Here is a lovely one. It is among the first meshes made for the game after it became possible, and is a first effort for the creator. Poor guy was roasted alive, but a lot of people actually defended  this monstrosity.

Part of the fun in following the original thread was laughing at people who would come up with uses for this... this... I don't even know what to call it. Someone said it looked like a car seat and someone said it looked like a throne for a royal sim. :D

It looks like something I might end up with if I were testing something, just to see if I could stretch something out, but I sure as hell wouldn't attempt to post it as some kind of usable product.

Didn't you know, J.M., that "One man's junk is another man's treasure."? And that "this may be something that someone has been looking all over for."? And that the creator "[had] something going there."?

The worst part of feeEssen's stuff is that in THEORY, she's got some good ideas...some of her kids' stuff and the organ SHOULD work and SHOULD be hella-cool. But They're just not. I even tried to recolor one item, to see if it was just a crap-ass texture, and it's not. The meshes are...well....in a class by themselves, really. Judges, please consider a special award just for her!

My ultimate furniture peeve; items that don't stay within their slots!
The first one is apparently done in order for it to be placeable at the foot of a bed without leaving a large gap, but they could have made an effort and at least cloned it from a 2-tile piece.  I can't remember if it's a decorative object, or whether it actually has table-slots.
The second one is a table, and those deco thingies on it, are a part of the mesh.

It's hard to see from the picture, and I'm sure not going to put this back into my game to get a good shot of it, but this bench-thingy is clearly cloned from a 2-tile sofa, and none of the seating slots line up with any part of the mesh.

I think the fruit chairs are probably inspired by the fruit chairs from the "citrus set" of furnishings in Animal Crossing.

I kept wanting to talk about the 'Barney Rubble' set.

And as for bedspread girl, she looks like she's about to have a large pole shoved up the wazoo.

The one above the bedspread girl (and I agree about the pole) made me quite nauseous.  *shudder*

Fwiffo, that's the same thing I thought of when I saw them. By comparison they simply suck more, though.

Tish85's crap really is atrocious, though. Especially her tiger set, considering that she has some kind of horrid food to go with it too.

The scary clown! The infant themed table and chairs! Imagine if the chairs came to life, holding the sitter in their seat. I'm not going to sleep tonight (clown will eat me)  :-[

I think the clown chairs came from the circus 'mini expansion' pack a player made. Probably MTS2? So they are on theme for the circus and not badly done.

In all fairness to Fee Essen, I had to shop for baby stuff a few weeks ago, and most of the crap in the store was similarly brightly coloured, lumpy, and fugly. The Maxis kid stove is an example.

I thought someone had determined that all of this is lost on babies anyway, hence the creation of relatively tasteful mobiles with black and white patterns.

It was difficult to find plain, solid-colour items for the baby-to-be. Everything had a crappy design or foul colours. I ended up spending far more time hunting for stuff that didn't make me want to poke my eyes out than I expected.

For babies I like white, lemon, mint, baby blue or baby pink. Not colours that make me want to gouge my eyes out :D I hate bright coloured baby things, whether it be clothing or furniture. Toys are ok, cos they are supposed to stimulate the baby.


That baby table and chairs-eek! :o I have never seen such ugly sims either....

Just as Whore clothes were disqualified in the last contest if they were labeled as such, shouldn't ugly furniture be disqualified if it was made that way on purpose to fit a bizarre theme?  I think the clown chairs and anything made as a joke shouldn't qualify, nor should anything copied from a TV show, movie, or non-Sims game.  After all, it's even more horrible if it's supposed to be useful in the average sim house!

Recolors include an ‘all-wood' version, and one where the duck has a black bill and red eyes.  The mesh does not include an actual hole, so aim carefully.

I think the Parsimonious stuff doesn't qualify because it is actually nicely made, and the pieces are fine individually. It's only overwhelming when it is all together with the walls and floor - I use that crib and change table a bit in more modern houses.

Actually, I don't think this one looks so bad in the previews.  I had it downloaded at one point.  Its true awfulness is only apparent when you try to use it in your actual game, and it explodes out of its allotted space.  I hate shit that goes through walls.

Yeah.  That's awful, but understandable.  But why choose such an incredibly ugly pattern?  And what I find really bizarre is that the same pattern on the upholstery of the sofa is also applied to the wood of the table and chair.  WTF?

Now that couch would be fine in a different colour, very good for a flat or starting out sims, I've seen plenty of couches like that. Even the shading and buttons look OK, but the accessories and the colour, well, ick!

