101  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: annoying noise in my monitor on: 2006 December 26, 18:59:09
In my old pc, I had a loose graphics card, took me a month before I figured out that was the problem. And me hitting the computer every time it rattled only made things worse (although it was temporarily quiet). Then had to get a new graphics card because my sister opened up the case and jammed the card in its slot every time it rattled, thus causing the connection parts to bend and become even more loose. She was only 11 then, and pretty angry at the pc, so I don't blame her. But anyway, if you're not that far ahead yet, maybe you should take it out and put it back in (keeping the computer off while you're doing it Cheesy, and only if you know what you're doing.)

Maybe if it's a graphics card fan problem, you could reconnect the power cable of that fan. (When I first got my new card, it was the first time I saw a fan on a graphics card and didn't know I had to connect separate power cables to it. I should've looked at the manual much more carefully Smiley)

I'll try that next time, thanks Jordi. Baaaa!

In simwardrobe, I only have trouble opening multiple links at a time. If I try to open the programs page and objects page in separate tabs, it sends me to the main page in both tabs. So I go one link at a time in the same window. Not so good as I have to go back and forth a lot. Smiley
104  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: annoying noise in my monitor on: 2006 December 23, 12:24:03
My sister's computer was launching like an aircraft, if she turned it on at night, I could hear the fan from upstairs. And as it was a year-old dell, we were afraid to open it up and break the sticker, losing our guarantee. So I told her to stop hitting it and vacuum the fans from whatever cavity she could find in the tower and it worked! The dust must be sifted to somewhere else in the tower though, I can't imagine such powerful suction!

In my case (in my computer) I found out that one of the extra cables from the power unit was touching the cpu fan, and that was making a terrible rattling noise- easily fixed. And one time, I had left the side cover of the tower not completely locked into place, and it was rattling soo bad. That was easy too. I keep my fans very clean too. Smiley

Hey I just found it! It must have got lost among the hundreds of plants I downloaded Smiley

I see Pseudonymous, maybe I'll download it then, in a week maybe. Smiley Anyone else?
107  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Computer restarts while playing Sims--HELP! on: 2006 December 21, 22:51:52
I did speak to the manager and said I would never bring anything there if it was the last shop in the world, even their guarantee isn't worth it. I didn't yell (I was pretty shy girl) but I wrote a letter of my complaint to a big newspaper's customer complaints column with copies of the pc's first entering-slip (with date) and the bill and received-dated-slip. (In Turkey, it's pretty hard to get things done quickly, but nothing should take so long!)

I also told everyone I know never to go there, and most of the people at work saw my frustration as I called every day to check if it was done yet. If I was the person I am now, I'd have bitten their heads off the first week!

They said it took long because the motherboard had to be changed and they had to send it to the company for testing (in the same city). I know that company has a three day turnover, and I was on the phone to them too, every two days. But the repair shop (so-called computer hospital) was just too lazy to send them in. And if I took the pc out before they did anything, I'd have to pay a $75 detection fee. (and I didn't know of anywhere else I could get it fixed, the guy who supplied me with the pc parts and set it up went to South America-somewhere and we lost contact, so I learned everything the HARD way). Now I can do almost anything mechanic, I even fixed my radio! And light fittings! And my video card! And chain saw! Haha Cheesy

108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: IE 7.0 sucks on: 2006 December 21, 22:39:47
Can I just ask something? I thought I had firefox 2.0 installed before. Yesterday it reported an update and I installed it while I was on the phone, so I didn't really check the version. Now I look I actually have 1.5.0.9. But on the website it says 2.0 is available, but it can't be found when I tell the program to check for updates. Well maybe I never had 2.0 (can't trust my memory these days)
But has anybody tried 2.0? I heard it was a bit unstable, should I wait until the last minute to hop on? (maybe it is stable though, I could've been dreaming for all I know.)
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Burglar go bye bye? on: 2006 December 21, 22:12:03
I had a pet and no burglar alarm, burglar came for the first time in a loong while, and the stupid dog slept right through the whole thing! Smiley
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I can't find the mistletoe on: 2006 December 21, 16:14:50
Hehe, nope. I don't download too much christmas stuff, my sims live in a non-real world with no traditions or anything. I was just curious about what the mistletoe would do, if it was just decorative, that's the reason I had it. I wouldn't have a use for it now Cheesy
111  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Computer restarts while playing Sims--HELP! on: 2006 December 21, 16:03:56
My computer came back from the shop (after 3 months, as I mentioned before) and the crackheads didn't screw the processor fan in correctly, apparently it was hanging off. The pc kept shutting down in the time of a few hours, and back then I was a bit uneducated and scared to open it up and check. But  I checked from the BIOS and saw the processor was overheating (A LOT) so I took it back and insisted they take another look, as I had paid a lot of money.

The guy asked me if I studied computer engineering afterwards, he said 'how did you know, we screwed the fan in all wrong, hehehe, it's a good thing you noticed and brought it back in before it melted'. The nerve of that guy. Sad I just said it's not that hard to figure out, you should've seen it when you kept it in for an extra week for 'extensive checking'.
112  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I can't find the mistletoe on: 2006 December 21, 15:54:22
But I had it and used it too, but mine's missing as well, now that you mentioned it. Or did I download a mistletoe for sims1 or something. Hmm, now I'm all puzzled. I checked at the site, I could have sworn I downloaded it a loong time ago. I never got the holiday pack either.
113  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Computer restarts while playing Sims--HELP! on: 2006 December 14, 15:59:58
Mine used to do that, but later I discovered it could also restart during a normal windows task, and I had some trouble installing windows the last time; so I reinstalled windows *again* after formatting, but still had the random restarts. It was giving a driver error even after a fresh format with no drivers installed.

