TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this a Sea Level Fix
|

OK, here's what happened why I tried changing the Z value on a house that was lower than its neighbors. I checked the Z value of the adjacent house, then I loaded the house I wanted to raise and changed it to the Z value of the first house, commited, saved.
When I went into the neighborhood the house was still at the original elevation, but something was changed--the driveway was clearly not connected to the street and the red overlay that shows a houses level when you mouse over it with the grab tool in the houses bin showed that the level was higher than the house currently sat. I picked up the house and put it back down. It was at the old level.
However, I then picked up the house and put it down on another part of the street which was on the same level as the rest of the houses. It didn't drop, and looking at it in SImPe it was still at the new level I'd set it to. The street remained level. The spot where it had been remains lower and the street is still distorted.
So, it can be done if you first place the house somewhere other than where you want it to be, change the elevation and then move it.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Is this a Sea Level Fix
|

I'm asking here because I don't have an affected home to use as a guinea pig.
Over on a non-awesome board someone had downloaded the Curious brothers' house from someplace and put it in a neighborhood. The "sea-level" was so low that the house was underwater and the poster wanted to know if there was away to fix it.
I was wondering if the method of raising the level used for fixing occupied beach apartments--changing the Z value using the SimPe Lot Description Editor--would work? You'd have to get the corrected Z value by putting an empty lot on the location of the lower lot to find out what it should be.
But like I said, I don't have any currently underwater lots to use to test this.
Come to think of it, would it work to fix those annoying cases of houses creating a valley and distorting the road in front of it when a house built at a lower level gets put on a higher street?

These are great. I have a question, though. Is there a way to use this on individual Servos or must all Servos look alike? One of the things that drives me crazy is that if you have more than two servos--one male and one female--in a neighborhood it's impossible to tell them apart.

Lerf - the difference in the path would be why it's not finding them. Is that the typical install path when the game is installed on other drives?
katemonster - redownload SimSheet-debug and try again.
Probably. When you install on another drive you're prompted for a folder to put them in and that's the one I chose as there wasn't any point to putting in a "Documents and Settings" and a <my name> folder.

OK, maybe it's jet lag, but I'm missing something.
I tell it how to find the Test SimPE version. But there is no way to specify a neighborhood. The drop down in blank and I don't seem to be able to type into it. My game is on the F: drive. I don't know if that has something to do with it or not.
When I hit import I get an error rufio {outpath} {-hood hood) {-group group} Which is, I assume telling me that I haven't specified a neighborhood.
I'm lost.

even just plain old "don't share my stuuuph" content.
You're going to get a hell of a lot of backlash for that, if you started a site with that aim. Even most pirates don't support going against free creator's wishes re: sharing content. Yeah, you're right. Only a daydream I guess. Oh, well.

Check for the Helper files anyway. My virus checker said "access denied" or something when it popped up, but it had downloaded the helper.dll, etc. anyway.
I suspect it was the reason I kept getting random popups and popunders constantly, even on sites like MATY that don't do advertising.....

Since there is a site where the downtrodden can acquire pay objects for phree, I keep wondering if someone could do a site where it was possible to share houses they've done wiith pay custom content or even just plain old "don't share my stuuuph" content. Like the house I built with SImPlanx windows last night, that I'd really like to be able to pass on. Yes, I know CC doesn't always package with the content, but in that case it could be included in the .rar file. One of the things I looked forward too in Sims 2 was being able to share houses without shopping lists. ![Sad](/smf/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

No, there really was an MTS2 trojan. It wasn't specifically part of the hack, but it WAS triggered by going to MTS2. Apparently, MTS2 wuz h4x3d.
So was InSim and Retail Sims. Bloodhound Trojan. My husband had the same thing happen at a non-Sims site. Apparently it's an epidemic. Huh. I think that's the one my parents just got. They took the computer in for service since I'm not going to be there anytime soon. For the amount they paid for service, they probably could have gotten a new rig (theirs is getting really outdated). And I was yelling at my dad for going to disreputable porn sites. FYI: if a folder named "Common" opens on startup showing two files helper.sig and _helper.sig that's the one I got first from MTS2 and then from Retail Sims. I know at the time I got infected it tried to open Adobe Reader, but I got an "this is not a .pdf" file message and an alert about the Bloodhound thing.

Avoiding the ever-fascinating topic of Pescado's home life, could someone else check to see if raking leaves is borked? I used to be able to tell super neat Sims to rake leaves and they'd happily keep on raking them until the leaves were gone or one of their motives went into the red. Now, I have to tell even my 10 Neatness point Virgos to rake each pile individulally and the gardner has stopped raking them all together.

And the vehicles for Sims2 aren't nearly as much fun as the ones for Sims 1. I used to keep Sims stuck in the "Clown" job on the circus career just for the fun of seeing them get into that little clown car. :lol

Canceling a "go someplace" or "go to another lot" or "go home" action once it's started should cause something close to the error the original poster mentioned. Good enough for testing purposes. I'd try it but I don't do Macs. Spent years trying to ignore a Mac is the "One True Computer" evangelist who was, even without the Mac-fetish, one of the most obnoxious human beings of my acquaintance. As a result I wouldn't touch a Mac if the only alternative was doing each calculation for the game with pen and paper. ![Tongue](/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Check to see if the furniture is in the apartment but invisible. I had this happen once before the patch and several times after. The post-patch invisible furniture was all in one particular set of apts I'd built myself. Another apartment, also built by me, and already with one tenant didn't have the problem.
Edited for stupid typo.

I love the program, but I have problem on a new neighborhood. I've added a pair of sisters and I can't seem to get the "full siblings" dropdown to "take" the relationship. That is I chose Linnea McGill as Cremorna McGill full sibling, click on Add full sibling and it doesn't update--Full Siblings remain none. I'm guessing they are only siblings because you made them that way in CAS, and their parents don't actually exist in your game. Basically, the program doesn't really keep track of siblings, just parents and children; it figures out that two people are siblings because they share parents, and causes sims to become siblings by making their parents the same. If there are no parents to share, they can't be siblings. You can always add their parents as ghosts first, and then set it up so that both sims are children of the parents. BTW, didn't I just assassinate you in Oblivion? Buh? If you mean "are you the same person who has the username rufio on another site I frequent", the answer is probably no. As Rufio is the name of a character in Hook and a pop-punk band, there are probably approximately 3242352 people using it as a username somewhere. The only non-sims-related site I've used this nick on is one I haven't logged onto in years. OK I'll just make a couple of dummy parents. Oops. Sorry. In the game Oblivion if you kill someone who hasn't attacked you the next time you go to sleep a cool guy in a black robe shows up beside your bed and invites you to join the Dark Brotherhood. To pass the "initiation" you have to kill some old guy named Rufio....

It also doesn't work if I click on Add Full Sibling and chose Linnea McGill. Don't know if it's my mistake or a bug.
The Add parent and child relationship seems to work fine. I don't currently have any married families in this neighborhood to check the other settings.

At least with these you can spot them instantly. You don't find yourself thinking "Hmm now just *which* of these blue hydrangeas should I click now...?"
I used to have that problem with the "Stay Things" shrub and the teleporter shrub. At least with the cat teleporter I only have one possible shrub to look for. OTOH it blends in with most decor. (And since AL I don't have the "ST" shrub at all. Unless it's been updated for AL, I suppose I should wander over and look.)

I usually just put them in the foundation, even in occupied apartments they're still clickable. Lotsynctimer--that's trickier. Is it possible to change the appearance of that one? It looks really strange with artdeco decor.
