Title: Messed up neighborhood thumbnail/preview
Post by: kytyngurl on 2007 January 28, 16:27:10
Soon after backing up my newest 'hood in Sim PE, I noticed a strange error: The neighborhood preview/thumbnail (the one you see when you are asked to select a neighborhood to play) looks strange. Specifically, it now looks like a mostly-white grid.

I can still play in it just fine, it looks perfectly normal once you are in. Still, I'd like to get the thumbnail to look normal again.

How can I do this?

Take a screen shot of the most important part of your hood.  Paste it into an art program and save it as PNG, named N004_Neighborhood.png (use correct neighborhood number, not 004).  Copy or move that file to the My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N004 file (use correct neighborhood number, not 004).

Errrr, actually now that I've tried doing the above, it's still not working. WTH.

I'll try it again a few times, but with different images. This is really quite annoying!

It's the pixel size of the image that matters as far as I know, google the right size and resize your image. I can't remember what it's supposed to be but I had trouble getting my pic to show up initially.

It should be 400x300 pixels at resolution 100 (not 72 or 96, which is usually the default Photoshop and other graphic programs suggests)

You're sure you changed it to a PNG? When you take snapshots, they're JPG, so that would be an easy mistake to make.
