Title: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: PattyB on 2007 March 04, 17:38:52 I've had 2 sims get hit and neither of them got a memory of it. Neither had a want or fear of it at the time either.
Just wondering if this is a glitch or by design. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: WatersMoon on 2007 March 04, 18:28:17 I wondered that as well. Do Sims get a memory of it if they do have a want/fear of it, I wonder?
Really, if a Sim is struck by lightening, they should get a memory of it. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Sagana on 2007 March 04, 18:29:36 They get a memory of seeing snow but none for getting hit by lightning? That's pretty sad.
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: lindaetterlee on 2007 March 04, 18:34:56 My sims haven't been getting the memory that children were being taken by Social Services. Nor are they blocked from readopting.

Post by: WatersMoon on 2007 March 04, 19:10:11 Even more bizarre, Mr Greenman wants to experience the joy of being fried alive by Zeus' wrath. I noticed that. Knowledge Sims seem to occasionally spawn this want. I believe Pleasure Sims get this as a fear.Maybe other types of Sims don't notice being struck by lightning? It's only a current of 30-to-50 kiloamperes (thank you internet, for teaching me what I did not know so I could look smarter in a random forum) racing through their bodies. A memory for this would be greatly appreciated. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Hitch on 2007 March 04, 20:43:50 I have no problem at all imagining that a Sim wouldn't remember getting struck by lightning. They also might not remember their name or where they live, afterwards. ;)
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: gali on 2007 March 04, 21:01:28 They do remember. Here is a memory of Don Lothario, in the SimPe:
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/gotshoked.jpg) Edit: Still, I am not sure if it's a memory of an electrocution, or a lightning. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: vilia on 2007 March 04, 21:17:11 Eh? I though SimPe wasn't compatible with Seasons ???
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: gali on 2007 March 04, 21:21:45 Eh? I though SimPe wasn't compatible with Seasons ??? I don't have Seasons, only OFB. No Pets too. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: buddha pest on 2007 March 04, 21:29:04 OT-ish, but when a sim is struck by lightening, are they supposed to keep catching fire over and over and take FOREVER to completely extinguish? Or is something wrong if that happens?
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: FlyOnTheWall on 2007 March 04, 21:33:03 How can Don have gotten struck by lightning if you don't even have Seasons? ???
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Soylent Sim on 2007 March 04, 21:56:35 Getting struck by lightning was possible with the evil kite in OFB. I haven't done that in ages, so I don't remember how that ties in with memories, or indeed how it would tie in with the more general "get struck by lightning" want now. Getting shocked by an appliance did cause memories, but this was back in the base game when they were a lot more liberal with what did and didn't give memories.
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: diamonde on 2007 March 04, 23:22:23 I have a knowledge sim who's managed to fill the struck by lightning want twice, much to my disgust. (Once in the hot tub and once in a puddle, both autonomous actions. Cheeky bugger.) He doesn't have a visible memory of either time, although I suppose he might have some invisible ones. He does keep wanting to get hit again and his wife developed the fear of being struck by lightning after having to plead for his life the first time, but that could be coincidence.

Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Emma on 2007 March 05, 00:39:33 The memory Don has is of being electrocuted I am sure. I have had sims get electrocuted by the trash compactor before and I am positive it shows the lightning bolt as the memory icon.
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Tamha on 2007 March 05, 09:39:08 Almost makes me wonder if Maxis used the basic electrocution memory for lightning strikes, but since Knowledge sims want to experience the latter but not the former, I'd think they'd have made a new "positive" memory for lightning.

I don't know, I had one of my knowledge sims struck after the want came up and now he won't stop crying about it. Edit- Upon further inspection, he's crying because he peed himself after being struck. ::) Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: Morague on 2007 March 06, 19:59:43 My Romance sim got struck & no memory & he had a fear of it at the time so he lost 3500 points. lOL - not tha it makes any difference cause he has so many anyway. But, there is no memory of it. All that happened to him is he got the scorched skin & hair, depleted needs.
I guess I have to move my easels indoors. I was looking around but didn;t fnd any solution - is there a way to make enclosed decks? or at least with a roof over them? I alwasy use the back decks for painting & chess but ..... I've never needed a roof before :) Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: MsMaria on 2007 March 06, 20:04:26 Just put some columns on the deck and that will support a flat roof or a regular one.
Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: gynarchy on 2007 March 06, 20:10:21 There's a lightning rod in the Decorative - Miscellaneous category that you can stick on the roof (or wherever you want) that supposedly attracts strikes to it. It's called the EZ120v Lighting Finial I think.

Well, it did kill him the first time. Title: Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? Post by: siriusthinking on 2007 March 07, 11:42:19 What happens when they do? Is it good for them? It's just like getting electrocuted. |
