Title: BV game crashes and unusual game artifacts
Post by: Madame Mim on 2007 September 16, 00:31:43
Recently a french lady came into alt.game.the-sims-2 and asked for our help with her BV game and we tried, but haven't been able to help her. So I thought I'd bring her problem here in the hopes one of you might be able to help.

A picture of the game graphics she's getting http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3513/artef1fh2.jpg When she posted this I knew I was out of my depth and that's why I've come here. I've never seen this before.

Hello,
proud that this add on has a french name ;-)

I have installed Bon Voyage and after 3 hours playing game, I have the
screen full with artefacts and I have a message "direct error 3d
d3derr-not available! the appli will ve closed" and the PC crashes.

I have a NVidia 8500 GT and I have no problem with other games (I play
NWN 2, Loki, Diablo and so on)

Is it a bug ?

I'm very deceived, because my PC is new (1 week) and yet Sims 2 are slow
with the new add on BV. :-(
Dual core 2.2 GHz, 1 Go ram....
Windows XP SP2

We have suggested upgraded video card drivers & 'boolprop useShaders false' (back before we saw that picture) and I (for one) have no more suggestions. Please can anybody here help Michelle?

Yea, that's definitely a graphic driver issue with the nVidia cards.  She needs to update her video drivers.

Thanks. She says that she has the latest drivers (and double checked this) and that Sims is the only game with strange problems. I suppose the next step will be to advise taking the drivers back to an earlier version.

Ah hah! Re-rechecking her video driver version has revealled an even later one than she had - all is working fine now - thankyou.