Hmm.  I actually find the sofa vaguely pretty.  The mirror is over the top, though, and what's that stuff on the floor?  I guess it's supposed to be pillows.

Maybe we can have a separate month for the most gaggingly "feminine" stuff. :-)

You know I reckon they pinched the sofa from somewhere, recoloured it and added the clumpy stuff to go. Look at the curves and detail on the sofa cushions compared to the hearts on the mirror/TV or the legs on the stool/endtable. The couch legs are quite well-detailed, except for the blobby black trim. The pink of the couch is not the same tonal range as the pinks of the pink hearts, wonder if it's not even recoloured?

Gah, you're right.  Now that I go back and look at it, it IS a TV.  It would be much less awful as a mirror!  I guess my brain was protecting me from the true awfulness. :-)


I dunno, I kind of like pink.  There were years when I never wore it, and then I made friends with a transgendered guy who was way into all manner of "feminine" stuff, and I decided that if he could like it, I could, too.  Some of us have to take the hard way to things. :-)

Texturing vs. meshing are obviously 2 very different skills; we see examples of that everywhere in the rampant abundance of horrific textures applied to meshes we know are great, or mesh creators who are smart enough to say "I made the shape, but suck at textures'

The sofa does come in a range of colors. And it's really super-cheap simolean-wise. I have it, and I've used it in new households.  :-[

That thing in the green room is an eagle? I should have guessed. Jingoistic Americana also makes me ill when in high doses. The blurriness and the shade of green just make it all the worse.

A house should not be a temple to whatever political / religious beliefs you hold, to the exclusion of all else. What's wrong with having normal furniture? Not to point fingers at just one or two groups of folks, the pagan Simmers are also bad about this. Stoppit already with the totem animal wall hangings and bedspreads, and pentacles do not need to be embossed on every single surface when designing a furniture set. Most pagans I've known have had good interior design taste, though, to be fair, one or two erred in the "if it is good enough for an unwashed hippie, it's good enough for me" macrame / beaded door curtains / shag rugs / beanbags decor direction, and a handful went in for "if it is Goth, it belongs in my house" route.

Eh. Never mind me. I went for years not even liking shirts with logos or text on them. Broadcasting what designer made my shirt or a trite phrase was not my bag. I've since lightened up a little on that front, and have a few shirts with band logos or music-related text on them, but I rarely wear them in public, except to my gig at the radio station.

Apparently I have no taste, because I liked most of the stuff Frivolous posted (sans the chimney-inspired fountain...WTF?) and that set. None would be staples, but I'd use them. As for items going through walls, that does definitely annoy me.

Okay, so you like tigers /Elvis /sacrificing goats /golf, doesn't mean you need to have this motif on every single piece of fucking furniture in your house! A little restraint, people, please! Sure, make up some posters, or even a bed cover with whatever theme floats your boat, but you really have to draw the line at having your terlet /toaster /shower curtains match these same damn theme. Who the hell does this? What planet do they live on?

If it's possible I think I may have seen worse in RL. I have a friend who, many years ago, decorated her daughters room in a licensed characters theme, just not all the same character. So picture a room with Barbie curtains, Little Mermaid sheets, Beauty and the Beast coverlet, My Litttle Pony rug and so on and so forth. My eyes! She stuffed as many different characters in there as she could. Her daughter loved it and my daughter was jealous.  :P

I saw that one earlier today... How, and sweet Lord, why? This Svetlanka shits out thousands of flood-filled butt-ugly recolours every week but she seems to have made at least some progress now - multicoloured butt-ugly recolours!

SvetLanka always seems to recolour really obscure meshes into really horrid colours, and mark all threds at MTS2 with "[insert item here] recolor by SvetLanka!" as if it was a trademark or something.  If I had a name like SvetLanka, the last thing I'd be doing was advertise it.

why does mts2 feature the most outrageous things no one will ever use? two featured uploads from the past that come to mind are a house pushed into the corner of a 5x5 lot with what looked to be 20GB of CC splattered all over the rest of the lot--ugly terrain paints, unessecary cows and chickens, etc (it was supposed to be a farm lol)... as well as a COUCH CAR. wtf.

Well, that's because Katy (who makes most of the stuff at the Sims Mod Board) is hacker, not a mesher.  It's like expecting Pescado to make gorgeous items for his various controllers. :-)

The thing is, the mesh looks to me like the sort of angular good-idea-but-bad-execution monstrosity that FeeEssen churns out, and she and Katy often work together.  I sure hope Katy hasn't been taking meshing lessons from Fee....

