Title: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Dark Trepie on 2005 October 13, 00:16:16 Since I've seen a few people ask for this, and I was wondering myself. I decided to go throught the bugfix list for both the Uni and NL patch and see which hacks/mod would be made redundant.
Feel free to add on if I miss anything, because I'm sure I'll overlook something. I'm comparing this list to the list of hacks in my downloads folder. All of which came with the MATY .zip package. 1. * Eliminated a bad reset that prevented Sims from becoming enemies of one another. nmefix.package 2. * Sims no longer play the extended browse animation when purchasing an item from the clothing rack. fasterbuyclothes.package 3. * Shortened the amount of time that children show their A+ report cards off to their parents nocheeringhack.package 4. * Fixed issues that occur when the same Sim dies on multiple lots. nocorruptdeath.package *possibly* 5. * Lowered frequency of Child Sims aborting queue actions in favor of greeting their parents as they returning from work. hugginghack.package 6. * Fixed a bug that prevented large groups of Sims from entering the helicopter carpool. carpoolfix.package *not sure here as I've never had more than one sim get in a helicopter at one time* 7. * Sims who write great novels now receive the memory for "Wrote Great Novel" rather than the Sim who answered the royalty check phone call. noplagiarism.package 8. * Fixed a problem that caused pianos that have been owned for a certain amount of time to cease providing fun. pianofix.package 9. * Level 6 Greek Houses can now accept pledges fratfix.package 10. * Eliminated a problem where Greek Houses were not accepting the proper amount of pledges per level. Same as #9. 11. * The "Cheer Up" interaction no longer causes crushes between Sims. norandomcrush.package. *weather this was fixed with the career reward objects has yet to be seen* 12. * Sims no longer get crushes from playing handhelds together. handheldfix.package *weather they still meet themselves has yet to be seen* 13. *Fixed a reset that occurred after multiple generations of large families that prevented death from completing properly for Sims in large, multi-generational families. Symptoms included missing inheritance, tombstones, and a lower Sim population cap per lot. nocorruptdeath.package 14. *Fixed a rare occurrence of a reset that would leave a user unable to save or quite after a Sim gave birth. badbirthfix.zip *possibly, I've never run into this one* 15. * Wants for specific electronic devices no longer roll in after a Sim owns that electronic device. nogizmowants.package *if this even worked in the first place. It wasn't in Boris' list* And that's all I can come up with. Again, feel free to add on if I missed anything, or if I've got something totally wrong. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Regina on 2005 October 13, 00:21:24 Thanks for making that list! The cheering problem was fixed with Nightlife but none of the rest were! I've made a note so once the patch is installed I know which ones to remove. :)
Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Motoki on 2005 October 13, 00:26:26 15. * Wants for specific electronic devices no longer roll in after a Sim owns that electronic device. nogizmowants.package *if this even worked in the first place. It wasn't in Boris' list* TwoJeffs also has a NL compatible no electronics wants hack. If you had it and yank it out, you'll still of course get those wants, but they'll stop once you buy them those items now so it's not nearly as annoying. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Ancient Sim on 2005 October 13, 02:31:50 Not sure about nocorruptdeath as that relates to the jagged memories and the description doesn't sound as if it pertains to that. Might be wrong, but to be on the safe side I'm leaving that mod where it is for now.
Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: linolino on 2005 October 13, 02:42:59 about the carpoolfix.zip for the helicopter, there 2 other things that the hack fix about carpools beside the loading of sims in the helicopter:
1. Inappropriately dressed friend from work: Friend is now properly dressed in accordance with own rank. 2. Unloading clog for vehicles with insufficient doors reduced. so maybe we should leave it there? Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: YYZdnl on 2005 October 13, 02:49:41 Still need the coffee cup hack. Started running the game post patch and that was the first hack I had to quit the game so I could load.
Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Qwiggles on 2005 October 13, 02:51:25 "# Reduced the possibility of non player characters becoming stuck in dormie's rooms due to door locking."
Could that mean we can remove "novanishindorms" from our fixes? "The lot view options are now saved properly after exiting and restarting the game." - I guess I can remove the workaround command (lotskirtsizeincrease) in my userstartup cheat, too. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: jenflower on 2005 October 13, 03:07:01 Thanks for the list!
