TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just so you know, a neighborhood can only handle so many lot clones...or not

That's certainly interesting! Actually yes I was able to get back in the neighborhood... the cloned houses were all flashing black and red... I deleted them, everything is fine again. I don't really know why it happened then if it wasn't some kind of limit on clones. Maybe it was the total number of things I had because there are alot of little streets and squares.
Don't be too sorry... 1. it seems to be ok again, and 2. I like making new neighborhoods and I don't get too attached and don't mind starting over.
On that note does anyone know how to get FLAT terrain, at least in the very center where the houses go without doing that? It seems no matter how flat it looks in SC4, its still bumpy when you import it.

I just blew my neighborhood up... (not mad, blame myself) I was placing clones of a 5X5 lot on my map to straighten out the terrain, since they won't let you level the train in some logical way... and anyways somewhere after 9-10 clones are plopped, the neighborhood crashed so hard I had to unplug my computer because I couldn't even shut down with the restart button. Just thought if anyone is as dumb as me, you might want to know.

Wouldn't that fill your neighbourhood with half brothers and sisters that can't be married?
That's what I was wondering too. The townie poll is only so big (if you use notownieregen). A few generations from now your Pleasantview will be turning into a haven of rampant incest. According to one of my teachers at school, incest is not as uncommon as you think and its not so bad either. LOL, but anyway I don't really care about the effects on my neighborhood because I love to make new neighborhoods and delete the old ones without looking back. Pleasantview is really my torture arena, where I experiment on my sims with all manner of cruelty. When I play the premades I usually leave without saving after a session of tormenting them. I don't really care if Pleasantview blows up as long as it waits until after I meet my challenge. I was mostly curious about what would happen when you go to the family tree... how would it handle looking at Don with 100 branches? Oh and by the way, I actually do not use notownieregen, or any of the critical fixes... really the only hacks I actually use are noemptyfridge, and noemptypotties, and nofriends for careers. This is mainly because I usually blow up my neighborhoods before the game has a chance too. Since I don't usually add uni or downtown to my game, and now that I know not to lotbin... my neighborhoods don't blow up.

You are WIERD!! Why don't you throw a party, invite the condemned sim and put them in a dark room with no electricity..or doors or windows.....Or better yet, put them in a pool, delete the ladder and then it can spend the rest of it's ghostly life puddling all over your lot and destroying everything in its path.
Faster to cremate them by putting them in a sealed room and placing some "buyable fire" in there or one of those flame pots from NL. Ever tried drowning a sim? It takes forever. One could also "Influence to Take Cake" from a cow plant and reap the benefits. I found those firepots make exceptionallly dramatic executions. I once made a glass walled chamber 8x8 with a fire pot on every square. The condemned had fallen asleep on the floor, so I turned on all the pots in pause mode so they would fire at the same time... he slept for a little while in the flames and then woke up and caught fire. It put me in a great mood all day!

It's my goal to get 100 babies off of Don Lothario. I don't play him so he lives forever. Would this destroy the neighborhood? Not that I really care, but before I get too excited I'd like to know if the game will blow up before I get to 100 babies.
By the way this is a fresh install of pleasantview with no downtown or university.

Ah, yes, the kiosks. I'm so glad those were optional! I didn't dowmload those. They're just little pixel people, but I couldn't make them eat McDonald's. I saw screencaps from TSO...that game just never appealed. When did it finally die?
People still play it, but I think its been dead for years. TSO was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced (I've been lucky) and I'm still bitter over how bad that game sucked after how much promise it had.

Got the link from Snooty. http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/jan2006/id20060124_792815.htm?chan=tcThe Sims 2 Open for Business, the expansion pack in the popular Sims franchise that hits stores in March, allows players to launch virtual restaurants, stores, and other entrepreneurial ventures. But, oddly enough, they won't be able to interact with true-to-life financial services companies, or see any on-screen versions of objects, food, or clothing representing recognizable brands. Although the game's publisher, Electronic Arts (ERTS ), considered product placements and even wrote some into early storylines, the game's ad and design staffs decided against it. More at link This article makes it sound like that Counterstrike game invented ads in games, but I seem to remember Intel computers and mcdonalds kiosks in The Sims 1, and in TSO. I wonder what changed EA's stance when they did it before?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Do you know where I can find this mesh?

I see this beautiful hairstyle on "models" for sims2 websites, but never see a link to the mesh! Its a beautiful formal style high up do, done into large hot-role style ringlets. I know its not a pronupsims hairstyle, but I beleive I've seen it there before on a model. Appreciate any help, thanks!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: There is painful and then there is excruciating

I never bothered much with sending my kids to college. I only did it once, long ago, before my hiatus. I had forgotten how dull it was, and how incredibly loooooong it takes.
I started a new neighborhood and wanted to make my new family more rounded by graduating them from college. I want them to have access to the LTW, multiple wants locking and new careers and rewards. Blah, is all I can say. It's even more boring that I remember. I finally resorted to locking the needs decay and just having them do assignments, essays and research at triple speed and then having them take the exams soon as their bar if filled. Even then it's boring and too long. So that took care of that, but I don't look forward to having to do it over and over again
Any tricks on either speeding up the process, or making it at least more bearable? like in oh, I don't know...fun?? I don't send my sims to college at all. I just use merola's mulitpainting (modthesims2.com) to get them in any career I want and there's another hack, I can't remember where I got it though, anyway it looks like the money tree but it will give you the want locks and slots. The new nightlife cheat will also give you all the careerrewards. Only thing my sims don't have is the stupid diploma.

Pronup sims hair shows up in the correct colours. I can't get some of the styles to show up in my game (this is probably just my incompetence, don't mind me), but the ones that do are excellent. They are all quite fancy, though which may not suit your sims. http://www.pronupsims.net/I love pronupsims hairstyles too, but they show up in the custom bin.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims made in Bodyshop... saved where?
|
on: 2005 December 20, 01:37:35

I had always thought Sims from bodyshop and packaged sims from the exchange were saved in mydocuments/sims2/savedsims , however I looked in there and only had 3-4 files. I removed those, but still have close to 20 sims that show up in bodyshop. I'd really like to delete them. Where are they saved?
Thanks!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Cars with no interactions at community lots

I found a few posts where this bug was mentioned, the one where you drive to a community lot and then your car no longer has any interactions forcing you to leave in a taxi, but I didn't see if anyone figured out a work around or fix... Is there any more information on this bug anywhere?
Thanks!

Just a quick question about this... I haven't been able to play since nightlife is out because of my real life... (ew real life sucks, but I'll be back home and simming in one week) so I was wondering if someone would breifly explain the limitations of flying as a bat? I had the idea of sealing off a room that humans couldn't reach (like on higher floor without stairs) and having the vampire fly up to it at dawn. Now I'm thinking that probably the bat flight thing isn't that useful.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hacks for preventing people from following your sims home?
|
on: 2005 December 06, 15:53:11

If you mean - following him from Downtown - you need the Phone hack.
When you are at Downtown, and want to go home alone - select a sim, click on the phone booth, and order him "go home". Select thus all the chosen group, until your sim is left alone. Then call a taxi.
I was talking about visitors that follow your sims home from school or work. I usually have the sim who brought them home immediatly say goodbye, but I hoped for something that would keep them from every coming home. I think the two hacks mentioned previously will work fine. Thanks!