The problem turned out to be: I have 3x512MB Ram sticks. And one was slower, so I put that one on the last slot (or was it the first? can'ty remember, did a lot of research back then) and that was messing it up. I tried all combinations possible, and turns out, the slow one works best in the middle slot, the latest fast one I got in the last, and the one I bought in-between (also fast) works in the first slot. That's pretty stupid I guess, but I swear it's the truth and I haven't had ANY problems since then. No errors either.
But if you don't know anything about it, I suggest you send it to the shop. I couldn't because the only shop here ripped me off big-time and had my PC in for a motherboard change for 3 months!
114  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would new video card make a difference? on: 2006 December 14, 15:47:31
I'm not so surprised. But I know that my new video card didn't speed up loading time with my 9GB download folder; my new +1 GB of ram DID. I went from a load time of 45-50mins. to 25 minutes.
I first narrowed my downloads to 4.5GB (15 minutes) about a year ago, now I'm back to 8.5. I still have to sort through most of my skintones and ghastly hair. But I just fire up my game and watch some tv or eat. Smiley
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis content not showing up? on: 2006 December 14, 00:40:16
If you have a lot with the missing objects, use the eyedropper tool on them... it will show you if its overwritten by a custom object...
That doesn't necessarily mean that that specific item is overwriting it (at least it didn't work for me a couple of times. But in either case "with thumbnail there and object not showing" and "no thumbnail at all", it's custom content that's conflicting.
I take out my download folder, usually just the tables, if say, it's a table that's disappeared, and check to see if it has appeared, if it has, then I put half of everything (all tables) in, check, if it's still there, put the rest in 10 by 10, if the last 10 made it disappear again, I take those ten out and put them in one by one again. That way I can weed out the culprit. It takes some work, and I can't remember when an object went missing usually, and most of the time, the creator gets a few mails and has it fixed already. Good luck!
116  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Flashing Blue / Black born-in-game faces on: 2006 December 07, 17:17:44
Yup, happened again with some hats I downloaded yesterday, I changed appearance and it worked (even though I selected something else, then the same hats again)
117  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Flashing Blue / Black born-in-game faces on: 2006 December 06, 16:23:16
I've had that once, and it was a townie face whom I had just moved in. I can't remember too well what I did, she was a child sim, so I just exited to neighborhood (I may have even saved it before), and when I went back in, she was fine (though I also tried to change appearace via mirror, dunno if that did it). I use a replacement skintone and had no problems before, and haven't updated my Nvidia drivers since OFB came out. And it only happened once and like I said, all my sims use the same skintone, none of the playables or other townies had that happen.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something to do with invited friend... on: 2006 November 28, 16:38:03
Some outgoing sims do that, they just walk right in Smiley
119  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't throw parties? on: 2006 November 28, 16:33:08
Hey, I was just wondering, I haven't got any object packs, just the normal expansions, but again, I was wondering because I have a "HolidayNewYearsPartyPhoneCall_Override.package" pack in my overrides folder, and I didn't put it there myself. What does this folder mean? What do the contents mean exactly, should I be checking this folder at all? Just curious- haven't come across any problems or anything. Smiley
120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) on: 2006 November 23, 16:24:12
Do any of you have pets not fullfilling their needs to survive? I had a cat that wouldn't lick itself, although I was watching it day and night to praise if she even attempted to do it- nope she went waaay into the red, every other cat ran away from the smell. And I had one dog alone at home he refused to eat (from 3 different full bowls) and almost died! I didn't know of the cheat then, but the owner got home just in time and commanded him to go and eat. Maybe the dog was upset at being home alone? (social bar was green, by the way)
Pretty realistic to me Smiley
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 22, 22:56:32
So it'll be "v" chromosomes from now on? Or chimps are lesser men now? Cheesy We'll have some good-looking girlie chimps in a few hundred years then. (Note to self: Go to bed. It's late.)
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets and Community Lots? on: 2006 November 22, 12:13:46
I wonder if it's because of the visitor number limitation in your game?  How many guests/visitors can you have at a time?  I upped my limit and have more sims on community lots and as party guests than the game would allow me otherwise.
I have a limit of 3 customers and about 8 people can be emloyed on my business lots, maybe I'll use Paladin's customer increaser object and try again.
But I haven't played since I wrote my previous post, so maybe I still have to play some more to see Smiley
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dogs, maids, tubs and beds. on: 2006 November 21, 16:05:13

Can you post a link?
http://www.pc-sims.de/smb/showthread.php?t=3926&highlight=fire But it splashes water and raises hygiene of dogs, they can't  piss on it  (I think)
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets and Community Lots? on: 2006 November 21, 15:54:36
Yes, I got it but haven't tested it yet, I don't think it makes the teleported pet yours out of your will, but you have that option on the kite if you want to do it. But I'll have to check.
125  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Yet Another CC Not Showing Post on: 2006 November 20, 16:23:21
I delete my thumbnail from my thumbnails folder sometimes, and it always works. (though I back them up as I'm too afraid, just in case a big firey ball comes in) But the game always re-creates them. Smiley
