Title: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: Marvelleaux on 2005 September 24, 20:22:32 What is the protocol on this? It was enabled before installing Nightlife. The new pop-up reminding me of it appeared and asked whether I'd like it enabled or not. Clicked *yes*.
What's the problem? ??? Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: Oddysey on 2005 September 24, 20:32:05 *Cough* *Cough*
It's been pretty well established that custom files will not show up in Nightlife until you enable them, then restart the game. Changes to that setting are not applied until the game is started again. Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: Ness on 2005 September 24, 20:36:21 I had a similar problem with clothing hair and makeup in my game - everything was enabled, it was in the right places... everything else showed up and worked, but not this!
Moving it from downloads to savedsims helped. Before I tried moving it to savedsims, I contacted EA's tech support - took 3 days, but they did eventually get back to me with the solution "rename the downloads folder to Downloads" - make sure it has a capital D... I'm yet to try this, but it sounds like you're having the same problem I did. I should have mentioned that I had *tried* enableing everything and still no worky. It's strange to me that all of the other downloads (recolors, etc) work as intended just not the makeup, hair and clothes. I'll mess around as you suggested. If I'm not back here whining in a few minutes consider this problem solved.

It doesn't change anything - though savedsims does. ;) Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: IgnorantBliss on 2005 September 25, 06:18:45 Or you could also try what's helped some people: Take your downloads folder out of the game completely and start up Bodyshop. That'll create a new Downloads folder automatically. Then move your files to this new folder and start the game. It's worked for some with this problem but apparently not all.
Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: Ness on 2005 September 25, 06:20:20 I thought the capital D thing was rubbish too...
until I tried it, and it actually did work! Ness Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: DuckSpeak on 2005 September 25, 06:29:02 Really... because my downloads folder was Downloads since the beginning.
Heh. Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: SimsHost on 2005 September 25, 07:09:38 *Cough* *Cough* It's been pretty well established that custom files will not show up in Nightlife until you enable them, then restart the game. Changes to that setting are not applied until the game is started again. During the brief time before I uninstalled Nightlife, I discovered that it's important not to enter a household until you've restarted the game after turning on custom content. If you enter a household, your characters can be permanently messed up. Excellent rubbish! Title: Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up Post by: Ness on 2005 September 25, 13:58:38 glad it helped!
I was extremely skeptical myself - but now I am convinced... something, somewhere is obviously case-sensitive... at least I know I'm not the only one who got caught in the same trap - thing is, it was fine pre-NL, this just started afterwards. who'd have thunk! Ness |
