Title: huh?
Post by: Giggy on 2006 October 22, 08:51:41
I saw on a website that a person saw this cat point its paw at this statue,
WTF is he or she doing?

Bowing down to the kitty god. *no idea what those cat statues represent, really*
Or mimicing the pose. Cuuute, either way  ;D

Looks like a dying sim pose to me... wonder why.

On second glance, it strongly reminds of a South Park episode. Just replace the Kitty statue with a wooden Cow clock and the cat with a bunch of real cows.

The kitty is just rolling around. The fact that it's pointing at anything at all is purely coincidence.

No. It's obvious that the cat is praying to be spared from the kitten killer god.  :P

Plus that statue is just purely ugly.

It' a maneki neko or goodluck cat. You'll see them in almost every store in Japan. They're supposed to bring money and good fortune. http://www.amy.hi-ho.ne.jp/~mono93/cat/english/what_e.html

That and Maxis probably saw Windkeeper made one and said 'That's a good idea. I'm glad I thought of it.'  :P

For the record, I think hers is cuter. http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/sets/258051/

Cat has clearly been taught the command "play dead".

We have one in my house. They're ubiquitous in many, many Chinese establishments & homes. It's supposed to be good luck, but for the most part, it's almost an obligatory decoration that pple just have to stick somewhere in their house.

The Maxis one is based off of the standard, wildly popular, mass produced version. The windkeeper one looks more artisanal.

Something I noticed about that statue last night is not only does it have an enviro score but also a fun score...are there interactions with it? I dont recall any of the other statues having a fun score (although it does raise fun to look at them).

Hmmm, I always thought that sculptures, like paintings, had the 'View' option that increases fun, as well as the general environment boost.