As far as the nocheeringhack goes, J.M's version of this fix also routes the students closer to the mailbox before opening their report card. He called it "bus unloading clog". So, we might want to keep this one in for that reason. For now, I don't think I'm going to install the patch until I see that my favorite mods have been tested and updated for it. And then maybe we'll get our romance mod back again soon...maybe maybe maybe... ;) Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Dark Trepie on 2005 October 13, 03:15:17 I'm reluctant to remove nocorruptdeath as well, as this fixes a game exploding bug. And I don't see what it would hurt to leave it in.
For carpoolfix, none of the friends my sims have been bringing home have been dressed for their appropriate rank since I installed NL. But since it fixes carpool clog other than what can happen with the helicopter, I'll leave it in. And it seems nocheeringhack fixes schoolbus clog, so back into the Download folder with that! Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: dsk on 2005 October 13, 03:29:42 THanks for the list -- it's really kinda sad that JM and TwoJeffs fixed most of these problems a long time before Maxis got around to it. At least they're finally fixing things, though.
Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: gali on 2005 October 13, 03:35:31 After I installed NL, I didn't dare to use most of the hacks, among them the carpoolfix, noplagiarism, fasterbuyclothes, fratfix, norandomcrush, nocorruptdeath, nogizmowants, badbirthfix, buyfasterclothes, and fratfix.

Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Dark Trepie on 2005 October 13, 05:45:21 It could very well be. All of the hacks I have from JM came from his Director's Cut. And I don't see anything in there that says deathfix. I should go rooting throught The Armory again soon.

Post by: twink on 2005 October 13, 10:53:00 I did email them about the fact that the top of the Mad Scientist career was wrong and every Mon. when they are not scheduled to work a vacation day is subtracted and the fact that the options/view neighborhood sets to default every time you play.
The first does not show on their list and someone on a forum said with the patch installed the options/view neighborhood are greyed out....this allows you to go to adjouning houses with returning to the screen. Has anyone installed the patch and found this to be true? Thanks, Twink Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: nectere on 2005 October 13, 13:33:15 If I recall correctly the hugging mod prevents your sim from going around hugging random strangers or people they do not qualify to hug to being accepted. You get a relationship hit each time you do it and its rejected, nice/popular sims are very huggy, thus get rejected a lot. I think it was the nowelcomehome mod that prevented children from jumping up and rushing to hug mom or dad upone arrival home.
I installed the patch after I moved all mods that modified sim behavior to the desktop. I had no problems installing it. After that I culled my folder for what I thought I may no longer need. I havent had any problems. I didnt check the neighborhood view options though since I tend to run out of virtual memeory pretty quickly when its on, even though I am running to spec. Just make sure to complete the finals before installing it. One of my sims was taking the final exam, but his grades were at the highest, so even though he missed the final, he managed to complete the semester with C- ------------------ "Fixed a reset that occurred after multiple generations of large famlies that prevented death from completing properly for Sims in large, multi-generational families. JM said that the squiggly line memories were created when a sim died and a second memory was created for that death, however with no subject. Why this memory was beeing created, was apparently not known, so i think that the following fix is the one corresponding to nocorruptdeath hack: 4. * Fixed issues that occur when the same Sim dies on multiple lots. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: linolino on 2005 October 13, 16:50:04 yeah, well, they haven't fixed the sound problem with the bowling object. the ball hitting the pins still doesn't make a sound.
Also they did not fix the clog of unloading from vehicles, so school students will sitll clog the front door of the bus while they open their report card. And also adults that come home from work and do that i'm home animation will do it in front of the carpool door, not allowing others to unload from the carpool. They also didn't fix the students from university from ruturning from class and clogging the pedestrian portal. MAXIS!!! please make sims unloading from carpools and bus, and uni stendents coming back form classes to walk to the mailbox first before doing their animations! Fortunately we can still use the carpoolfix.package, nocheeringhack.package, moveawayfromportal.package with NL after patch with no issues. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. One of my sims was taking the final exam, but his grades were at the highest, so even though he missed the final, he managed to complete the semester with C- ------------------ Ahh... good to know. As for Pescado's hugginghack, I don't think it entirely eliminates the hugging, since I recall Pescado burninating after being called a softie or something for keeping that part in. :D Actually, I believe that it prevents the hugging from completely obliterating the child and the parents' queues. So instead, the hugging just gets queued up, but the priority isn't super high that it stops everything the child was doing. I'm not sure if there is a hack that completely eliminates hugging altogether. There might be one, but I'm not sure. If by "no welcome home" you mean that Family sims don't do their "I'm home" animation, I believe dizzy2's hack for bringing home food (grocieries or pizza) from work also eliminates this animation altogether. But again, I don't think his hack eliminates the hugging. *shrugs* Ste Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: nectere on 2005 October 13, 17:34:22 my bad "no welcome home" I think might have been done by phedge but all traces to anything he made have went poof from VS. In fact I think JM had a subforum over there in his area that he allowed other people to upload a few mods to and phedge was one of them, which is why I mistakenly tied it to being one of JM's creations. I used both the hugging mod and the no welcome home in conjunction to completely squelch the running to hug the parent after work because the no hugging mod alone didnt seem to obliterate it 100%.
