101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Survey at Official Site on: 2006 April 28, 06:20:43
I'm glad they're booting people off who click on the TS1 eps.  Hopefully that indicates that they are trying not to repeat ep ideas.  I see too many "bring back Superstar" or "Unleashed 2" ideas floating around.

I took the survey.  I voted for the Mystery one.  That one sounded really cool.

When you need to patch a game that only has objects, you know you have a problem.
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where can I find decent beds? on: 2006 April 23, 23:04:06
I use the Grand Trianon loft and bunkbeds in almost all of my family homes.  It's great for kids and teens who either share a room or have a room with not a lot of space.  Tiggerypum has some cute recolors for girls and boys.
104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is NightLife worth buying? on: 2006 April 14, 02:43:30
It's my favorite of the three so far and that's a bit disappointing because I wasn't gaga over it but at least it has something for every stage and adds more depth to interactions.  I'd say it's worth more than buying OFB but the two work better together than separately.  The inventory is god.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: townie backpacks too full? on: 2006 April 13, 06:19:33
Ooh, thanks for the link, MissDoh.  I've been looking for something like this.  I like having my playable Sims as shoppers but hate that they don't get refunded in full (or at all, in the case of food).  That Squinge is becoming my new best friend.  Grin
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any cheat to get Sim back on permaplat? on: 2006 April 13, 06:18:07
Yeah, the Lot Debugger was the first thing I tried and that didn't work for some reason.  And I think I actually (accidentally) took her off permanent platinum status.  It's a long story where the moral is that I'm stupid.

Is there any marker in Sim PE that I can simply check to get her back to permaplat?
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Any cheat to get Sim back on permaplat? on: 2006 April 13, 04:02:08
After many nights running on the espresso machine to build up logic skills on the chess table, my Sim finally got to the top of the medical career and earned her lifetime want.  Through a series of unfortunate events she lost the permaplat status almost as soon as she got it.

Is there any way to do it.  I can't be bothered having her fulfill another LTW the regular way, she's not even in my top 20 list of favorite Sims and I only her family because I have to play all the lots.
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alright, 'fess up! on: 2006 April 13, 03:46:58
As of right now...*checks* 5.36 gb and 19,803 files.

It takes me about 10,11 minutes to go from cd tray to actually playing a house.  I plan to prune it down to 3 gigs hopefully before the next ep comes out.  Hopefully.
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: townie backpacks too full? on: 2006 April 13, 03:20:59
I've got only one townie left in the main 'hood. She seems to keep only the last 3 items of whatever she bought. Her memory panel in SimPE also shows 3 items only. All my sims currently only own home businesses though. I've been keeping the businesses alive by selling stuffs to the NPCs that came with NL too, and they also appear to only keep 3 items. Undecided

Same here.  Just married a long-time townie who has bought probably up to 100 items and when she moved in, she only had two cakes and a cell phone (aka, the last three items she bought).
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A RUMOUR about the next expansion pack on: 2006 April 06, 00:55:10
Yes, they were extremely annoying in Unleashed and really didn't do all that much that was of interest but I'd like to see pets make a return (even though we all know they will).  With the new 3d engine and expanded gameplay, they could do a lot more with them.  They probably won't but they could.  As long as pets isn't the main focus and there are no uninvited strays this time, I'll buy it.
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Squinge found something interesting... on: 2006 April 06, 00:52:54
Now, THAT is something I cannot comment on, having no experienced it myself. I can say that discreetly or non discreetly, no woman should ever be told to leave for feeding their children.

Tell that to Starbucks.  Apparently the people running the empire were all brought up on the bottle, which probably explains their dour attitudes.  Roll Eyes
112  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti Business Decay on: 2006 April 05, 01:23:03
Does this comply with the 9-day cut off or override it (9-day cut-off being that your Sim's business stops making money after 9 days if they haven't been into the business since)?
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Squinge found something interesting... on: 2006 April 05, 00:47:21
Breast is Best <== I own a t-shirt that says that.

It's such a shame the way people look at it in the U.S.  I was breastfed until I was 2!  Poor Mom.  Embarrassed  But I'm big and strong like a Mongolian with a super immune system.  Also kids who are breastfed longer have higher IQs.  Wink

I'm glad Maxis didn't release it.  If it's Maxis, it's glitchy and the last thing I would want is a glitch where the mother gets stuck in the action and she spends the rest of the day with a baby attached to her tit.  Shocked

Hell, I get that now! (Sorry the pic is so big, but I'm at work and I can't adjust it here)

Haha, I knew it would happen!
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would you download a hack from a modder who says stuff like this? on: 2006 April 04, 23:44:39
On the topic of annoying creators, I left a passing post on MTS2 on some celeb sim, saying that the sim was pretty but dissimiliar to the celebrity, and then the creator swoops on me and announces that her work is "objectively" good. Someone has quite a big head...

Gasp!  A big head?  From a Sims creator?  But they're all so humble, caring more about freely sharing their works than credit to their name.  Clearly you must be talking about some other game.

