Can it be done? It's very annoying when every sim loses control when a Romance Sim is around.

And can it be transferred to only be done during other expressions of attraction... ie the Scope Room action... or just any other focus on a sim's attractiveness? Without breaking anything of course, unless you want to.

I requested this a while ago...  no bites, though...  just the suggestion that I wait until after NL was released...  and as much as I'd like to see it done, nothing will be done until the existing hacks are upgraded for NL, I imagine...

Yup, especially since His Awesomeness has yet to actually get Nightlife.

I have noticed with NL that all Sims still swoon after Romance Sims, even though they have no flashes next to them and even when they have crossed out ones.  This is downright silly and should have been altered.  They even swoon after them immediately after having a massive row with them, or when they're -100/-100 and furious.  Very, very silly.

Hmm... maybe with another thread popping up about this it might be considered.  Maybe one of those "Here it is, now shut up and leave me alone" that we get every so often like the toilet hack.   ;)  Since attraction is now based on so much more it should be more "logical".  Hey, LOGIC isn't that enough of an appeal, mr. Old With A Long Beard?

Sims always swooned over romance sims, this is just a different kind of swooning.
Personally, I never get tired of watching sims go ga-ga when a romance sim walks in the room. It's like comic-relief.  :D

I usually play knowledge or family sims - neither should be interested, yet they all go weak-kneed when a romance sim enters the room...  now that we've got a whole new attraction system, it would be nice to kill it completely.  My first thought was that it was backwards - should be the romance sim doing the swooning, and I think I'd still like that to be the case - romance sims go all gooey when someone that fits their turn-ons walks past?  sounds a much better idea to me!

I'll go with the rest and throw my support in for this. I think it's incredibly stupid for a sim to swoon over someone who just a minute ago they told me that the thought of them makes them want to vomit. Given the whole attraction system now it just really doesn't make much sense.

What peeves me about romance sims is the cocky strut they have just before sucking face. The face fanning is also irritating, come to think of it.

This annoys me as well.  I have one romance sim I intentionally made fat and ugly.  Now, why would every male in the room whistle and react when Charlene the fat, buck-toothed hillbilly walk into the room?  Even the happilly married knowledge and wealth sims who should have other things on their minds than woo hoo with ugly hillbilly women!?   ::) Trust me, if this was true, then I'd be a whole lot more popular.  LOL

I made THAT woman Romance and even my teens were swooning over her!  They won't anymore because I've changed her to Pleasure, although they wouldn't anyway until I can put my teen woo-hoo hack back in.

Yeah, what everybody said.  This is among my pet peeves about the game.  It's banal, obnoxious, annoying, and throws me out of the story every time it happens.

Maybe it would help if someone could deliver a load of grilled cheese sandwiches made from Smart Milk to EA HQ.

Yeah, I have a few dog-ugly Romance sims and am sick of people swooning whenever they see them. I wouldn't mind if fellow Romances continued to swoon, since they are totally undiscerning by definition, but having loved-up Family sims lust after these grots is a little unrealistic for my taste.

I totally agree, I was hoping they'd remove the "everybody swoons over Romance sims" thing with Nightlife seeing as there is now a seperate "attraction" system. but they are still doing it and it makes no sense as there is a "proper" attraction system now.

If they're ugly, why did you make them romance sims? lol, sounds like that's your own doing to me.  :D

Exaggeration is often useful in helping to prove a point.

I myself would like to see this changed, especially when those delightful Maxis-made romance sims walk by (the ones you swear you saw last week on Wild Kingdom?) and my sims swoon and wolf whistle.  If romance sims are more or less, by definition, sluts, then it should be they who go weak kneed and make an embarrassing spectacle of themselves in public.

Simple.  Their not good for breeding so no use in making them an asp that would ever gain points having a kid.  I wouldn't mind a mod where Romance only swoon over other Romance or not swoon at all.

A lot of people have complained over the swooning.  I guess it's pretty unpopular.  For myself, I can take it or leave it.

