Title: No More Bug Infestations While Gardening in Seasons
Post by: breanan on 2007 August 13, 13:10:48
Does anyone know if a hack has been made to keep bugs from getting into the garden and trees? I looked on the site but I couldn't find anything. I'm bad to overlook stuff so I figured I'd post here asking. I apologize if its a topic already open!

A greenhouse works wonders for bug-free veggies, fruits, and trees.

Does greenhouses do that by default?  I thought that was an awesome hack of some sort.

I don't have a bug-free gardening, because that's what the entire point of greenhouses is, but I *DO* have an anti-lag which removes the visible display of bugs and ladybugs, which can slow your system to a dead crawl. It is presently unreleased.

Yes; plants in a greenhouse are not affected by bug infestations.

Yes. Greenhouses have no insects.  You do have to build a two-story greenhouse for your fruit trees to accommodate their height.

jfade has a hack to keep the ladybugs from swarming during the night and nongrowing season.  http://www.djssims.com

My greenhouses fit the fruit trees at single story height? I haven't noticed them poking through the roof - though that may not be saying much - it takes me a while to notice things these days.

There is some clipping, at least I saw it when I tried to place them in a greenhouse. Doesn't affect gameplay apparently though.

You must be growing dwarf hybrids, Witch.   ;)  I've used two stories because when I first tried building one, I plopped down the trees and then built the glasshouse walls.  When I saw the treetops were higher than the walls, the second story went up.

Will try to fit them into a one-story glasshouse.  Cheaper.

It depends on how large the greenhouse is.  The bigger it is, the taller the roof will be.

Yes; plants in a greenhouse are not affected by bug infestations.

Just make sure you put a roof on the greenhouse, otherwise you will get weeds and bugs.

My greenhouses are about 8 squares wide, the trees are 2 empty squares in from the sides, there is a little bit of clipping at the edge of the tree top, though I don't notice as I play with cutaway walls.
