Okay, so I'm bored. Here's a treasure hunt for you: Find the most godawful PANTS in all of simland!

Rules:
1. It must be a real item. Item must not be made by you or anyone on your site. No, you may not create an awful entry just for this purpose.
2. Item must be have been created BEFORE this contest! No creating an awful item just to win!
3. It must be from a real site. Somebody's Angelfryer or Geoshitties page is not a real site. Bonus points if it's a paysite!
4. It must be awful. The most awful winning entry will be chosen by a panel of selected judges and the winner will be awarded a free month's subscription.
5. Items must be submitted by the deadline, the end of Feb, Server Time.
6. Submissions must be posted here, with pictures. Show off the awfulness! Bonus points if the screenshots were from the site of the item itself, meaning it looks bad even in the propaganda photos!

I don't know... Sure it looks awful, but I think the burlesque look is somewhat intentional, whereas the pants from anitathesims2.com reach a high level of textile desecration while being portrayed as normal clothing.

Okay I hate to ask a stupid question but for the life of me I can't figure out how to post a picture on this forum...so how does one go about doing that?
I have some entries I'd love to be able to post. (Not to mention some very cute kitty pics for another thread. ;))

The only way I have found to post pictures is to upload them from my computer to a site like photobucket (most of everybody here uses photobucket) and then copy the image code from the picture there and then put it in the reply box on this site. I strongly recommend that you do a "preview" to make sure that it turns out the way you intended.

I got this information from right-clicking pictures that are posted on this site & choosing "Properties" and seeing where they came from and from looking at the codes in the quote boxes. Once I uploaded a picture to photobucket I could find the image code very easily.

Ta-daa! These pants come from Simsconnection, and are called 'Club Pants'. While the colour choices are tacky to say the least, and the belt thingies look like they were painted on, I think the worst aspect is still the mesh... Sharp-angled muscles, anyone? It may be just sharp-angled fat, too.

At least they're free.

Hee, when I first got TS2, simsconnection was the first site I stumbled onto. I hate to admit it but I actually did have those hot pink pants in my game. :-[

I thought I knew of some hideous pants but when I saw these entries, I knew I couldn't compete. Thanks for making me laugh while waiting for Bodyshop to load.

My favorite is the TSR Star Pants. I like to imagine that someone was like "let me take the ugliest maxis pants, replace the default texture with a blurry, hideous, tiled texture, not make any other changes so the shading is all wrong and the upload them to TSR to see how many people actually download them." And the answer is -- 159 people liked these pants enough to download them.

The number of downloads doesn't necessarily mean they liked it, sometimes you download awful things just to gawk.

True, and you do have to download an item to rate it, also. That's just what I like to think happened. Still, if anyone actually downloaded that to use in game that really is remarkable. They're not even good bad, like something I'd put on a Sim I hated, they're just bad.

You know what makes for bad clothes?

Overdone bumpmapping and overdone sharpening. Both are good in moderation, but people are apparently unable to tell the difference. I do often wonder if people are blind.

I never download stuff unless the picture is obviously UNEDITED. If it looks like it was sharpened, blurred, had sparklies added, or otherwise edited in Photoshop, forget it.

There are a lot of painfully ugly pants on here.  Competition is tough, but it's going to be hard to beat Hegelian's and reggikko's for the, er, style.  Probably Aquamarine's Phadrae pants win for total and complete lack of skill.

I have an entertainment center by Brasstex that I couldn't live with out. You have to use 'moveObjects on' to place the TV on top of the stereo, but it's really cool and very stylish. Some of his build items are nifty too.

I just deleted a pair of pants from my game. I wish I knew where they came from so I could enter them. They were actually a pretty nice looking pair of jeans and are in the pants section of the catalog. However, it is paired with a yellow shirt! That means that when I put those pants on a Sim, I have to use a "bare chest" shirt with it for the yellow shirt to look right. When I put any other shirt on the Sim, then both the new shirt and the yellow shirt show up!

Now that's bad pants!

Mine can't have individual toes. Not that I've ever even seen such socks, but firstly, I'm missing a toe, and secondly, having socks divided into individual toes would conflict with my partial toe-webbing.

My socks have left and right feet-I only know because they have writing and/or pics on them :D And no it isn't 'left' and 'right' :P I have rainbow toe socks, but they hurt me to wear them as I have a strangely bent little toe on my left foot due to an accident on my bike when I was a kid. Mother in Law bought them me for christmas ages ago, so I don't really want to throw them away.

Socks with toes make my feet feel creepy for some reason. I don't like anything to be stuck between my toes.

I did used to own a pair that had tassels on each toe. Bought them at a pet store for the purpose of entertaining my cat. Ended up with deep gouges all over my feet and ankles. Not only that, but the cat became conditioned to attack feet, and still does so whenever feet are poking out from under the covers or over the edge of a chair.  ::)

I'd have to disagree. To be cringe-worthy you'd have to believe that the creator took them seriously, which I don't. You don't cringe at a joke unless it falls flat, and so far it seems to have amused lots of people :)

As for the cringe factor, I always look for evidence of a huge gulf between what the creator thinks is attractive and well-made versus what anyone else with eyeballs would find appealing. In that category I'd have to nominate the patchwork pants with boots on the first page, from anitathesims. I'm always speechless when I see something like that in real life, and I'm no less so with the Sims version. My second faves are the various strangely-hued, tiling-background-as-fabric, shapeless blobs found on TSR (buntah and phadrae). They're not even good bad.

So, what are the scoring rules? I'm thinking along the lines of Iron Chef:

Down to -10 points for lack of taste
Down to -5 points overall yuckiness
Down to -5 points horrid originality

Lowest total score wins.

+1 point for just poorly made (like the one where the shorts extend past the "ridge" where the hem is supposed to be).  We don't want to reward shoddy work!

When I first looked at the shorts that "bleed" over onto the legs, I figured they were supposed to look like that -- like they had elastic at the bottoms, you know?  had some like that when I was about four  :P

Just finished my scoring and I don't want to influence anyone else, but I think it's safe to say that Hegelian is the Gold Medal winner of this thread.  :P

I dunno, those appear to be somewhat well-made (barring the uneven stripes), and while not exactly something I'd wear myself, I see that kind of stuff constantly in Florida, especially the bottoms. As Sim clothing goes, it's really not too bad. Not in the same league as the buttcrack pants, imo.