I could have sworn there was a no stranger hug mod though. I guess I will have to go look at an old backup CD of my most treasured mods. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: nectere on 2005 October 13, 21:31:30 it must be the hugginghack even though it refers to child/parent interactions I have seen it described elsewhere as no auto hugging.
I still use the no hugging and nowelcome home and they both still seem to work, plus no stranger hugging occurs as well. I just went throught my mods last night after installing the patch and taking out what the patch was suppsoed to fix and leaving what I thought wouldnt interfer. So try that one, I cant tell you where phedge's no welcome home went... Phedge! Where is it? Which way did it go? Am I blind? (I am old...) Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: jenflower on 2005 October 13, 21:44:12 I don't think 'nohugginghack' affects stranger hugs...looking inside the file, the only behavior function it changes is the one called "Parent Greet".
There was a 'nostrangerdance' hack - I remember that one, but I never did see a 'nostrangerhug' hack - if there was one, I wish I had downloaded it before it disappeared. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Peel on 2005 October 14, 06:26:29 15. * Wants for specific electronic devices no longer roll in after a Sim owns that electronic device. nogizmowants.package *if this even worked in the first place. It wasn't in Boris' list* The nogizmowants.package basically curbs Sims enthusiasm for buying gizmos unless there was a kiosk around and prevented Sims who did not have a hand-held from rolling a play hand-held with another Sim want. My understanding of this fix done in the patch is that with Nightlife when something is placed in their inventory the Sim loses (or lost) any notification that they have that item. So when the Sims purchased a gizmo and it went into their inventory there was no marker/token/whatever to indicate that they already had that gizmo so the want would re-roll later because the game was not recognizing that the Sim already had that item. I had a popularity Sim who rolled a want to buy a mobile phone, he purchased one and received the 500 or so aspiration points for the purchase. The next morning he rolled the buy a mobile phone want even though he already had one. He then rolled this want every bleeding morning. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. He has a 1 in niceness and he goes around hugging people he doesn't know. But if I ask him to hug he has to give me the whine. My nice family sims are the ones in all the fights. They are usually trying to admire or play red hands to quickly. By the time I got to my mean Scorpio male, I was expecting to find some potential enemies but all I found was positive relationships. I had to send him downtown to look for a fight, with his hugging, it didn't take too long. I don't know how he avoided negative relationships so long when it only took him 1 sim hour to attact someone--I guess he wanted to impress me ...lolTitle: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Post by: Andygal on 2005 October 15, 22:47:48 I've been having a terrible time with my mean sims since NL, well they always had a knack for antagonizing people but how it just seems that much worse.
Especially a mean/neat sim that I have, she's very neat so she gets furious anytime she mops up a mess somebody else made, and she's mean so she stays furious for a while and is extremely prone to poking, shoving and slapping the person she is furious with. And of course she's always trying to clean up automonously, I have to stop her from mopping up somebody else's mess so she won't end up furious with them. I like the furious state but it's a bit over the top at times. Sims fly off the handle at the smallest things. Title: Re: Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List. Post by: Brynne on 2005 October 15, 23:09:10 I just moved some sims into a new house downtown, and they have a teenage son named Xander. One of the teens from the Tricou family tree (apparently adopted, since she has a different last name- Carly Todd, or something like that) came by and began arguing with Xander immediately. I made her selectable just to look at her character, and she and Xander have three bolts for each other! Yet every single autonomous action she did was "poke", "argue", "throw waterballoon", etc. Xander is furious with her, but still gets all swirly hearted about her, just the same.
