult body, but still keep my teen face" or something along those lines. And the different texture is noticable for men, at least, but much less so for women. For me, anyway. Mainly because the textures for men have more forehead lines than the women.
160  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 November 04, 03:33:40
Welcome TwoJeffs!

Did you pick up any cheese yet?

This site is the best going! All Pescados fault Smiley Long live MATY!

Be careful around Mutant Bunny's cheese . . .
161  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abduction in NL changes relationships? on: 2005 November 04, 03:32:03
Ah that's true..but then I run into that "realism" problem again lol

I usually stick to having gay couples adopt a lot of babies...that way it gets some new blood into the neighborhood gene pool.

Realism. Pfffsh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Realism? We don't need no stinkin' realism. Besides, it has a real science fictiony bent to it.
162  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Only one thing on their minds.... on: 2005 November 04, 01:56:44
"Woohoo with" and "Have very first Woohoo with" are two different wants. They added "first woohoo," similiar to first kiss, in Uni.
163  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Myths, Urban Legends, And Apocrypha Of TS2 Explored And Exploded on: 2005 November 03, 00:04:42
It's not true if other people can't duplicate it.
164  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why doesn't Maxis release the Edith Editor? on: 2005 November 02, 23:35:07
If Maxis lets people use Edith, then they are theoretically responsible for what said people make with it, in the sense that they can be sued. At least, that's the official line: the lawyers made us do it. Personally, I think it's a case of EA being twitchy about "proprietary formats."

Edit: Looks to me like these classes are basically an employment advertisement to try to convince the best computer students to work for EA.
165  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abduction in NL changes relationships? on: 2005 November 02, 21:37:23
I don't have many gay familes in my game..usually only 1-2 at any given time..but I think I play straight familes more just b/c I like to have my females pop out babies a lot  lol

Pregnancy for all hack. Now on this site! TwoJeffs solves all problems unsolved by Pescado.
166  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-1-05) on: 2005 November 02, 21:16:09
My sims rarely keep the clothes they transition with. That is what clothing tool is for. And I greatly appreciate your inclusion of maternity clothes. Between this and the "force redress" option my sims may actually have decent maternity clothes with the proper meshes.
167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: anyone noticed this in CAS? on: 2005 November 02, 02:28:11
I wish townies were generated off the elf template. I actually rather like that one, but nooo. Has anyone ever seen a townie with the elf template?
168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: anyone noticed this in CAS? on: 2005 November 02, 01:56:28
Brynne's sims? Everyone seems to like them.
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abduction in NL changes relationships? on: 2005 November 02, 00:03:49
Just so I know we're on the same page here, Jordi, you do know that I'm the person who thinks the game should be *less* realistic, right? I wasn't intentionally criticizing your playing style; I just have no tact. Although I'm not sure what blind people have to do with this . . . Eh. Anyway.

I just make sims how they occur to me. Since I hang out with a fair number of gay or bi people, I have a fair number of gay or bi sims. Like in most areas, my sims are generally reflective of my environment, quirks, and prejudices. My closest friends are all geeks and tech people, I have a disproportionate number of Knowledge sims.
170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abduction in NL changes relationships? on: 2005 October 31, 22:07:29
Unfortunately there still is no 100% hetero mod out... I'd install it in a second.

Rather unrealistic. And how would I use TJ's "pregnancy for all" hack then? Playing all straight sims would be boring.
171  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A list of aspiration according to zodiac signs of townie/NPC on: 2005 October 31, 02:39:23
At least a couple of them, like the ones that alter cheekbones, are messing with more "structural" parts of the face, and thus have a greater chance of causing weirdness in the hands of an unskilled user. Probably they just didn't want to deal with people asking them why their sims faces went all weird when they smiled, or something.
172  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 October 31, 02:36:52
"Oh frabjous day, calloo callay"

I probably spelled that wrong, but Lewis Carrol is dead, so I doubt he cares.

Do I see a "critical hacks" compendium in the future? Whee. Now Pescado has no excuse if his hacks aren't compatible with TJ's. No more "I'm not allowed on that site" business.

I wish happy was a verb.
173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any getting Sims2 on PSP? on: 2005 October 30, 21:18:03
The only console game that appeared to have nice graphics were the PSP and the xBox versions of the games. All the others seemed mediocre, but you really can't compare a computer with a high-end video card and a measly console. Maybe when the PS3 and the other new consoles come out, Maxis will consider moving the Sims to that format. In my mind, I don't see why they didn't wait.

Money! Money now! Not money later! Now!
174  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any getting Sims2 on PSP? on: 2005 October 30, 16:39:08
And mighty warrior Yoshi has defeated many a foe by . . . er . . . eating them and turning them into an egg? I don't really know how else to describe it.
175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More turn ons/offs on: 2005 October 26, 23:02:19
Wrath has rewards. Seeing the severed heads of your enemies arrayed upon pikes on your lawn, and the frightened stares of the neighborhood children is well worth the effort it takes to convince the police that it's just an extremely realistic Halloween decoration, six months early.

I've got to stop hanging out here.
