Title: YOU can be in your game
Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2006 October 22, 03:26:01
Discovered a nice touch tonight: you can now do custom paintings.  The installed game jpegs are of cats and dogs, but you could easily reduce one of your own photos and plop it in the paintings folder.

Now, I have to wonder how many nude MATYites will be hanging on the walls of their respective neighborhoods.   ;D

As I played only my Erik Swain family tonight and the teen doing the painting has maxed creativity, I cannot confirm if this option is available for still-struggling artists.

My sims are all painting pictures of my legacy founder with the omelette on his head.

I'm looking forward to this  :) I haven't got the game yet, but when I do I will have to learn how to resize paintings. Do we know what size they have to be?

This (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/mrexpert25/1160191618226.jpg) works well with a painting although I didn't take a picture of it in the game.  Tthe other images I can put in there have to be cropped or aren't in the right format.  It surprises me that they don't support gif.  Anyway, the ratio is 2:3 if you wanted to design something for Sims to paint, for example 800x1200 is the largest the game will accept which will also have its entirety on the canvas without cropping.

It's really too bad that we can't flip the canvas on its side, 1200x800 is a common format for Widescreen walls.

Hahahaha!

Nice picture.

THanks for the ratio.

Okay, I get how to add our jpgs in the Paintings folder but how do I get my sim to paint it???  I've got one who's maxed in creativity and my options were paint, paint still life, paint [another sim].  Am I missing something?

There should be an option to "Paint Custom Painting". If it doesn't show up, make sure your custom paintings are named correctly and that you have no conflicting hacks.

Thank you!  It works now.  I had Faster Paint hack from MTS2.

Also I interrupted the sim in the middle of his painting so he could go pee.  When I clicked on the easel again, there was no option to continue painting, only to scrap it.  Is that what happens with custom paintings?  That's why I had faster paint hack in the first place.  **mumble, grumble**

In Soviet Russia, game is in YOU!

Did you click on the easel, or the painting itself? There is no "Continue Painting" option if you click on the painting, but there should be one if you clicked on the easel.

Thank you... again!  Yes, that option is there when clicking on the easel itself.  I like this site.  I learn something new everyday.