No, the poly count is a bit high for a fence. Not to mention that it wouldn't look very nice if it was repeated all the way around the lot. :P

I feel this creator needs an honourable mention in this contest.

Dddrake at TSR (http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/cmid_709559/sims2/sets/) specialises in recolours to match the 21 Maxis carpet colours.  He has recoloured stoves, fridges, kitchen counters, kitchen chairs, kitchen tables, pool tables, desks, chess tables, lounge chairs, sofas, bookcases, toilets, hot tubs, baths, showers, mirrors, bedding, wardrobes, end tables, lamps, etc in the same 21 colours.  When FFS came out, he produced further sets of 5 recolours of some objects to match the FFS carpets.

He has even produced 21 wall tiles and 21 floor tiles to match the 21 bathroom object recolours (which were done to match the carpets in the first place).  So we have tiles to match the carpets thanks to this creator.

Of course, we all want our sims to have a kitchen in "recycled toy".  And barfing up in a "pina colada" coloured toilet is going to make our preggie sims feel so much better.  Especially if the floor tiles match.

Back when TSR still rotated quality stuff into free rotation, it used to be damn annoying to check out what was currently free and have to go past 21 stoves and 21 kitchen benches to find anything I might actually use in my game.

Ooh, I remember Dddrake from the days when I actually used to visit TSR. Those tiny little squashed up pics of all that recoloured shit used to make my eyes hurt. And then you'd have to scroll past about 400 pages of this crap because it was ALWAYS on the free rotation.

What I want to know is, who the hell is downloading this stuff? Who are the people who think an entire kitchen done in the exact same babyshit brown shade is the height of style? They need to be taken out the back and shot, whoever they are.

I guess I'm nominating more for the annoyance factor than anything else.  To be honest, after going back and having a look at his stuff, there are one or two of his recolours that I'm thinking of adding to my game.

I have another entry.  This beauty by feeEssen accosted me while I was en route to innocently browse paintings by justmoi.  It's not the subject of the screenshot that bothers me, it's everything around it.  The table, for instance.  Notice how thick the surface is, and how peculiarly the table legs seem to exist perspectively - the back legs should be sticking through the wall, but they're not.  They're just... wrong.  And the colors!  My God!  She must have done a LOT of drugs in the 70s.  The curtain above the table is also puke-tacular.

It looks like an ass-grater, designed to reduce your ass to ribbons if you sit on it. And it's very square-looking. No doubt to discourage people from sitting on it.

It's a terlet for the Ethiopian challenge.  Placed behind bars, so you show it to your toddler and say "Now *this* is why we use bushes in our family ... but if you're a really bad sim, we'll open the cage and leave you in there with it."  Would work for me if I was a simkid.

From the screenshot posted here it actually looks like the little bumps on it are pointy and sharp... kind of like someone stuck thumbtacks all over it.

I actually have one of feeEssen's meshes in my game (the bird perch that's pictured on page 1 of this thread) only because it came with somewhat better wood recolors by Hairfish of Mermaid Cove. I was very unpleasantly surprised when I first saw the base in all its ugly colored glory in Buy Mode!

Oh good grief.  At this point I'm really curious ... just what is going through these people's heads?

Interestingly, the toddlers will change into pj's by themselves and put themselves to bed. But for two toddlers to sleep together in the same bed, they have to have enough relationship with each other, just like adults who won't sleep in beds with Sims that they don't like enough. Because toddlers can't actually engage in relationship behaviors, some cheat must be used, such as using 'testingcheatsenabled' and dragging the bars until the relationship is high enough, or using Insim to make them friends. After that, they will sleep in the same cot autonomously.

Why on earth make a crib designed for outdoors, and then make it look like it is made of cheap plastic? Surely a rattan number would have been more in keeping with the idea.

I have some feeEssen stuffes - the meshes that looked ok to me, or (as above) someone did a good job of retexturing. And she does have some really unique and fun ideas. Shame her implementation is so bad - she should maybe consider getting a texturer to work with or something?

And good on her for fixing it so it works at least, but I still don't want that twin crib thingie. I cannot imagine that in any of my sims houses. But maybe someone will fix it up or something.

Than I'm not *that* picky apparently - as I have a few things of Buntah's too - (a tire swing and some rocks that are diving boards and pool ladders iirc.)

You know now that you can cheat to make the crib work it'd be cool. But the damn thing is so fugly that no one will want to use it. I do hope someone fixes it up or makes a better one cause I really would like something like that for two toddlers.

