Title: Game go boom during loading Post by: JenW on 2007 May 19, 12:26:55 For the last few days I have been getting the dreaded "This application has crashed. This application will terminate" error message while the game is loading. The biggest change I made between game loading and game asploding is I tweaked the startup cheat file :P No new hacky things other than some updates of Pescado hacks. Deleting groups.cache and cigen.package does not help. Bodyshop loads and works fine.
I'm attaching the logs though they don't look terribly helpful to me, but I dunno what else to do :P Anyone have any ideas, other than the obvious that all JenWs are stupid and suck? Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: Sleepycat on 2007 May 19, 14:52:20 does the game load if you remove the startup cheat file that you tweaked?
Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: JenW on 2007 May 19, 15:15:12 *blink* Err nope, it doesn't. All I did was add the locktiles cheat, why would that crash the game? ???
ETA: Here's what I added, did I do something wrong? Is the alias too long? alias locktilesoff "boolProp locktiles false" alias locktileson "boolProp locktiles true" and boolprop locktiles false ETA #2: I removed the line of the cheat itself and it loaded fine. WTF :P Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: gjam on 2007 May 19, 17:32:13 Try putting "" "" (two pairs of double quotes) at the end of each line.
Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: Hook on 2007 May 19, 19:53:41 We did the quotes, didn't help. Was the first thing I suggested.
When Jen took out the line to set locktiles, the game loaded normally. Then she tried using the locktiles cheat in the neighborhood view, and the game crashed as before. Looks like locktiles can only be uses when on a lot. Stupid Maxis. It should have been ignored, not crash the game. Hook Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: JenW on 2007 May 20, 02:21:40 Yep yep, what Hook said. Makes no damn sense at all :P
Title: Re: Game go boom during loading Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 May 20, 13:25:21 Maxis code, period, makes no sense. It's sort of like how NL can crash mysteriously from code that never actually runs. It makes no sense, as if a C program would compile but then crash purely because of a piece of code for a different OS merely EXISTING, despite being #ifdef'ed out.
