Does this want actually work for other people?

I've got a household with 3 fortune sims, they all rolled the want to buy a karaoke machine, so I got them one and nothing happened...  all three still have the wants to buy it.  I rolled them manually, but it came back not long afterwards.  Stupid game!  Reminds me of the buy a fountain worth §600 from the base game...  or was it uni?

I don't think I've ever seen that want.  Is the karaoke machine classified as a stereo?  There used to be the annoying wants to buy a "stereo costing at least XXX" which only the DJ booth would fulfill, and I know they changed that with pets to actually be "buy a DJ booth" and it can no longer be filled by buying an expensive stereo, so I assume they have at least fiddled with the want category of that one..

It's buy a karaoke machine, just like the buy a DJ booth want.  Only problem is that buying a karaoke machine doesn't satisfy it.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that it appeared until after I bought them a DJ booth.

With both GLS and Pets installed, the "buy stereo equipment over $2000 (or $2700)" is not fulfilled even when you buy a DJ booth.  Only the GLS stereo seems to qualify.  And I hate the look of that GLS stereo :(

Meh. When the "buy guitar", "buy drum kit", etc wants come up, I just buy it for them, stick it in a corner of the lot under some trees, then sell it a day later when they've forgotten about it. Then when they get the want again a while later, I can buy it again and get more aspiration points. :)

Just stick it in their inventory -- still fills the want, and doesn't take up space on the lot.

The only problem with that is that they will then reroll that particular want again...  I know you can pull the item out of inventory and it will reroll the want without satisfying it, but it's a pain!

Is it possible that the buy karaoke machine want can be fixed?  Or are we stuck with MaxisEA brokenness yet again?

Buy, put in inventory, take out of inventory, sell.  They won't lose the aspiration points for buying it and you get your money back so you can repeat the process when they roll that want again.

The little sister computer costs §2800, I've seen it satisfy the want many times.

The point is that the want for the karaoke machine is never satisfied, so the trick about stuffing it in inventories is useless.  I appreciate what you're trying to say, though.

Ness, this has also been unfulfillable in my game since the installation of Pets. Very annoying.

I made this thing ages ago to deal with the musical instrument idocy: Musical pictures (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=122779).  It's a simple solution.  They still work as far as I can tell, but the one I made to deal with the karaoke machine and DJ-booth doesn't work with pets because of the change.

I have been looking everywhere for those pictures...my file got deleted and I tried searching google, ModTheSims2, etc., but could not find the right search words.

These are fantastic and take up the room of one picture...

I've noticed the same problem. I'd swear they're rolling up that particular want more often as well. Damned annoying, as the karaoke machine is great for the creativity skill but minus the addiction of the piano.

Ok, great, I'm not seeing things. Buying a Karaoke machine is not working to satisfy that never ending want.

It IS definitely a new bug since PETS - had it yesterday, could be reproduced repeatedly. The want to get a karaoke machine IS NOT satisfied by buying on.
Very annoyable when your Sim keeps whishing it all the time ...
Hoping for some awsome hack.
By the way - I thought TwoJeffs "Buy Object Min Cost Want Hack" should fix that problem, but the hack does not seem to work anymore since PETS, all those costly wishes are back again (hack worked perfectly with OFB and I loved it)