That mesh is actually technically interesting, because of the way it behaves when a sim sits on it. It also looks like used packaging material, but that's probably what it is.

I don't think it's too bad, at least the mesh looks good. The colour is not very nice, agreed, but that could easily be changed. Meh, guess it's only a matter of taste ;)

I got one of those for my 6th or 7th birthday :D I had wished for it and was thrilled when it was revealed that the big box my mother had kept in her bedroom (I was being told she stored it for a friend) contained a bright, BRIGHT 80's-pink beanbag!

Well, until I tried to sit in it. And realized it was the stupidest piece of furniture ever invented.

It was funnier poking a hole in it and watch the "beans" cover the floor. I blamed the cat and the beanbag went to the trash...



Okay, I'm finished and will shut up.

The bean bag chair is far too well made to qualify -- the only thing actually wrong with it is that unattractive color.  Look at how well the texture covers the item -- there isn't any warping of the pattern.  i think it's a very good rendition of a real-world bag chair, although admittedly I'm not likely to use it myself.

I think I'd like it better if the Sim actually sunk into it the way humans do on real beanbag chairs....I swear, a couch-potato slouch animation is SO needed. LOL

There's the hidden "veg out" animation... That would be perfect for that chair :D

Some of them, yes. As a general rule, I prefer Grilled Cheese Zombification for any Romance sims who defy the Oversoul by becoming romantic interests of my playables. For sims who have more children than decreed, random death methods are used but any deaths from the sky are preferrable. Drowning and starving takes too long. Weird-ass furniture and elevators are my tool for psychosis-creation.

Yes, and so should Buntah. She's got TWO categories cornered, the ugly clothing and the ugly object.

Okay, so all I've managed to do is find more stuff I NEED!!!!  This is not working!

FeeEssen does have some good ideas, they are just ugly as sin and the wrong color choice. The baby bed in the tree would be fine if it's mesh was rounder, mostly in the bottom and the way it's hung was a little more clever. It would be great for elf or fairy type sims if it maybe had a vine style chain to hang from and a wood texture for the bed part or maybe as a woven basket. As is, it looks entirely too bulky and square, appears as if she were going for a "modern" look(then failed at it) and it stands out entirely too much from its surroundings.

The twin toddler bed is a good idea, but looks nothing like a bed. It is bulkier then it had to be. If someone gave it an interesting recolor then it could be passed off as some kind of bizarre alien furniture, but it would still be ugly.
If only she could somehow pass her ideas over to someone with some skill then we would actually have some good objects. It makes me wish that I had more patience to learn meshing. I can only imagine the horror that is her game. You can see her taste in the background of the pics and apparently her houses all have the same ugly style.

If my say counts for anything, I vote bootsbriskets items are left out of the running. As the meshes are really quite nicely done and they are supposed to be strange.

Again, in defense of Fee Essen, I think her little devil "social" doll is adorable, and if the baby mobile (with music) wasn't so high-poly, it would be cute, too.

But otherwise, yep, she seems to have a Toys"R"Us palette in mind. When it is for kid's toys, I don't mind, but furniture? Not so keen.

I've been impressed with Katy's work. It isn't as realistic as I prefer, but it has never broken my game, nor conflicted with other items. Her beehive looks interesting, and I look forward to trying it out. (Her "pets' social doll," however, is frightening.)

If you want true fug, look at any of Simslice's attempts at home furnishings or clothing. During Sims 1, I revered him as a master haxxor, but now? How the mighty have fallen...plus, the site's now pay. Ugh. All of his generators / rejuvenors / debilatators, based on showers, are horrific. Not sure they count, as they aren't standard furniture (and then we'd maybe have to poke Pes about what his Macrotastics / Lot Debug / etcetera boxes look like, which isn't the POINT).

Around The Sims has an entire blocky set meant to look like abobe-stucco architecture and furniture in red, orange, puke yellow, bright blue, etc., which are disappointing compared to her other work.

Dincer Hepguler's items are often out of proportion, usually far too large, to be used with other items. Also? High poly.

Holy Simoly is usually tasteful and well-made, but they lost me with the fridge recolour with flames. Not even a biker, metalhead or rockabilly wants a fridge with giant painted flames on it. Or...do they?

Three sites with generally attractive furniture that have huge poly counts: Reflex Sims, VitaSims, Wall Sims. All are pay, totally or in part.