The quote from Christianluv wasn't mean, just flip and rather pompous, but then again so is just about everyone else who makes just about anything on MTS2 or any major popular Sims 2 download site.  If I based who I downloaded what from on their humility or whether or not their attitude pissed me off, my downloads folder would be sparse.  I don't have to socialize with these people, I just click and go.
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Squinge found something interesting... on: 2006 April 04, 23:39:11
It's in the adult section for the same reason the Sims don't pull their pants down when they pee even though there is a censor.  Naughty bits are naughty bits, says the ESRB and angry Christian soccer moms of America, no matter whose food supplier they may be.

I'm glad Maxis didn't release it.  If it's Maxis, it's glitchy and the last thing I would want is a glitch where the mother gets stuck in the action and she spends the rest of the day with a baby attached to her tit.  Shocked
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remote Income Decay on: 2006 April 03, 22:05:54
The restocking isn't a problem.  What I want to know is how he has managed to own more than one Level 10 business by just having his Sim sit on his ass and do nothing.  Or rather, what hacks are in play?
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remote Income Decay on: 2006 April 03, 21:19:07
What? What kind of businesses are they?
119  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remote Income Decay on: 2006 April 03, 14:19:01
Hey, these Level 10 businesses don't make themselves, you know.
120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would you download a hack from a modder who says stuff like this? on: 2006 April 03, 14:00:01
I find, from my own experiences with Finns, (<==disclaimer so as not to piss off any Finnish people) that they come off as a very cold people in demeanor even though they may not be so.  It's the lack of sun.  Scandinavia has high levels of depression.
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would you download a hack from a modder who says stuff like this? on: 2006 April 03, 13:32:53
Actually, I laughed at this when I read it (but then again, I have a mean sense of humor).  Classic example of bad customer service.

Sorry, non-native speakers get a lot of slack but that "answer" to the question is flippant in any language.  A simple "my hack isn't the cause of your problems" would have sufficed.  Unless he's Finnish, then I guess I can cut him some slack.

I remember downloading that hack but I took it out because I never used it and so never saw the point.  Glad it didn't coincidentally crash my game and I didn't have to go back on the thread to report it.
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remote Income Decay on: 2006 April 03, 13:25:23
How is the check-in sum calculated, I wonder? Is it based on the previous day's take or something else?

I'm not sure about the check-in sum, but I've been playing with the remote income variables for too long Smiley  the remote income calculation is based off the average of the last five sessions worked.

So.

If you work five days a week at eight hours a day equalling 40 hours (those are your five sessions) and you brought in 40,000.00, you earned approximately 1,000/hour.  Your business -should- bring in about 8,000 daily as the initial calculation.

That said, if you work five days straight (Mon-Fri), try to bring in as MUCH as you can during those five days, and your remote calculation will be higher.  It's uncertain whether the money perks factor into this - I'll have to test it further to find out.

Check in sum is equal to 100% of the calculated income, based on on a 40-hour work week (completely disregarding any sort of sweatshop-like business our Simmies might run), but if you don't check in, the most you will get is 50% and then it decreases by 20% I think, every day after that until you are left with empty pockets and your children wondering why mommy/daddy is a failure.

UNTIL NOW!  The hack's been working fine for me for the way too many hours I have been playing.  So far, no income decay as long as I check in.   Grin

Update:I forgot to ask if the hack overrides the 9-day cut-off for making money off remote management.  I've only played for 3 days so I haven't come to this yet.

Also, any chance of making a rider hack that allows for no decay without checking in?  I'm not lazy.

Updated again: Here's a pretty thorough breakdown of remote management/income decay from the Prima Guide on the BBS

EXPERIMENTAL:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/ofb/test/antibusinessdecay.zip

Untested, since I don't have any situations like this to test it in. So you try it.

HOW IT WORKS:
If you checked in that day, then there will be no decay. If you did not check in, there is a 50% chance of decay.

Puppies everywhere breathe a sigh of relief.

I'll test this out on one of my bakery chain stores tomorrow.  Grin

None yet.  I made a request a week or so back.  I would kill someone's puppy for such a hack.
125  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The perfect tool for the download addicts on: 2006 April 01, 21:23:53
Attention all download addicts.  I will surely be called an "enabler" for this....

I found this awesome new extension for firefox that makes downloading a snap!.  https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=201&application=firefox

If you are like me and insist on downloading a picture for every download (and if you are not, you should start, it makes things SO much easier), you know how tiresome right-click, save as, becomes.  DownThemAll presents you with two tabs, one for linked files and one for embedded pictures.  You can select with a checkmark all zipped files, and/or all picture files.  It makes selecting a snap.

For some sites, that just link their files, it's a snap to select all the pictures and files in one go. For some other sites, like MTS2, that use java script for their downloads, it's still very useful, because the pictures are just linked and you can download them all with a few clicks, instead of having to click on a picture. wait.  wait.  wait.  Right click, save as....rinse and repeat.

And last but certainly not least....it downloads like greased lighting.  I'm sold.  If this app would cost money, I'd pay for it.

What do you mean by downloading a picture for every download?  Using a picture of what you are downloading as an icon?  I'm slow.  Huh
