Title: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: jonayla on 2007 June 07, 13:59:33 I'm posting it here, though I feel like this is too retarded to ask..
I have installed tons of hacks to remove stupid behaviors or actions or stuff. And now I'm lost. Something is glitching and I can't live without them. :'( I'd like someone to help my stupidity. What should I remove? I have read the manuals (of the ones that come supplied with one) but I can't understand which ones could prevent others from working. I have tried to remove some of the hacks, but it would take forever (and a lot of restarting the game) to test all of them. The only real problem I see is when my teenage sims applies for college (and should get all the scolarships based on skill points), it gets one award, then the game glitches for a second, it's sort of a jump bug. The phone is back in its place, the sim is standing there minding its own business.. When I call back to college after that, the rest of the scholarships are granted. So, I've decided to come here and beg for help. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: Gwill on 2007 June 07, 14:11:30 That's a lot of hacks. To you have them all bundled up together like that or are they in subfolders?
Edit: Having read through the list I don't see anything that I immediately know will conflict. I don't think it's the phonehack, since that's one of the most tried and tested hacks on the site. noundeaddormies.package and nouniprotect.package are perfectly compatible. One just keeps dormies from being unaffected by starvation and sleep deprevation, the other prevents zombies from moving into your dorm. Have you tried Paladin's hack conflict detector? Also, you need to get an error log. I think you can get instruction in the sticky FAQ. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: jonayla on 2007 June 07, 14:31:21 That's a lot of hacks. I know that's a lot of hacks. :) I'm suprised I'm only getting one obvious glitch :D To you have them all bundled up together like that or are they in subfolders? Bundled up like that in Downloads -folder. I keep other stuff in their own folders like this: Downloads hackity.packages - Objects - FloorsWalls - Facefiles (face replacements) I had them in their own Hacks-folder but I figured it would be better if they were in Downloads. HAHA! Found a little critter inside my Objects -folder. There was a newscolarshippontiacsomthing and a reward of some kind -packages in there. I removed it, so let's try again. I also have some kind of a college adjuster (the phonebook). That hasn't given me any trouble before so it can't be that.. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: floopyboo on 2007 June 07, 14:36:36 My instinct says that if you don't know what it is, you don't need it, so chuck it. (well, pull it out & see what the hell happens)

(well, pull it out & see what the hell happens) Saw what the hell happened.. New_College_Scholarship_Pontiac1979.package and the other one were the ones that messed up my system. Meaning: All the hacks are good and I can keep them. ;D OH happy joy joy the day of sunshine. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. From my reading of other threads, it looks like you would be better off downloading those hacks into separate folders named after the modder (Crammyboy, Pescado, TwoJeffs, etc), as sometimes hacks if loaded in the wrong order, might conflict. From my understanding, the modders here will build on other Awesome hacks, so they need to be loaded in a certain order. Having them in the own separate groups would also allow you to quickly see who makes your hacks, where to update them from, etc. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: akatonbo on 2007 June 07, 15:56:54 I find doing something to organize ANY kind of downloads so you have at least a vague idea of where they came from is useful, but it's vital with global mods -- that way you don't have to wonder what the hell 'noteleportpuddle.package' is.

I just thought it would be easier for the game to look into less files, but that way I could keep all the rtfm's in the files and have no more of them "what does this do" -moments. I'm so happy I didn't have to ditch any hacks. They keep my Sims alive. I used to fry at least one sims family a week because I was so poofed on the stupid things they did. By the way, has anyone done a hack to remove/less autonomous fishing? It's kinda annoying I can't have a pond without every single visitor going fishing when I want my sims to flirt with them.. I just MIGHT add that to my long list of hackety-hacks. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: bekka on 2007 June 07, 18:29:24 Squinge at Insim has more no autonomous hacks than you'll probably ever need. Check there if MATY dosen't have one.

I have gone through Squinge's lists five times today and I didn't find it. I need another pair of eyes. Or a new brain. Hmm, I should come here and ask questions every time I don't know something, because my problems are solved the moment I push the Post button. ;D EDIT: Google is a very nice thing to be around.. Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: Process Denied on 2007 June 08, 00:50:39 This doesn't help much but I have seen that hack before and I usually only visit this site and the InSIMinator site. It is Squinge at InSIMinator. I don't know how to link but it is listed under EP5 hacks(Seasons).
Title: Re: Hacks are burning me.. Help.. Post by: KatEnigma on 2007 June 08, 13:16:47 One thing to watch out for is that Pes updates his hacks often. So check back at least once a week to see what he's fixed. ;D
