Title: Global Props File Post by: Nepheris on 2007 February 04, 02:48:49 A bit ago I messed around some with my Global Props file to start the game in debug mode and such. I made a backup, changed the lines, got tired of debug mode and wanted to switch back.
Point is I can't remember where I put my backup file... so I'm kinda stuck here. Aside from feeling marvellously stupid I kinda need that file back so I can get out of debug mode. So if anyone with pets installed would be so kind to just give me a copy of their (unchanged) global props file, I'd be very grateful. It can be found in the following directory: Program Files --> EA Games --> Sims 2 Pets --> TS Data --> Res --> Config The file is called 'globalProps.xml' Much thanks if you'd help me out on this one. Title: Re: Global Props File Post by: Horanda on 2007 February 04, 03:02:34 I hope I've attached this properly.
In future, if you want to fiddle with the startup, use the 'userStartup.cheat' file in the /config folder in your data directory. and when you save a backup, leave it in the same directory with a different suffix (like .bak or .ori) ;) Edited to fix a file name Title: Re: Global Props File Post by: Nepheris on 2007 February 04, 03:04:02 Good idea, and thanks so much :)
Title: Re: Global Props File Post by: Venusy on 2007 February 04, 03:04:58 I really don't know why you didn't just use the userStartup.cheat file My Documents\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\Config like everyone else, it's much easier to clean up if something goes wrong...
Title: Re: Global Props File Post by: Simsample on 2007 February 04, 03:18:44 I'm guessing Nepheris was using the allmenus cheat, which requires activating debug in the globalprops. This article describes how you do this:

Title: Re: Global Props File Post by: Horanda on 2007 February 04, 11:32:03 There is a 'globalProps' file in the /MyDocuments/.../config directory with userStartup, which seems to change when you first play the game. It would make sense to use this copy, as that would be the one the game uses.
Personally, I wouldn't change anything in the game directories. I'll give it a try. |