But it has one good use:  If you don't like playing romance Sims, it's nice to have an indicator that some Sim you are interested in having your Sim marry is a romance Sim.  Just take the swooning to be a red flag to tell you to back away quickly.

Of course, with Nightlife you can use the Senso-Orb to change their aspiration once they're playable, so that's no longer that much of an issue.  Before Nightlife, it was vital.

Note: I've seen non-romance "sims" swooning over romance "sims" on the Internet, but it usually takes a couple of social interations first. :)

With Nightlife you can also pretty much piece together what aspiration a sim is even if you don't control them by asking them what they want, and maybe also what they fear, a few times. And when you go on dates you actually even get to see all their wants.

You also get to see their aspiration, too...

I'm thinking now that there is a decent attraction system in the game, killing it completely wouldn't be a bad idea - although, I could certainly tolerate having it reversed so that it's the romance sims who do the attraction thing - it would make more sense...  Even the I have really bad chemistry with you but still want to woohoo you silly thing...

I don't have NL, yet, so can't really comment on how things are working with the attraction system in place.

Personally, though, I always saw it as sort of like rock stars.  Most of them are butt-ugly with the personality of a toad, but that doesn't stop the swarms of groupies ..

Hey, if you can't get back into platinum aspiration after ending up with a Grilled Cheese Sim, you are in big trouble!  It helps that GC aspiration can make grilled cheese any time of day. :)

Or did you mean to *intentionally* turn the Romance Sims into Grilled Cheese Sims? :D

It's harder to get their aspiration up though the older they are.  I tried it with Mortimer, and it seemed like it took forever to get him high enough to use the machine again to turn him back into his old knowledge self.

For a laugh, obviously. When you're designing a really ugly sim in CAS, making it a Romance adds a whole new layer to the hilarity. Anyway, there are sound psychological reasons why ugly characters should act like sluts (low self-esteem, wanting reassurance that they're not really that bad, etc.) There are no reasons why everyone else should find them attractive.

I like my Romance Sims, they make some of the better parents and are easy to keep Platinum in committed relationships.

I do have a bunch of randy Romance sims in one of my neighbourhoods, but they fill their wants with each other. They serve their purpose and the swooning doesn't bother me unless it's a wonderfully devoted spouse swooning over one while their spouse is about to caress them...

For a few minutes, I thought that the swooning over romance sims was fixed,but I soon found out it wasn't.  I do like the heart thought bubble when they are thinking about a sim that they are attracted to.  I do wish they didn't use the crush/love sound along with it.  It worries me--I go around trying to find the culprut--but it was only a thought and it is usually gone by the time you figure it out.  It's cool because you can see the attraction a husband has for his wife.  Almost makes up for the fact that he will then turn around and whistle at another romance sim.  I think that they should whistle at anyone they are attracted to, or less they are in a commited relationship; in which case, only thier partner.  They should never whistle at someone they are repelled by--romance sim or not.

I'll think about it.

I would really like a reversed affect too! It does make more sense that the Romance sims are the ones swooning over other sims. Also it would be cool if you could make a version that checks wether a sim is in a "commited" relationship or not, for those who would still like their single sims to swoon over romance sims....

Last night my Sim was swooning over her father-in-law as the Reaper was handing him a Mai Tai. It was a little disturbing, especially with her daughter falling to pieces right next to her.

It's creepy when sims swoon over Romance Sim ghosts.

I'm a relatively new player to TS2 and, since I really like my sims, have only had one sim die (from old age) and become a ghost.  (She's a pain since I didn't know not to delete her bed, so she regularly wakes up the household.)

I like to pair up romance sims and turn off jealousy on their lots (easier that way and then they don't mess up the lives of knowledge/wealth/family sims), but I admit I was startled when the sim ghost (she was a romance sim) was seen by her former lover (also a romance sim) and he whistled at her...  Nevermind that she's dead, nevermind that she's an elder as a ghost...  I suppose it's better than him wetting his pants, but it does seem a bit macabre...  on the other hand, the male sim in question successfully finished a "have thirty lovers" lifetime want, so whistling at a ghost probably isn't out of character.

