First, thanks for all the wonderful hacks you create!!

I really miss being able to set the number of rings on the phone, and the ability for my Sims to talk and restore their relationships to 100 before hanging up.  The unnecessary calls, the phone ringing back to back to back, as soon as my Sim hangs up, it's ringing again!....is driving me insane!  HELP!

Any clues on when this hack will be ready for NL?  Thanks!  ---green

It is currently in testing and may be ready soon. You may also wish to volunteer to test specific aspects on the chat, if you're so desperate.

I would be more than happy to help do testing if you need people.

Just PM me with a dl link and what functions you want heavily tested. That hack is the only one I am really waiting on, the others are just nice additions. Phonehack is required to have relationships at all.

I will, I will,  I have removed almost all of my phonesfrom the game,  the phone ringing is driving me batty too.

 I even hate my own phone at home.   I have an unlisted number and the rest of the time I let the machine pick it up.    ;D

Ah yes--I have a popularity sim working on her 30 best friends want, so it won't be long before the phone starts driving me insane.  It's marginal now but it sure makes me realize how badly I miss being able to turn off the ringer!

And here I thought I was the only one who got put out at their own phone! LOL  This evening was another one of those 'it never fails' nights.  We can go for a week without the phone ringing more than once a day, then as sure as the family decides to sit down and watch a movie or play a game, the phone will ring at least three times and someone will invariably show up at the door.

I've got Sims with over 40 best friends and the phone doesn't ring off the wall. 

Here's how I maintain friendships:  Have a party, invite 8 Sims who have around 80 daily relationship.  Do a single Admire/Bust a Move/Gossip with each party guest to get the relationship up to 100 daily.  This usually gets a Roof Raiser party, and everyone has their relationship maxed.  And only has to be done every 10 days with each group of 8 guests.  These people won't call any more to ask "Why haven't I heard from you?" except very seldom:  I get a call from someone who just left a party.  Weird.

Well, obviously they were calling back to see if you could find their hat/glasses/phone/coat/panties/etc they left behind in some incriminating location, and also ask for the recipe for that wonderful Baked Alaska you served.  ;)

The worst thing is getting a call from someone who says "Hey, I haven't heard from you etc, etc....when you just spent the best part of the previous hour talking to them on the bloody phone!!!!!!

... Or when they just left from having a dream date.  That guy was *obviously* looking for his undies! :D

He can get his undies back when he comes to leave flowers.  Or when he brings something nice.

I've had dream dates bring big screen TVs, DJ booths, a piano and the §5,800 vertical fountain (which I promptly sold, this being in a tiny college house).  Dating for fun and profit! :D

My dates keep rolling up wants to woohoo in the car, even if they're at home.  I figure eventually they'll woohoo the wheels right off the thing.  I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. :)

Well, I actually had a couple who woohooed so much they 'broke' their bed.

Actually, in reality, when I chose the option to relax, it wouldn't work until I deleted their old bed and bought a new one........so I thought "you horny buggers, I'll have to buy you a new bed" and ......all was good when I did  ;D

I'm not surprised. :)  I once had a test couple to see if woohoo would build body skill.  Unfortunately, it does not.  Unlike real life, where woohoo is definitely an aerobic exercise!  But I've never had a broken bed.

I almost don't have calls - just after I finish to play a family, I open the SimPe, and raise their relationships with their friends to 100/100 (best friends only). I have only one call a day, or inviting to outing...:).

YAY! I had been watching, new file today!

I will play with it tonight and try all the phone uses.

Dizzy's lateral calls mod also seems to stop the "Why haven't you called?" calls.  Since I installed it, I haven't had a single one.

I've installed the new updated phonehack.  So far so good EXCEPT, setting the number of rings doesn't seem to work.  It still keeps ringing and ringing beyond whatever number you set it for. 

I've tested it as well. Sometimes the sim that calls you will suddenly be summoned in front of the door. lol Otherwise, it seems to work great!  ;D

I've also started testing this phone hack, and so far-so good....except, like Pearl said, setting the ringer does not work.  (I'm playing in Uni right now)  I tried deleting all the phones in the dorm, and re-buying them, and then setting the ringer, and that still did not work.

At one point, when my Sim went to sleep, the phone rang constantly for like 7 hours straight on high speed!  

