Title: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Tigerlilley on 2006 November 01, 00:42:59 Hey everyone,
I have been reading a few posts here about wolves etc and im a bit confused about it. I figure its possible to adopt a wolf (ive haven't seen a wolf yet). Are these wolves that people are adopting the same wolves that when a sim gets bitten they turn into a werewolf? Or can only the "Leader of the Pack" wolf bite sims. How the hell do you get pets to be friends with each other? Lastly, what does being "Master" of a pet mean? Does it mean that pet is now officially part of the family or something? I made a dog in CAS (or CAP?) and moved him in with a family but he now has a different last name. If my sim becomes master will the dog get her last name? Ok one more, what is the point of collars? I hear a dog could run away, but in my case if he is recognized as a seperate family to the family hes living with, with the collar make any difference to his return? Cheers guys :) Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: nectere on 2006 November 01, 00:47:06 Hey everyone, I have been reading a few posts here about wolves etc and im a bit confused about it. I make them play together ;D boolprop ControlPets [on/off] - Makes pets fully controlable, but you can't cancel actions from their queue boolprop PetActionCancel [true/false] - Normally, you can't cancel actions in a pet's queue, but this cheat makes those actions accessible I have both setup in my userstartup.cheat file, works great (I rarely direct them to do something but I like being able to when I want to) Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Tina G on 2006 November 01, 01:31:48 I figure its possible to adopt a wolf (ive haven't seen a wolf yet). You apparently can adopt a wolf, but NOT the leader of the pack. The leader of the pack has glowing yellow eyes and is the only one who can 'nibble' sims and make them werewolves. Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Tigerlilley on 2006 November 01, 03:20:16 cool thanks everyone
just to clarify with the collars, is all you need to do is buy one? You dont register the dog or anything? Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 November 01, 03:21:44 Don't adopt the wolves. While tempting, this just cases another one to spawn. The wolves are treated as necessary NPCs. So don't take them out of the pool unless you want to be spammed.
Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Tigerlilley on 2006 November 01, 03:22:44 ok one more question
has anyone seen a dog ghost? Or gravestone? If so please post pic cheers :) Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Berg on 2006 November 01, 03:37:49 I have only had one dog die on me so far. You can see the gravestone in the pic (the urn looked like a sim urn, but smaller, if I remember corectly).
No ghost dog yet. :) (http://www.sims2.se/iu/upload/snapshot_d2424c50_724d5fcc.jpg) (Note how the other dogs are crying/howling. Aww. And how the now deseased Mr. Pugsley had time for a last piss before her passing away...) Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Liz on 2006 November 01, 03:42:59 Regarding "Master" and being part of the family... the sim/pet relationship is different from the way it was in TS1, so much like having roomies here in TS2, when an animal moves in (is bought, born, or adopted), it becomes part of the Household. The only true "family" members pets will have are their own parents/siblings/offspring. But beyond joining the Household and becoming Pet Friends or Pet Best Friends, to the pet, once it is fond enough of a particular family member, a dog will consider that sim a part of its Pack. Likewise, a cat that likes its owner will come to consider that sim Mine. This does not necessarily happen with all sims in the household.
Additionally, if a particular sim spends enough time socialising with and (especially) training her dog, beyond being considered part of the dog's Pack, the dog can come to see that sim as his Master. That doesn't mean other family members can't be close to and/or train the dog as well, but the dog will pick just one Master. Hope that made sense! I killed a dog off to see the urn and gravestone since I couldn't find anyone that had pics available. lol If you zoom in on the urn, there's a pawprint on the cover.. right about where an aspiration sign would be on a platinum urn. I thought it was adorable. Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: jefrir on 2006 November 23, 10:21:19 A dogs master will be 25% faster at training it. If you don't give pets a surname in CAS, they will automatically get the family's surname when you move them in.
Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: blubug on 2006 November 23, 16:24:12 Do any of you have pets not fullfilling their needs to survive? I had a cat that wouldn't lick itself, although I was watching it day and night to praise if she even attempted to do it- nope she went waaay into the red, every other cat ran away from the smell. And I had one dog alone at home he refused to eat (from 3 different full bowls) and almost died! I didn't know of the cheat then, but the owner got home just in time and commanded him to go and eat. Maybe the dog was upset at being home alone? (social bar was green, by the way)
Pretty realistic to me :) Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Velax on 2006 November 23, 16:36:05 How the hell do you get pets to be friends with each other? If you want to do it without messing around with the cheats, you can give a pet with "Playfulness" trained to full the Command to "Play with....", and get her to play with the other pets. Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: miros on 2006 November 23, 22:38:23 cool thanks everyone just to clarify with the collars, is all you need to do is buy one? You dont register the dog or anything? You need to make sure you've got the right type of collar (cat, small dog, large dog). Then you put the collar on the dog using the mirror. If the dog runs away, you can call the police and the collar increases the chance you'll get it back. Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Katze on 2006 November 23, 23:06:23 What has to be wrong that the animals run away? Never had it happen in my game.
Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: sadiebutterfly on 2006 November 24, 00:38:58 Cassandra adopted a stray she found at the park and brought him home, where he was immediately attacked by her other dog and ran away before she had time to put his collar on. Sniff. He still shows up as part of the household with the same 'run away' graphic as they use for teenagers, so I'm guessing he'll come back eventually, collar or no collar. Although Cassandra may well be dead by then.

Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: Darkstormyeve on 2006 November 24, 01:21:43 Once, when patting a stray, the option came up to call that pets owner. My sim called, the obdience trainer turned up and took Balin, a wolf in my game, home. Haven't seen it since.
Title: Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) Post by: vilia on 2006 November 24, 23:51:45 Some of the pets that are not eating out of their bowls are actually trained to eat sim food instead. Try making a platter of something and pop it on the floor, if you pet is hungry it will go up to eat, then direct your sim to scold them. Rinse & repeat. After about 3 scolds they should then try to eat pet food - make sure you praise them for this & stop offering sim food.