You know, now that they have this whole chemistry thing... is the swooning really necessary?  I mean, I get that the sims of the appropriate preference think the Romance sim is hot, but here we have this nifty little system for actually identifying what a given sim actually thinks is hot.  And yet they still swoon over Major Turn-Off himself, which really doesn't make any sense.

Admittedly, the only real reason I don't like it is because the Attraction action tends to muck up queued actions, but that's mostly tolerable.  Except, well, when you're playing one house with six romance sims (for no good reason) and one of them accidentally gets turned gay and spends the rest of her entire existence swooning about her five housemates...

Maybe I'll introduce her to the all-consuming Importance of Grilled Cheese.

I agree, with the introduction of Chemistry the swooning over Romance sims has lost even the little grain of sense and point it had. It should be made extinct like the dinosaur it is.

This is a deliberate *bump* of this old thread because today the swooning has officially GOT ON MY NERVES.

OK. It's a wedding. Between two people who love each other very much - and are monogamous. They've invited all their friends. (One of the guys is a Popularity sim, so he has a lot of friends). Some of their friends are Romance sims. So what are the happy couple doing? SWOONING OVER THEIR ROMANCE SIM FRIENDS!

AAARRRGHHH!!!

I had bloody Free Will off and everything, but swooning over Romance sims is like sodding "Smells Yummy" - it happens autonomously and there's nothing you can do to stop it. And then as well as the old Sims 2 swooning, Nightlife has added its delightful "Attraction" thought bubbles with hearts and/or Xs floating around. At one point I was almost ripping my hair out because I was trying to set up a shot of the happy couple kissing while their friends cheered them on, and it was almost impossible to take a photo without 101 stupid thought bubbles of one kind or another. And the thought bubbles are broken, and stack - so a single sim can have two bubbles on top of each other, or even three (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=1228.msg52267#msg52267).

Please, please, please. Anyone who is More Awesome Than I. Make a hack to stop this. PLEASE!

I will second that I love my Romance sims but the swooning a a wedding has got to stop who wants wedding photo's like that :o

The swooning really got on my nerves badly yesterday -- one sim broke up with her romance sim husband, and immediately afterward started swooning, even though the relationship was like -50/-50. It looked really stupid.

I have (or had, I'll have to check and see if it survived) a hack that was never released that killed the swooning altogether. I'd like to make it use the new attraction system, but I could release (or quickly redo) the version that completely stops it for the time being. Keep an eye on the New Crap forum.

I knew there was a reason why I liked (both of you) so much. Thank you TJ, that swooning is just about the silliest animation there is, and that's saying something.

It's been uploaded to the new crap forum. It's compatible with all versions, but I'll probably do a new NL version that uses the new attraction system to make the swooning 'smarter'.

Another way of knowing if a Sim is a romance one is to ask which zodiac sign it is.

If it says taurus or libra (applies for townie, downtownie and NPC) 95% of the time it will be a romance Sim.  Exception are Mr. Big, Diva and the Grand Vampires.

Funny, because most of my own romance sims happen to be Taurus.

If you can "fix" the swooning to be smarter, by all means go for it! Once J.M. has updated the Romance mod, I'll probably find it quite amusing if my Romance sims in open relationships go around swooning at other Romance sims in similarly-open relationships. (Hey, it could be a good way to find willing victims for the Woohoo with 20 People LTW!). It's not even too bad if unattached non-Romance sims are doing it. But it bothers me to have sims in monogamous couples supposedly eyeing up other people  >:(. If 3 out of their 6 Wants are "Flirt with Partner", "Kiss Partner" & "Woohoo with Partner", why would they even want to look at anyone else? Once again, our beloved third party modders come to the rescue & fix Maxian stupid logic :D.

I've come to the conclusion that EA want us to play 'em like tarts. That's what they are with all that nonsense about giving another sim the eye! AndI've decided that Family sims are just a royal pain in the arse so most of mine are Knowledge.

My thoughts exactly.  It used to be cute pre-Nightlife when they'd get the vapors over somebody, but post-Nightlife... well, it's just stupid.
