Title: Pets "mini" image *Update 11-1-06* Smaller! Post by: Argon on 2006 October 20, 18:45:47 EDIT: Newer more awesome, smaller file download!
Syberspunk requested it, so here it is Technically it's not a mini image because those haven't worked since Nightlife due to the way Safedisc checks the size of the cd, but it will take less space on NTFS formated drives on Windows 2000/XP. NEW: Sims2EP4_Argon.rar (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=6008.0;attach=5329) OLD: SIMS2EP4_MAXI.rar (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TZITNTZ6) Steps: -Extract to whatever folder you want it -Right click on Sims2EP4_1.mdf go to Properties>Advanced...>Compress contents to save disk space (then press ok and then apply; wait a while) -Install the latest version of DAEMON Tools (4.06HE is the one I have) -Mount Sims2EP4_1.mds in DAEMON Tools -Run a program like sd4hide to get the image to work -Start the game OR: -Install DAEMON Tools -Install CureROM and setup a profile so you can run the game by clicking a shortcut Title: Re: Pets "mini" image Post by: syberspunk on 2006 October 20, 20:08:16 /me mashes the Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnk youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabaaaaaaaaaaaabutton!

I haven't installed it yet (bought it today), but I've had problems with the last 2 or 3 releases and my CD/DVD drive not recognizing the copy protection on the disk. You've saved me the long effort of making my own image. :) Title: Re: Pets "mini" image Post by: Motoki on 2006 October 31, 04:46:56 There's actually one on gamecopyworld too if it makes any difference.
Title: Re: Pets "mini" image Post by: Argon on 2006 November 01, 02:23:32 What the?!
.iso format doesn't keep the Safedisc protection last time I checked, has anyone even tried that file on gamecopyworld? *runs off to try it* I've lost faith in gamecopyworld, they still haven't put up the GLS image I submitted ages ago >_< (though they did the FFS one pretty quick) Edit: woah! weird, it does work... I wonder how they did it then, every time I tried it always failed. Title: Re: Pets "mini" image Post by: Motoki on 2006 November 01, 02:59:15 Yes their's works. I've actually been using it for a while. I think they put it up around the same time you put yours up.
Title: Re: Pets "mini" image Post by: Argon on 2006 November 02, 04:58:11 Success! After discovering that UltraISO is crap for converting .mdf to .iso, I've perfected my "maxi" image technique.
Boring steps to prove I didn't just hack that one on gcw: 1. Load game with Bus Hound logging the sectors read 2. Quite game, decipher log 3. Make .mds/.mdf if not done already 4. Open .mdf with UltraISO to find what sectors the extra folders are in 5. Run BW5Tweaker and enter the sector gaps where the protection is and the extra folders 6. Convert .b5i to .mdf using UltraISO (can't find win32 compile of b5i2iso T_T) 7. Convert .mdf to .iso with mdf2iso (the only one I've found that doesn't screw the protection over) 8. Hex out extra file names I was bored and decided to go ahead and delete all the unneeded blank files from the image since it wasn't that hard, works great and the file size is less than 1 meg when you compress it with NTFS file compression (396 KB to be exact) ^__^ It's the US version not the multilanguage copy they always post on gamecopyworld. You'll only see two files if you open the virtual cd drive, no one ever does that. Sidenote: Happy birthday from me, it's tomorrow 8) |
