Title: holiday party pack Post by: Zaphod on 2007 February 28, 14:37:23 so, ages ago when it first came out I got this on the ea link thingy. I do an full re-install when a new expansion comes out. This time when I go to download the party pack from the ea link thingy I get a popup saying the content is no longer avail for download. Anyone else have this prob? And yeah, its been a while since I've posted, just not much to say, but been lurkin hihi again.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: Tina G on 2007 February 28, 15:08:00 This is why I would not use that downloader thingy if THEY paid me! ::)
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: Zaphod on 2007 February 28, 15:13:45 Eh, I was lazy that day. Didn't feel like going to the store heh.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: Diala on 2007 February 28, 16:19:29 I suggest downloading it from a torrent site. After all, morally you STILL own the game, no matter what bullshit EA Link may do.
This concerns me as well, since I was told that you can redownload the file anytime you need to. Ugh, I know better than to do THAT next time. I knew I shouldn't have trusted EA. *goes to find Pets on The Pirate Bay* Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: jsalemi on 2007 February 28, 17:46:00 Check around on your disk -- if memory serves, the EA downloader actually saved the install files in some directory buried deep in its own directory in C:\Program Files. I found it by accident and was able to also install the holiday pack on my test laptop just using that file.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: Venusy on 2007 February 28, 17:51:32 I think that the problem might be that you downloaded the 2005 Party Pack, which EA probably discontinued in favour of the 2006 Party Pack.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: ElfPuddle on 2007 February 28, 18:59:11 I make no promises, but see if this (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DT09XGD2) copy of the 2005 HPP helps.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: Zaphod on 2007 February 28, 22:10:50 No legacy files found. Seems when the new downloader was released, installing it deleted the old one. Yes, I assume that when they brought out the 06 one, they stopped supporting the 05 one. Thanks bunches Elfpuddle, that did the trick!
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: SaraMK on 2007 March 01, 04:51:16 Does anyone know of any place to steal the mini pack? I bought the 2005 Holiday Pack, and I would readily buy the mini pack, but there is no way in hell that that EA Link program is coming near my computer. None of the usual torrent sites seem to have the mini pack though. I could steal the 2006 version of the pack, but then I'd have to reinstall the whole game from scratch, and I really don't feel like it.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: miros on 2007 March 01, 05:49:16 I installed the 2006 Stuff Pack over top of the 2005 Holiday Edition plus all EPs up to Pets with no problems.
The Holiday Packs aren't like the FFS and GL packs... they just give you more objects and skins, no monkeying with the executable. Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: SaraMK on 2007 March 01, 05:56:51 I had read somewhere that it wouldn't install and would say "already installed." I guess I'll try it.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: maxon on 2007 March 01, 09:47:42 I'd be happy to send it to you if someone could tell me where on earth it'd be. A moment of weakness I know but I've uninstalled the link programme now (it doesn't need it to run and you wouldn't believe the amount of memory it used and it wanted to start up and be running in the background every time you started the computer). Sod off EA.
Title: Re: holiday party pack Post by: ElfPuddle on 2007 March 01, 09:52:47 The one I uploaded was in a backup file...I couldn't find where EA put it. My FFS (also EAlink) is right alongside all of the versions installed by disk.
That wasn't very helpful, I know. I'm hoping it sparks someone else's memory. |