Had an email from Killersims yahoo group out of the blue the other day, apparently still alive and kicking - I'd forgotten all about them. They were big at the beginning of sims 1.

I'd nominate SimSlice's cycle ot life stuff, but it don't think it quailfies as furniture.  I feel for anyone who spent their good money on the blinking crap. (there's no animation in it, the 'animals' just blink from one part of the screen to the other).  I was rather angry when I saw how it worked.  Bah.  Point and laugh if you want...  :-\

Add me to the list of people who thought Simslice was awesome back in the day of Sims1 (though he had nothing on the awesomeness that was Gnohoman or whoever it was that did such AWESOME hacks for livin-it-up.net--- I used Gno's hacks all the freakin' time in TS1 days.)

Simslice's hacked objects like the Beer Keg and Party Treats are amusing at first... if you like Sims doing crazy-ass unpredictable shit. But if you're trying to accomplish something in particular, they're a BAD idea.

The one thing of Simslice's that I do really like for TS2 is the Venus Simtrap -- it's much better than the game's own cowplant because it never does anything unless you tell it to, so you won't have any accidental deaths if you're not paying attention (and you don't need to fence it in).

The other thing of his that I kinda like for the sake of a giggle once in a while is the electric urinal -- the sims' reactions to it are quite amusing, especially when you get one (like my legacy sim Michael Blessing) who will bypass the toilets and toilet stalls to use it. I swear that sim was obsessed with that urinal! WTF?

Other than that? Bleh. I have the "Tree of Life" which I will drop onto a lot if I don't want to mess with the whole cheat window thing that stops the aging clock (used it on my Bachelorette Lot so that my sim didn't lose any days off her Adult life) but I rarely use it. And the alien-telescope that guarantee's abduction is kinda pointless now that TwoJeffs increased the chances of abduction. The edible fruit trees and plants are annoying because sims still want to cook and the trees leave messes all over the place and end up being a straight-up pain (and they trash your environment scores, too!) Pretty much anything else I've ditched as pointless, redundant or unusable. Many of his hacked objects accomplish what you could easily accomplish with a few simple cheats.

Most of Simslice's gimmicks consist of either thinly-veiled cheating, or useless gimmicks.

I think that MST2 creations should be not entered in this competition. I myself found a lot of meshes that should be erased from the face of earth but being MTS2 a place where people post their first creations, it is a bit like shooting on the redcross. or similar. Really, too easy.

I have a room where I bolted all the furniture to the ceiling, so when people enter the room, they get weirded out by all the furniture attached to the ceiling instead of the floor. Icing on the cake is the fact that the cat likes that room, too, so when people enter it, they see a cat lounging on a couch that is on the ceiling.

When I first looked at the screenshot, I thought the bookcase had been taped to the wall with clear packing tape. And that it was trying to wiggle free.

Would you be willing to share if I batted my eyes at you and asked very prettily? I get so annoyed when the toddlers play in the toilets and then have a hissy fit because they stink. Most kids I know would happily go for days or weeks without bathing.  :P

For those who are asking for the modified FeeEssen Toddler Tub:

I would be happy to share the 'fixed' version of her tub. But I have searched both MTS2 and her original site (which is in German and doesn't work quite right when translated into Engish) and cannot find any info about her policies concerning her objects.

So if someone could direct me to a page where she has her policy posted, and the policy allows for others to modify her objects, I will gladly post it here in Peasantry. So far I have only seen her post "You can recoloriet". In the meantime, keep your eyes out for recolors of this tub. It screams for a recolor and I can't find one anywhere.

I'd like to nominate this absurd bathtub by someone who calls himself Alb@n (I have no idea which site I got this from.)  It is ridiculously huge and cuts through walls if you place it next to one and the sims disappear when the get into it because it is so enormous.  It looks more like a tomb to me.

Wow it really does. The faucet should be removed. You then get a mod to turn bathwater red. Take many pictures of the sacrifice.

I'm willing to bet that, when a Sim washes his or her hands, they end up intersecting the sink's rim.

I think the sculpture come from glamour (the one near the bookcase).

The slides aside from the tye-dye and the camo actually look okay.

I haven't tried the sink, but I am sure it probably does do that.  The sim steps right through the tub to turn the faucet on, and it is not even the faucet that you see along the side of the tub.


Hehe.  The tiki mask was my addition.  I thought it fit in with the 'tomb tub' quite well.



If I were even mildly awesome I might be able to accomplish that.  Seeing that I am not, I would welcome anyone else to try.  I would like a sacrificial tub like that.

