Title: Roof Slope angles?
Post by: nectere on 2006 October 22, 16:22:50
Anyone gotten the new individual roof slope angles to work yet? If you have can you tell me how it works because for some damn reason I dont seem to be able to get it do anything other than give me an unknown cheat error... Also anyone used the diagonal roofs? Mine look like shit and they dont really work, I am left with some pretty ugly artifacts and it doesnt join up with the rest of the roof (thats not angled) worth a damn or actually cover the angle where the roof and wall meet...if you got these things to work can you post a pic or something with an ex-plain-ation?

I can't angle roofs using the diagonals either. Would have been the most interesting feature in the EP, but...

The diagonal roof was the feature I bought this EP for. When I tried it, it looked like complete crap. I did the old roofslopeangle cheat and on all diagonal roofs it lets the walls bleed through the top, even if it's just a degree or two below 45. The only one that did line up with the straight portion of the house is the one that doesn't have any walls. That feature really blows!

I didn't know that there was a cheat that lets you have different angles. Can you tell me what it is? Perhaps Jonesi from MTS2 has already figured it out.

I got mine to work.

you have to type in exactly:

individualroofslopeangle [# between 15-75]

and then you have to hit Ctrl & Alt and click on the desired roof.

I haven't tried it on diagonals, though.

I just wish the roofs didn't hang over so far!  Pity you can't choose overhang amount

What I hate is if you try to build roofs manually, bits of the roof stick through the rooms below.

Oh yeah, the Prima Guide says that instead of doing the ctrl click thing, the cheat affects the next bit of roof you put down.

Well, I successfully did it the way that lil brudder said to do it. Here's what it looked like:

One piece of the roof is at 35 and the other is at 30...I tried to get the 30 one to go to 25, but it wouldn't.

Like pacific_k said, it doesn't save the angles either. The whole point of using it is voided since you have to use it everytime you load the damn lot!

Nectere, did you try copying and pasting? Mine didn't work until I typed help and copied and pasted straight from there. Other than that, I don't know what could be wrong.

Question when you type it in do you type it before your pur the roof or directly afterwards. Also do your type in the [ ] ?

The way that worked for me was to lay down the whole roof. Open the cheat box and enter the cheat without the [ ] around the number. Hold down Ctrl and Alt together and click on the piece of roof that you want to change. Do that whole process for each piece of roof.

And does it save and stay like it when you go back in?

Not in my game.

What if you put the code in and then place the roof, does it save then?

That's how I tried to do it at first, but that didn't change the slope at all. If someone can figure out how to get it to save, please let me know. I've been tinkering with it for the past few days, am completely frustrated, and have been doing disgruntled signings of maxoid guestbooks. It'll be funny if it turns out that I'm just an idiot.  ;D

I'm afraid I have nothing to offer in way of solutions, but I just wanted to say, Mistyblue, that house is lovely from the outside.  I hope you get the roofs (rooves? Spell check in Work doesn't like either) sorted out, because the shallower roof pitch does enhance the overall effect.

It's broken in my game, too.  I built a house - nuttin' special - with the standard roof and exited to the 'hood.  It looked... odd.  When I went back in to look at it, all the roofs were at 75 degrees.

Thanks...unfortunately I'm going to have to stick with the old roofslopeangle cheat cause the new one is not awesome!

You can enter it whenever, you just have to Ctrl+Alt and click the desired roof to change.  Different roof slopes have never changed.
