Is there any way to get my maids to compost instead of trashcanning all of my garbage?  (Consisting mostly of dirty dishes, as per Pescado's excellent suggestion, I have no dishwasher or trash compactor or sinks anywhere in my houses anymore.)

If the garbage can is kicked over by a furious sim, do the maids compost instead?

Hmm, my maids put stuff in the compost bin.  Not sure if it's a hack from here that fixes it or not, but I haven't had that problem.

But yes, if the trashcan is out of action for any reason (kicked over, walled off, etc) the maid will put stuff in the compost bin instead.

There's a hack (maids use compost) on MTS2. Jsalemi, you probably have it (as do I).

Thanks very much.  I was hoping there was Awesomeness I had overlooked, but fences around the garbage can and/or MTS2 will have to do for now.

I've spied maids composting as well, and I most definitely do NOT have a hack that would cause this. Maybe it was just a fluke, though?

Maybe a path issue -- I seem to recall (before I got the hack we talked about earlier) that if the compost bin was in the maid's path to the trashcan (i.e., right by the front door), the maid would compost instead of schlepping all the way out to the trashcan.

I've had maids compost automatically, and maids who didn't do so.  In the latter case, if I had a Sim interrupt them on the way the trashcan and then pick up the dropped trash and compost it, the maid would compost it the next time.  It's like they need an example of the desired behavior or something.

This is the 'maids use compost' hack (http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=230075). I thought it wasn't working properly when I saw in game that maids still put newspapers in the trash, but just read that that is the way the hack works.