The bed curtains, I believe, are from meskiste and are actually quite nice.  The rest of the bed is fugaliscious.  Once again the picture quality is atrocious, but I am not willing to try it to see how it looks in game.  Having the tomb tub clogging up my folder is quite enough.

Few things scream "Photoshop N00b" as loudly as Lens Flare Abuse, so I have to agree with your opinion on that one.

I make a point of not downloading anything that has a crappy, too small to see, obviously photoshopped, or taken outside the game picture. Unless of course the item has been verified by someone else as being worth downloading, or it's from one or two websites that tend to have well-made stuff despite the deceptive tactics used in the presentation.

I figure if someone sucks to the degree that they can't take a decent screenshot and upload it on the web, their ability to do proper texturing work in a complex program like Photoshop or mesh work in a 3D program and SimPE is really questionable.


ETA: Screenshots with mirrored floors suck and are a sure sign of teh n00b. Why creators insist on abusing them, I don't know.

There's a simpler explanation than time paradox... the whole mesh has been created as a single group and tagged as alpha which means that the polys are not distance sorted w.r.t. each other when rendered in game. End result is that bits of the shape can and will be drawn in the wrong order and this will change dynamically with the camera viewing position. The creator should have created the mesh with 2 groups, one for the curtains tagged as alpha and the rest of the bed (base, covers, frame) in the other group which would only need on/off transparency at most.

I believe the right term for the bed by rose is vomitous.

It's a hacked object, and I haven't put it in my game so I can't judge how well it does what it claims to do, but I can still wonder whether that camera is being held backwards or not, why it's all one color (though it comes with recolors that look more like a real camera) why it's too big for sims, why sim hands clip through it, and where the 4000 polys in it went.

The creators are so naive.  They think that they are the best.  It's hilariously sad.

Katy from PCsims is really more of a hacker than a mesher, so all of her meshes are kinda suck, because coders tend to have little to no Skills of an Artist.

Honestly Camera Mesh sucks but It really performs well. I have used it since it came out.

The thing I don't get about these objects (well, one of the many things I don't get) is how they're supposed to be fun. Putting my toddler in a car or helicopter so they can just sit isn't fun to me, but maybe I just lack imagination.I'm fascinated by this picture, though, because it gives us a glimpse into what a FeeEssen lot would look like -- the malformed mailbox replacement, the wall tile that doesn't repeat correctly and the box-shaped house.

This one isn't the worst mesh, but according to the title the pattern is supposed to be "floral" not "skin disease".

The fun part about FeeEssen's stuff is finding out what it actually does since she can never explain it well in English. I downloaded the bumper car while back because I was trying to find a way for toddlers to join in the carnival rides that I downloaded from MTS2. The toddler gets into the car by itself and rides around the lot. It acts just like a bumper car, moving in random directions when it runs into furniture or walls. The toddler's fun actually improves too. And it looked really cool when I had a large, empty room with quad toddlers all playing bumper cars in it. The only drawback that I can see (other than the bulky meshes) is that it doesn't give any skills, but then what skill can a toddler learn from riding in a bumper car anyway? Best of all, I didn't have to go and unstick any tangled bumper cars like you have to in real life.

I haven't checked out the helicopter though. I also tried out her toddler tent, rideable toy horse on a spring (like in a park), and a few other items, and they were never used by the toddlers, so I don't know what they are supposed to do. Other items like the baby swing, the toddler just sits in like you said. The sandbox is really cool though. It's probably one of the most realistic, usable items that she has made. IIRC, toddlers gain logic skill with it.

Does it matter if it flies? Even if it does, it's still an ugly piece of crap.  It'd just be a flying piece of crap, instead of a stationary one.

Yeah, I'd say flying would redeem it. Not enough to make me download it but at least I would understand why other people would. Besides it's not the ugliest mesh she has. It actually looks like a helicopter, and not one shaped by a 5 year old in playdoh.

I don't have any toddlers at the moment, but I am curious to find out. As far as the screenshot, she had a tub where the toddlers bathe themselves. But the screenshot showed mom bathing the toddler instead. So who knows what goes on in her mind when deciding how to advertise her creations?

The spiky "goth" furniture is probably made with rubber or soft plastic spikes. You can buy bags, boxes and cigarette lighters covered in the stuff. There's a particular polymer that you mix up as monomer with the dye, then shape it while it sets. Can't remember what it's called, though (brain fried from the huge pile of marking in front of me).

The car with teeth(?) will give me nightmares.

