Title: The Monolith Post by: dizzy on 2007 June 03, 08:26:10 Nothing says aesthetic like simplicity, and what could better say simple than a monolith-shaped house?

The outside may be plain, but the inside has been engineered for optimal use for around 10 to 20 sims. Includes space on the side for a garage, a dog house or a garden (not included). To install, unpack the zip and copy to your LotCatalog folder (rename as appropriate). This lot has objects which require Uni and Seasons EPs. My lame attempt at a bribe is this custom terrain which includes a small plateau, from which you can overlook the other peasants from your dark citadel (dark citadel also not included). Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: Sagana on 2007 June 03, 12:49:30 That looks a lot like the setup I use for the 7 toddlers challenges, but just a bit too big (don't wanna run too far).
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: rohina on 2007 July 02, 12:56:28 0.01 for aesthetics. It's a box. With no windows.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: Annan on 2007 July 02, 12:57:50 Why do I expect monkeys to come and poke it? ;)
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: dizzy on 2007 July 02, 22:21:32 My art teachers would all strongly disagree, but I humbly accept that rating. ::)
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: Ambular on 2007 July 02, 22:26:38 My art teachers would all strongly disagree, but I humbly accept that rating. ::) I've found that many art teachers (and architects) have a sense of what constitutes 'attractive' that is somewhat removed from that of the general populace. However, I wish you better luck with the technical merit portion of the competition ;) Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: rohina on 2007 July 02, 22:51:14 It was the deliberate flouting of the criteria that earned such a low score.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: dizzy on 2007 July 02, 23:03:47 It was the deliberate flouting of the criteria that earned such a low score. In that case, I got screwed on the first criteria (coherence). I understand if you weight heavily based the effort involved. Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: rohina on 2007 July 02, 23:14:20 Well, it was more about the "How is it not a box?" rule. It is hard to see theme when there is no decor.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 July 02, 23:15:24 It wasn't black enough, anyway. The monolith needs more blackness.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: Lorelei on 2007 July 03, 11:35:31 Making it a vertical, black monolith with Komei and other ape-faced Sim Townies ook-ooking at it would have gained you back the aesthetic points you phailed to acquire. Especially if the wallpaper inside was all patterned with stars.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 July 03, 11:52:46 I think making it vertical would either have resulted in no ground floor space, or a massively tall structure exceeding the legal number of floors.
Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: dizzy on 2007 July 03, 22:33:43 I agree about it not being black enough, but there just aren't a lot of good Maxis wallpapers.
Vertical gives you 9 floors which is no problem in OfB or newer. The real problem with vertical is all the space you have to waste on stairs and/or elevators makes it difficult to design. The lack of any serious space on any one floor would be annoying, but I think it could possibly be designed around. Title: Re: The Monolith Post by: J. M. I always play those separately.
I'm not sure how you correct the tubs. They're already at the end rooms, so a sim can only be shooed toward the showers. Shooing doesn't occur frequently enough in my case that I considered it a problem. Gendered Doors don't cause issues for me. :P |