She was able to call the Taxi and invite friends over just fine.  She talks to others on the phone until she's ready to hang up, meaning that she spoke past the time the Daily hit 100.

um well er, it seems to need a little more work.  I had the same thing happen when I used it, I set it on 5 but it just kept on ringing off the hook, but that is not the weird part, all three of my sims were talking to different people on their cellphones and then they hung up and I had them eat and go to bed.  Next thing I know, two of them are out of bed, so I am outside looking for tombstones, thinking that a ghost woke them up but I couldn't find any tombstones, so I go back into the house and there are two of the people that they were talking to, one was walking up the steps and one was upstairs already playing pinball.  I guess the all-in-one NPC let them in because I have her turned on to greet all doorbell ringing sims.   But the other options work, call a date, call repair, manage groups etc, so you are getting close.    I am so happy.  I will be willing to test any further updates for you.   thank JM, you rock.

Yard work is done, house is kind of clean, laundry is going, house to myself, bottle of wine. Will put a few hours of testing in tonight.

As mentioned above, the ringer limits don't work. However turning off the ringer completely does work, which is how I play anyway.

Also, were the hours that it is OK to call changed with NL? I can call until 2AM with no harassment now. If this is a hack addition good one.

It isn't, Nightlife may have changed it, though, but without the Phone Hack, you probably never even attempted it for fear of being screamed at. As the Phone Hack warns you that Phone Harassment Is Bad when you're doing it, you'd have been more likely to try to probe.

I hope the new phonehack doesn't harass the vamps to call them after midnight because they actually like being called then and for them harassment is calling them during the day and making them drag their undead asses out of bed and get toasted in the process. They get rather upset if you call them during the day.

When the phone rings beyond the limit that you set, could it possibly be someone calling to invite your Sim on an outing/date? I can't say for sure because I am using autoyak to try and keep up with all the "Call to Chat" wants (Worst. Wants. EVER!) but every time someone invites my Sims out for a follow-up outing, the phone will ring for hours upon hours until the call is answered. Maybe those types of phone calls aren't being caught and are allowed to continue incessantly? Anyway, just a thought.

No it can't be just offer to go downtown. To test earlier I ran a house without going out for about a week earliier and it rang off the hook with all the people calling me all day every day.

Speaking of Autoyak....I don't know if this was mentioned elsewhere, but Sims don't continue to chat past the social bar filling on the 'Call a Sim' option. I think the 'Call Friends' option is working, but I don't use that as much.

The AutoYak and Phone Hack are seperate and unrelated, and do not require each other. AutoYak adds a phone call option with its own stoplogics, the Phone Hack laters the stop logics of existing call options.

About calling in the middle of the night, I also was able to call around 1 am with no problem.  I tried it later, at about 4 am, and what happens now is that the "phone harrassment is bad" message doesn't pop up until after you've chosen who you want to call.  So if it's a vampire, you don't get the phone harrassment message; if it's a normal Sim, you do.  So this aspect is working perfectly.  I wonder too though, if Nightlife has changed the cutoff calling time to 2 am (makes sense, being NIGHTLIFE and all.)

Yes NL did extend the calling times which seems plenty fair since preNL sims were calling you at late hours - well past the cut off time you could call them. And since the game is called Nightlife, it stands to reason.

I am having the darndest time dl anything from here or even viewing threads at the moment...I think its time for a new proxy. *sigh*

You're thinking of the phonehack, not autosoc.  Autosoc doesn't have anything to do with phone interactions, it's the one that lets you do Macro...Socialize...Friendly/Unfriendly/Romantic.  (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong....)

I really miss the phonehack too, can't wait until it's finished testing

Ah glad to see the phone hack is in testing.  I might give it a go before it is finished if I'm feeling experimental later.

Ah, well, it's a good thing they upped the time you can call someone because your visitors go home so dang early now! I got used to it using the hack that made them stay later so it's even worse - 6:00 PM for kids and 9-something for adults? Makes no sense.

Well that's good. Now, if you try to call a vampire during the day does it pop up the 'Harassment is bad, Mmkay?' message warning you first now? I've accidentally forgotten and called a few vamps during day hours and it's annoying if you aren't intending to harass them.