I guess if someone was doing a LOTR themed neighbourhood they'd be useful as neighbourhood decorations.  I have seen LOTR terrains somewhere.  I agree with your assessment of them, they do look kinda ugly, and the edges are too crisp.  They don't look as weather-beaten as ancient statues should.

Actually, they remind me more of NeverEnding Story. I remember the first time I watched LOTR, I was pissed that they'd ripped them off. However, they are decidedly uncool as I see no mention of blinding rays of death.

Anyone who has ever read The Call of Cthulhu knows that Cthulhu didn't arrive in a clunky, loud, light blue spaceship.  And it has glowing...eyes?  What kind of stealthy alien has lights on the ship's outside?  They CAN'T function as headlights, as they're too high.

It eats toddler poop.  Parents have to manually stomach pump the duck to get the contents out.    It looks like it's eating a toddler when the toddler is sitting on it.

NeverEnding Story probably ripped them from Tolkien.  (And I have no idea where he ripped them from).

I hadn't read Tolkien before I saw NeverEnding Story. I saw NeverEnding Story when I was around six. I tried The Hobbit the first time around seven/eight. Actually, technically, I haven't read through any Tolkien at all. Not that he's bad or anything, he's just very descriptive and I prefer more of a balance between dialog and description in my entertainment reads. One of these days I'll buckle down and try again, because they are pivotal works in the genre.

Zazazu, you should definitely get to reading them. They are really long, and take forever to read [I'm a fast reader, and it still took me a month to get through the series, excluding the Hobbit],  but they're some of the best books I've ever laid eyes on. If you've seen the movies, then when you read Return of the King you'll prolly get a little pissed at the movies. At least, I did. The director left out the end of the book, although it was probably from time constraints. I doubt that most major fans would have minded a longer movie anyway...  ;D *points to self*

I was more upset with the unneeded and idiotic changes of TTT.

The Two Towers? Actually, I sped through that one so fast I hardly remember it. I do remember that they messed up with Pippin and Merry meeting the Ent... What was his name again? Treebeard? He was awesome. I also remember that they totally left out the part where they both got taller because of the Ents' and the forest's water.

In increasing order of stupidity:
The Ents deciding NOT to interfere
Unnecessary Aragorn fake-death to allow for an Arwen "dream" sequence
Telepathy between Elrond and Galadriel
Faramir claiming the Ring and taking Frodo and Sam to Osgiliath :o

Well, the Ents DID help. They went to Sarumon's place. It was all flooded? And then Pippin picked up the orb.
That stupid death is always annoying. Maybe because I don't really like Arwen... Aragorn should definitely have fallen in love with someone cooler. Not Eowyn though, she was a bit whiny.
The telepathy thing, I don't remember. Err, wait, it's coming back... Nope I lost it.
Faramir is just... Faramir. I know what you're talking about, and now that I think back on it, yeah, that was kinda stupid. But at least they hid it well. I didn't even notice it before. But Faramir is teh cool. I really liked how they had his dad freak out and try to burn him. I thought they did well with that.
I was also kind of surprised with the whole Pippin thing. I seem to remember his servitude going about differently...
Eh. I need to reread the books.

No, the Ents initially refused to help in the film, and had to be tricked into doing anything. So they went from wise to stupid. In the book the entire point of the Entmoot is that the Ents, who have resigned themselves to staying in Fangorn Forest and essentially die out, decide to help the world one last time because it is the right thing to do. In the film, they decide to ignore the plight of the Free Peoples, and it takes Hobbit trickery to get them to fight for their own forest. PJ would have us believe that Fangorn is unaware of the mass destruction of the forest he has cared for for millennia, and has grown? In the book, Fangorn was fully aware Saruman was cutting down trees, but it took the Hobbits to come along and show them that they did not know everything yet, and that the world still held unseen marvels and thus was worth fighting for.

Arwen: why, why, why. I know PJ has a thing for hawt elf boobies, but it is extremely unnecessary. Arwen is background character for a reason: she is the silent motivation behind Aragorn's quest. It is not the kingship he fights for, it is not the chance to kicks some Maia butt, it is the love of a woman. To turn her into a warrior is to make her a weak dilution of Éowyn, lessening both characters.

Telepathy: Bah. Ties into the entire dumbing down thing and unnecessary additions. Don't even get me started on the moronic "Arwen is dying boohoo" theme introduced by PJ.

