In what strange world do animals have to be friends to make more animals??   ::)

Does this bug the living snot out of anyone else?  I almost roared when I read this in one of the chats.  And not just friends with each other, but friends of the sims too??  And they have to be TOLD to mate???   >:(

Someone... and I really don't give a (wom)rat's ass who... REALLY needs to fix this.  Animals are... well... animals... and should mate randomly with whoever.

Beats me. In the real world, animals tend to mate whenever it happens to be mating season and they find a compatible mate.

Well, it's either mating only when told to, an uncontrolled mass explosion of animals which consumes your neighborhood in a big fiery ball visible from space, or having to spay/neuter your animals.

Well, being "friends" may be a bit much, although if animals randomly mate, we'd also need to be able to spay/neuter them. I guess that level of realism wasn't what Maxis wanted to deal with. This sounds a lot like Jeffy's territory, though.

It was probably done to make it a challenge to get your pets to mate. Maybe eventually ACR will include autonomous random pet mating.

In the same strange world where all you need to do is type "motherlode" and your bank account is fattened.   ;D

I do have an ACR extension planned for pets that will take care of this issue.

Although, in fairness, the scores don't have to be that high for the pets to mate. My eskie and her mate got it on at less than 50 ltr.

Not sure if this is possible, but maybe this is a call for two new hacks?

Well you'd really only need a always fail try for a baby for pets if they could do it autonomously. Otherwise there's not much point really unless you like to watch animals go at it, but it's not like you actually see anything anyway.

It would be cool if male cats sprayed on the furniture unless they were neutered though. ;)

Yeah, I agree with the no friendship thing. I just know that I can't be arsed to befriend my animals. It sounds dull. Animals don't need to be bought a drink first.  ;)

Totally agree with Nuetering and locking gates and doors to keep strays away.

I would rather have crazy amounts of unwanted pets making my neigbourhood a BFBVFS than the maxis alternative.
The cats I got for breeding hate each other with a passion...

It would be cool IRL if neutering would make male cats STOP spraying on the furniture.

My brother in-law's wiener-dog always tries to hump my shoulder while licking my face.

Gawd love 'em, they certainly do! It is a nasty little habit easily controlled by the whipping off of the testicles by a suitably qualified vet. It's also hardwired into their behaviour as a method of demonstrating heirarchy in the pack. You'd better make certain you're the boss if you aren't keen on dog semen...  ;D

I do think a hack for neutering is a good idea, though I'm not so certain about the spraying for a full tom, Motoki? The smell... oh, the smell.

I think the humping has less to do with intercourse and more to do with dominance. Female dogs sometimes hump males if they are the dominant ones.

Definately.  And if you let a dog hump people because you think it's funny they wind up thinking they're dominant.

Well not when they spray everywhere to mark their dominance and then the next cat has to spray on top of that spot to one up the last one and so on and so on.  ;)

Indeed...dogs humping things (other than for mating obviously) is a sign of dominance.  Most people don't realize this for whatever reason.  Hence why my mom's ugly little chihuahua attempts to hump everyone that walks into her house and the people in her house.  They treat the chihuahua like she owns the house so she thinks she does.  Stupid ass chihuahua.  My dog knows it's the submissive one.

However how does one explain cats humping random things?  My cats got a *ahem* little friendly before and after they got neutered with a stuffed animal.  It was so wrong.  Eventually I had to hide it from them.

Cats humping things is a sign of dominance as well. Though getting it on with a stuffed animal -- you probably just have perverted cats ;D.

Never had that happen.  We had one who'd piss on anything that you left on the floor, but... other than that.  I've also had a few compulsive sweater/stuffed toy washers, but never a humper.

And cats don't hump for dominance.  If you cat does hump stuff or other cats... neriana is right, it's just a pervert.   :P

I would love to see a Spay/Neuter hack, as well as one that makes pets randomly mate. When I found out that you had to tell your pets to get it on, it annoyed me. It's bad enough that your Sims cheer when the animals mate, but then they have to tell them to do it, too? Why do I get the feeling that someone at EA is twisted in the head?

My grandmother has a poodle that tries to hump you whenever you curl up in a blanket. When I was little I would try and drag my blanket around the house, and that dog would be following right behind me, trying to assume the position and molest my blanket. I thought it was the funniest damn thing. Now, not so much.

I also have three cats that are impulsive sprayers, and only two of them are male. Only one of the boys isn't fixed, and the little girl never sprayed until the boys started spraying. Quite irritating, actually. Spray is hard to get up effectively, and whenever it rains, you know for sure if you missed anything.
