Title: Broken dining table
Post by: sloppyhousewife on 2007 October 03, 17:46:35
Since BV, the most expensive 3-tile dining table is broken, at least in my game:

As you can see from the picture, it behaves like a 1-tile object, I can place it in walls or place other objects in it (no move_objects on used here).

I had a bed with a missing tile-marker (or whatever these green thingies are called) once, which caused a bad jumping and actions-out-of-queue-dropping, but I replaced the bed and had no problems afterwards. This table keeps behaving weird, though. It's the original Maxis one, no CC, and has never seen any inventory.

Any ideas what might cause this or how to solve it?

No answers until you post a picture of a sim sitting in the chair in the middle of the table. :)

(And sorry, no, no clue about this -- I'll probably play later tonight, so I'll see if it acts the same way in my game.)

Why not :D:

And no, he wasn't placed there per move_objects either. Just went there and sat, with the normal animations (pulling the chair back etc.) as if the chair stood at the table edge (rim?).

Ooh, gonna play soon I'll check then. :)

As with all things BV, this is not a consistent problem.  This particular table works fine in my game (just moved a couple into a house the other day and got them this table for the formal dining room).  All things normal in Mittelschmerz.

I am seriously wondering whether some of the current BV issues derive from earlier EPs or Stuffpacks.  I have BV loaded on top of only Base and Uni, and have a lot fewer problems than the NL/OFB/Seasons folks.  Perhaps this is just coincidence.  I'm not keen to spend money to test this.

Maybe; I have all EPs and SPs except H&M, so I'll see if it's borked in my game.

I have all EPs and stuff packs, and a handful of awesome hacks.  That table is working fine in the one house I have it in.

Does it still happen with CC removed? I've had a similar occurance when a custom table was overwriting some part of the Maxis table, removing the custom table resolved the issue.

Same here. No stuff packs, but all EP's, and the table is fine.

Once again, I place the blame squarely on tight pants.

Thanks for the hint, KLGFCG - I have seen several original objects disappear completely because some CC overwrote them, but I didn't know that they can be overwritten only partly.

Once again, I place the blame squarely on tight pants.

:P

do you have testingcheats on? I'm only asking to see if you are getting any kind of error message. The hammocks do something similar with their placement squares in my game but also give an error because I have debug on all the time. (there is something messing with my hammocks that I have yet to find)

No, I don't play with testingcheats on usually, but I'm going to sort out the guilty CC as soon as I get home (at work now), it can't hurt to turn them on while I'm at it.

Doesn't hurt at all.  Main thing I find is that I have to resist the temptation to drag needs bars up, adjust interests, and do other cheaty things.

Oh who am I kidding.  I hardly ever resist.

But it doesn't, by itself, DO anything to hurt the game if it's on.

Yes, I know. I just keep forgetting to turn it on. I should really put it into my userStartup.cheat finally, but I keep forgetting THAT, too :D.

By the way, I found the culprit - it's the table from the Simstylist Toronto set, if anyone's interested.
