Oh, don't get me wrong...my first love is tequila shots with lime and salt.

Ever tried a Lemon Drop? yum

My drink of choice.  Which version are you?  a) Straight shot with a lemon slice and a packet of sugar, or b) shot with crushed ice and lemon already in it?  (I prefer A)

107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Card on: 2005 November 29, 00:12:29
I do not have any problems other than general lag on oversized lots.  My specs are as follows:

2.4 GHZ processor
ATI Radeon 9250 256MB RAM
1 GIG RAM
40 HD (slave)
120 HD (master)

The reason I put my specs is to say that I do not think it is your physical RAM or your video card.  The video card by my own self admission could be a lot better but is enough to run the game set with med/high settings as long as I'm not playing an oversized lot.  It could be your processor that needs an upgrade or you could be running out of hard drive memory.  The game is a virtual memory hog.  When you run the game unless you have manually set it otherwise most of your virtual memory is already allotted to other apps.  While playing the game it constantly borrows memory from the hard drive and swaps it into the game.  (virtual memory/swap memory)  Since you already have enough physical RAM and a decent enough video card I can suggests these things.

If you are running low on hard drive space:
Clean up unnessecesary programs and applications from your hard drive
Get an external or internal hard drive and move items to there

General items:
If you have Windows XP set up an administrative bare bones account set up just to run the game mainly and allocate most of your virtual memory to the game
Close all background tasks prior to running the game
Check your processor and make sure it's above the minimum game specs
Go to the ATI site and download the latest drivers for your video card
Defrag your computer and run ScanDisk regularly
During game play save often to dump the virtual memory
Check for Spyware/Adware and use removal tools to get rid of them Adaware or Spybot Search & Destroy (I use both)

There are other things I am sure that I just can't think of right now.  If I had a link to to a tip I tried to add it.  Anyone please correct me if I may be wrong or feel free to add.

Thanks for the reply.  I know Blue will be as happy as I am with your awesome skins.

I never did get the alien ones, when you have something back up and ready make sure to let us know.  I for one missed out on that and would like them as well.

LOL  Grin  Yes Blue I was asking for you.
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EUARGH! on: 2005 November 25, 17:37:41
I have your vampire skin and love it!  I know of a friend that wanted one and I had directed her to you just last night not knowing you had lost your site.  Since you do not mind us sharing your skins I would like to zip and email it to her and just wondered if it is only the one file I need to zip or if there is more.  The file I have is the DylanTK_DefaultVampirePaste.package.  Is that the only one I send or is there another part that I need to upload to her as well?
112  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Ghostly Nightmare of Nightlife on: 2005 November 25, 16:23:09
One thing I have done on my newest Legacy lot that I've never done on the others is I have had the heir of the dead ghost mourn the tombstones everyday.  Other things I had done, are all the beds for the adults are the four poster Maxi's bed.  It has the highest energy and comfort levels so I have just passed it down generation to generation.  Also I place all tombstones way out of the huge lot.  So whenever my ghosts have appeared they are happy because their beds are still there, they have a huge back part of the lot to roam and they just do not seem to be so angry since they are mourned so much.

Mind you, I am only in my third Legacy and only have three tombstones and ghosts so far, so I just may not be into the challenge far enough for the bad repercussions of ghosts.  But so far it's has been working for me.

115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sleeping on community/downtown lots on: 2005 November 20, 17:41:09
@veilchen: I haven't checked Inge's site real recently, I know she had the prison beds an pay items, I'll have to go back and look at them more closely to see if the beds are for the NL community lots.  Thanks for reminding me.  Cheesy

@maxon:  With the changelotzoning you are suppose to start the lot as the same thing you want it to be in the end.  For example if it's going to be a community lot then you set it as a community lot, then use the cheat to change it to a residential and once you have all your residential items change it back to a community lot.  (The reason is so that on a community lot you will not have a mailbox and if you use the same procdeure for a resident lot you will not end up with a trash can and phone booth on your residential lot.)

So if you are following that procedure to get your final lots and you are still getting a sleep option on your beds then I'm jealous and must be doing something wrong.  Smiley

Thanks, I really appreciate it.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sleeping on community/downtown lots on: 2005 November 19, 16:45:50
I'd like to be able to make hotels in downtown NL and would like to have beds, sofas and lounge chairs to be have the nap/sleep interaction unlocked.  Has anyone seen a hack for this or a tutorial on how to do it.  I've tried to add them to my game using the changelotzoning cheat but as soon as it's a playable community lot the options for sleeping and napping are gone from the sub menu.

I'm at work and can't respond as fast I would like.  But I modified my post.  Up a few hidden behind your latest picture.   Wink

(Just in case you didn't re-read it.)

Edit:  You answered my question when I stepped away.

Since it's all four that are affected and it's dragging your system when it happens it makes me think that your video card may be heading for the community memorial park.  Try updating your drivers from the manufacturer web site first.  (I know I have rolled back my drivers and not realized it when I did a system restore.)  If that doesn't help you may want to look into a new card.  They really are reasonable as long as you aren't looking for the dramatic bomb of a card.  I have a Radeon 9250 with 256 MB that I bought for $100 a little over a year ago.  I could definitely do better but it runs my game fine.  www.newegg.com is a great site for reasonable cards and they are really simple to install.
120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hacks may be causing weird side-effects on: 2005 November 09, 19:08:49
In The Podium the seond sticky thread is called "Official NL List" and list all the hacks that have been found compatible so far with NL.  Try comparing the official list with what you have.

Also I second what Brynne said, that you need to post specific errors.  It may help someone pin point your problem more.
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Objects Are Back Again on: 2005 November 09, 16:06:15
This may sound silly but just started happening with NL in my Legacy house.  I don't know if it was the custom carpet or NL but for some reason items placed on the ground by Sims and puddles disappeared from view.  If I didn't catch them being set down by the Sim then I had an usable tile and would have to remove the carpet in that spot to find and move or delete the offending object.

Although even in "invisible" mode I could highlight the object and get the Sim to clean it if it were a puddle.
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have Simpotence on: 2005 November 09, 15:28:53
Well like everyone else here I go through phases as well.  When it gets really bad is about a month before a new EP.  At first I fought it and tried to do different things like make a movie.  Which provided to be more frustrating because I couldn't think of a good enough plot and then when I thought of a halfway decent one I couldn't get it the way I wanted it.  (obviously that project was abandoned)

I have yet to play one challenge all the way through.  I try, I really do but mostly I end up online with the game on permanent pause.  I know it sounds like I have ADD but it's actually more like SADD (Sims Attention Defencency Disorder), I get interested in something and then it gets tedious and I abandon it.

Ahem <reloading>
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gaining skill points - the dating way! on: 2005 November 07, 13:52:29
In addition to skill points I've had Sims get promotions from previous dates giving recommendations.  If I remember correctly I think the date was in the same career field as the Sim that got the promotion.
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nannies on: 2005 November 04, 21:45:21
I'm one of those hated few that have never had a problem with Nannies.  Actually when I have them I fire my maid because my Nannies tend to do the cleaning out of boredom.  Mind you I do not keep swingsets or pool tables on my lot.

I did have an issue after NL where my Nanny would come as scheduled in the morning, leave when the wife got home, immediately come back over and leave again once the husband arrived.  I had a baby and two toddlers on the lot so I didn't care.  Other than that NL nannies have improved for me in that they truly do track the schedule even automatically with promotions and days off.

Long story short (yea I know... too late) out of everything that I've experienced I would agree with Emma.  Just cancel the schedule via phone and then rehire her.

Must be operator error.  Everyone knows that the Sims is soooo not buggy.   Tongue
