Title: Winter clothing Post by: trudy on 2007 May 25, 17:26:52 I just noticed my poor sims all look alike in Winter. Anyone know good sites to look for nice Winter outfits?
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2007 May 25, 17:37:22 About all you'll find are recolors. http://www.hairfish.com/mermaidcove/html/2clothing_allages_SNSouterwear.html
Edited to add MTS2 link: http://www.modthesims2.com/quicksearch.php?tag=maxis%20outerwear Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: Zazazu on 2007 May 25, 18:39:25 I have some stuff from sims2sisters that I've recategorized as outerwear. The butts have joined the TSR brigade, but you can get their stuff in the booty. tsr/sims2sisters/clothing. It's pretty quality stuff overall, except that they of course feel the need to do 20 recolors of the same mesh.

http://modthesims2.com/download.php?f=498&showType=2 <----- female http://modthesims2.com/download.php?f=499&showType=2 <----- unisex The search feature at mts2 is seriously crappy :P Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: purplehaze on 2007 May 25, 19:02:58 http://www.all-about-style.com/ Quite a few here. Some recolors and some new meshes.
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: trudy on 2007 May 25, 20:50:34 thnx a lot, now i have a few :-)
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: Gwill on 2007 May 25, 21:58:37 I've recategorized a lot of stuff from this site: http://hnote.net/ as outerwear for my own use. Great site for menswear, btw.
lueppi (http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=53957) at MTS2 has some clothes that look convinsing as outerwear. http://www.sim2-fashion.de/ has some warm looking clothes, but I think those needs to be converted too. http://www.simsecrets.biz/ also has some nice jackets for females. minanna (http://www.modthesims2.com/member/minanna) also has some nice jacets for men. My only beef with them is that they lack a fat morph. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: akatonbo on 2007 May 25, 23:01:58 The link that ZiggyDoodle posted, btw, is excellent -- converts existing Maxis outerwear type clothes into actual in-game outerwear. Won't work on custom recolors of the meshes, but it still increases the available outerwear quite a bit, and SimPE or Body Shop will take care of that.
I also snagged some recolors from TSR, and made a few myself. (I love the women's cowled sweater.) Need to make some more, maybe I'll upload them. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: Gwill on 2007 May 26, 10:43:56 I shiver at some of the things people consider outerwear for females. Maybe it's my Viking blood, but it would not cross my mind to go outside with bare knees.
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: witch on 2007 May 26, 13:12:06 Oh exactly! I didn't get any of the ones with bare knees, I feel cold just looking at them. The raincoats for summer showers are fine, but for winter it needs to be warm clothing. :D
Last winter in the south island it was the fashion to wear the low slung jeans and the midriff tops for the University girls in Dunedin - and probably elsewhere but that is our southernmost uni and these are supposed to be the smart girls. They wore hats and gloves and scarves, just with bare midriffs. I can imagine there were quite a few kidney complaints by the end of winter. I saw an item on the news, I presume it was true. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 May 26, 13:23:32 Yes, and where are the Dead Animals? Everyone knows Dead Animals are the best winter clothing.
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: floopyboo on 2007 May 26, 13:38:15 They're on mts2. Where else?
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: akatonbo on 2007 May 26, 13:43:54 Yes, and where are the Dead Animals? Everyone knows Dead Animals are the best winter clothing. There's always the fur coat from GLS. ;) I did a recolor set of that, including one I called Pink Muppet. I should upload them. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: Berg on 2007 May 26, 14:08:37 A little bit'o shameless promotion here, but... :-[ I have a military-style parka for male teens on my site (see siggy). It's a custom mesh but it only has one recolour so far.

I'm talking about real dead animals, the kind you kill, skin, and eat.Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: floopyboo on 2007 May 26, 14:39:26 Wasn't there something like that in the fugly furniture thread?
Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: Gwill on 2007 May 26, 15:07:17 Yes, but that's "glamorous" factory fur. I'm talking about real dead animals, the kind you kill, skin, and eat. Not to mention it has bare ancles and high heels. I suggest people go out and try walking on high heels in deep snow; it's great fun to watch. The PSI of a stiletto heel is higher than under the foot of an elephant. If it's sharp enough, it might actually be useful on ice, but never on snow. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: witch on 2007 May 26, 23:53:24 The PSI of a stiletto heel is higher than under the foot of an elephant. Now that's interesting! I always think the bigger the person, the more silly stiletto heels look. Mind you, I think they look silly at any time, hard to run in too, bad for the back and feet - but hey, supposedly it makes the butt stick out, like monkeys advertising for sex. Title: Re: Winter clothing Post by: chordin on 2007 May 27, 07:59:27 I get shivers when I see their bare hands.
I live in northern Europe and the temperature can be something from +5 to -20 at winter. I remember how shocked I was when people started to post pictures with sims making snowmen and snowballs and none of them had gloves. I really don't understand what EAxis was thinking when they put gloves in only few outfits. And most of the creators make the same mistake. >:( Maybe they have seen snow only in pictures. |