Yeah, I did that once already. Was intending to phone another sim but was going to phone the vampire later and was thinking about that so I clicked on the wrong thing, gah. So easy to mess up.

At Uni in a house with no hard line phone, only 3 cells, several times sims stopped chatting before relationship scores were maxxed. This did not happen in the houses outside of uni at all and I didn't see it happen again after putting a hard line in the house.

No prehack uni play to compare though.

And pesc, I know bugs are why it isn't out yet, thats why I am reporting them, not griping :p.

Hi JM I am using the phone hack and have noticed these problems

1.  Ringer can not be set but u can turn it off.

2.  The person whom rang gets telported to the lot.

There's apparently a problem even without the phone hack on lots that were never played when the phone hack was installed with Sims on the phone being teleported to the lot.  I saw it once myself, although the Sim immediately disappeared.  I think the base problem is in the game, not in the phone hack.  I hope Pescado can fix it.

I used to get this a lot in the base game, of course it wasnt the only problem I was having and I could tell from other events that I had a corrupted install. So I reinstalled a couple of times until I got a good one. (which I still have  - weee)

I once had a lot where two people on my lot were talking to the same person on the phone (I think this was before Uni) and I saved the game while they were talking.  When I re-entered the lot later, they were still on the phone but the person they were talking to was standing on the lot.  I think one of my Sims could interact with the Sim on the phone but the othe couldn't.  This used to be a cause of having someone disappear from your phone book;  the game thought they were still on your lot.

The problem I mentioned above happened since I installed Nightlife.  I haven't had the phone hack in my game in a very long time.

Right. This is actually a pretty old bug and I remember seeing it happen long before the phone hack, this was even before uni. I haven't had it happen for a long time though so I don't know if the phone hack fixed this from happening pre-NL or uni fixed it or what, but I've definitely had it happen before without the phone hack.

I don't have anybody coming over now when I talk to them on the phone but of course I am calling them because I have the ringer set to off.   thank heaven, I can finally install phones in my house again  but what I really miss it the taxi hack part of it.

 Now when you go downtown in your car, you have to take all of the sims or only one.   or if you want to take another member of your family you have to ask them to go on an outing with you. 

  I hope JM can make it where that when you get into the car you can choose who to take  with you.    that would be way cool.    8)

Don't know if this helps track down the problem or not:

I noticed in NL (before any hacks / custom content was installed) that when someone phoned for a group outing to my sim living in Uni or at a downtown lot, the phoner was teleported to my lot and left with my sim in the car.  Don't recall it happening in the home neighborhood. 

Not positive, but I think the person calling was not living in the same neighborhood as my sim. Maybe the sim is teleported if they live in another neighborhood?

I believe you can take your choice if you just send them all to sit in the car and then have the driver leave.

This one happens to be in testing right now, the "Car Hack" of all things Car-Related, just like the Phone Hack for phones.

I downloaded a few days ago the last "in test" version of the phonehack, and so far it works perfect, receiveing the dialog who is going to drive to the community lots/downtown.

I think it belongs to carpool fix: when a sim drives with the car to the community - sometimes (if he is an elder or teen) he can't enter the car to drive back home, and I have to call a taxi; only after that I saw him driving the car back home - but only when I arrive home.

Thank you, JM, for working on getting this updated for us.  I will be so grateful/relieved to have this hack back again in my game!  :)

I've gotten the "don't call me so late" messages at normal times still (not using the phone hack yet). I think it varies according to the sim now (vampires and people working night schedules and whatnot don't seem to mind). They never mind if you're asking them on a date (although they can be at work) and will stay as long as the scores are good for dates/outings or anything timed, so you can have them hang around way late if you do it that way.

Speaking of harassing vampires, invite one that you have a good relationship with to a daytime party. They'll truck allllll the way over to your house to tell you they can't attend a party during the day, it's killing them and then walk back home. Don't ask me why they couldn't have thought of that when they took the phone call ;)

Weird sense of humor, but I actually found this rather funny.

And speaking of auto action, why in the world do the windows steam up when they make out???  I can understand during a woohoo, but I for one would like the voyeristic pleasure of seeing them make out in the car.. and not get hung up on the gear shift.

The phone is driving me crazy too.  I'm thinking of ripping every phone out by its roots until the NL compatible hack is ready.