As for Faramir: PJ completely missed the point that Faramir has the power to reject the Ring without the need for an external stimulus. As such he is a perfect counterweight for his brother: Boromir looks at the Ring and sees the power in it, and believes he can use it to make Gondor greater. Faramir looks at it, and sees exactly what he is fighting against.
PJ's Faramir (Filmamir) is stupid enough to realize what he has, and then take the Ring to a heavily besieged area, taking it straight to the hands of his enemy!
When Sam says , "We're not supposed to be here, Mr. Frodo," during the raid on Osgiliath, my reaction is "Hell yeah!".
Of all the changes and removals from the movie, the destruction of Faramir bothers me the most.
PJ has turned him from a Man unfallen to just another crybaby who desperately wants his daddy to love him.

That stupid dying Arwen thing was so lame! Every time I watch the movie I'm always like, "WTF THAT MAKES NO SENSE STFU AND GET A LIFE!"
And that other elven guy, I forget his name too because I'm terrible with names, he has the long "blonde" hair (it's so obviously fake, like Orlando Bloom's) and kind of a squarish face? I keep thinking he was either a lot more important or a lot less important, and it's annoying.
Faramir. *sighs* Since I was in 7th grade when I read the books, I didn't realize that he was able to say no to the ring. I got that Boromir was pretty much overcome by its power; it just didn't dawn on me that Faramir could withstand it. I was so upset about the part where his dad sends him off to fight the Orcs because he looked like a puppy. He's not supposed to be such a little kid! I have to admit, though, I laughed so hard to see his dad fall off that great cliff. I always make little crashing sounds for him. :D
I was -and still am- pleasantly surprised by the fact that Faramir and Boromir actually look related in the movies. That hardly ever happens in movies.

Whenever I complain about it, (id est: whenever the subject comes up) the person I'm talking to invariably reminds me that the movie's already longer than the average Joe's attention span.

Well, Lord of the Rings is not for any average Joes. Besides, no one said they absolutely, positively must watch it, right?

I am willing to sacrifice any amount of time to see a good movie, whether it's fifteen minutes or four or five hours. They shouldn't make films unless they're going to make it right! And if they want to split it up [like Kill Bill], then so be it!

Well, since you have a pic of Harry's bum as your avatar, I'm assuming you've both seen the HP movies and read the books. Those movies do the same thing with me. Piss me off, but I still love them. They change so many things. Some of them are due to time constraints, but some are just silly....like the source of the gillyweed. Showing the true source would have kept more continuity between the movies. But no.

I picked up Fellowship a couple years ago...I was 22, I think. Got to page 30, couldn't take it. I'll try again in a year or so. Beautifully described world, I just get antsy.

Maybe try a book-on-tape version?

Seriously, there are so many things wrong with that flick that you might want to have a few strong drinks before you watch it.

In short:
* Gandalf the Grey wears blue. Saruman (Aruman?) the White... wears Red?
* Gandalf recites the Ring's inscription in the Black tongue.... which in the book he adamantly refuses to do.
* The first Nazgul (black rider) to appear looks and behaves like a zombie... and gimps around like a freak.
* Gimli is almost as tall as Legolas and Aragorn! WTF?
* Shadowfax has a bridle. In an animated movie. WTF? Shadowfax wouldn't tolerate a bridle!

Jackson might have done a few dumb things (*cough*ARWEN*cough*) but compared to Bakshi (who did it ANIMATED, not live action, so there's no excuse for it to suck visually as much as it did) he comes off looking pretty good.

Jackson probably made the best movie adaption we'll ever get, but it's hardly perfect. As a card-carrying fanboy I am allowed to whine about it :p

Wow, that other version DOES sound totally screwed up. I agree with Jordi; Jackson prolly did make the best movie adaption, but it's still riddled with screwups. They're still awesome movies though, and I can whine because I love it. :D

The worst thing about that Bakshi piece of crap is how mind numbingly boring it is, and how completely spoiled it is by his bizarre obsession with rotoscoping ( "You know what, we don't need to animate these battle scenes, let's just take the same section of film, tint it red, and then use it over, and over, and over again").
Of course, I can't abide anything LOTR related (perhaps because I saw this movie and other Bakshi type garbage when I was young), and so am seriously biased.

It's hard to say what is worse: Bakshi's LOTR part one, or the Ranklin-Bass abominations "The Hobbit" and "The Return of the King".

Ugh, I forgot about those ones. If it's a battle between those three films we're all losers in the end.

"The Return of the King" animated movie gave us the Oricish hit song, "Where There's a Whip, There's A Way."  What's not to love about that?  ::)
