Just how many Pets pre-release rewards are there? Here's all the ones I know of:

• Purple Pug (Amazon.co.uk)

• Bandicat/Bandit cat (GAME.co.uk (http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11337&mid=329126)) (can someone please clarify, is this "bandicat" as in bandicoot+cat or "bandit cat" as in cat burglar? The banner ad (http://img.game.co.uk/images/wk32/he_sims2pets_console.gif) shows it could be either or.)

The so-called "bonus" code is completely unlockable in the game for everyone, whether they preordered or not. You unlock all of them by levelling up in the pet careers. THe only thing "bonus" about it is that you get it immediately.  ::)

Except I can't get mine to work. Says "invalid code" Damn Them!

That's a load of crap, once you enter the code it says you can share it... and the code posted on here is exactly the same as mine... DUH!

EDIT: actually it looks as if the unlock codes you get from careers are things like pink fur or whatever, they have a few different things like collars

1) Where do you put the codes in anyways? Is there an in-game interface for unlocking items (not just the bonus junk, but the career related stuff?)

 ^__^ yes, I will post one... once my box comes! XD I did some dirty business so I could play ahead of time ^_^' I paid for it, so I feel justified using a bittorrent.

1) The code is entered under game settings - gift codes or something to that effect, it's not hard to find (though the button is on the bottom of that screen)

2) The GLS one will no longer be needed

There is no download, just a code to unlock it in the game. The problem is, no one has posted the other codes yet... even though they are not unique to them.

I do believe that one can get the Star Dalmation Bonus free when you purchase the expansion from Target.  I'm not 100% sure on that though. 

We don't have a Target here.  We don't have any of the bloody stores that do pre-orders here.  So that's why when I finally do get all the pre-orders, and I will, I'll put them all up for download.  ;D

Frankly, I'm not keen on the marketing tactics they're using "If you want this, you have to go to THIS store to get it." Not cool. Granted, I realize we don't have to go there, but it's still a little uncool to coax purchasing in stores you otherwise wouldn't go to if that's what you want.

It's just a gimmick, the content isn't even really disabled, and Maxis apparently is encouraging these codes. They also apparently unlock themselves in-game.

I'm not interested in having a purple pug (or any pug) and the star dalmatian is cute but the only one I am really interested in is the Bandit Cat so I'm really happy to have that code  8)

I dislike the "buy at this store and get this" crap, hopefully EA continues this unlockable practice.

The different unlocks seem to really just be subtle random changes to a master password, but here are a few more codes assuming I didn't get cross-eyed when typing them in:

I found the pets a bit annoying, uninstalled Pets and restored my Uni/NL/OFB/FFS/GLS game folder so I didn't really spend much time playing once I got my copy. When my little bro manages to convince me, I'll reinstall and play a test family alongside him and try to unlock everything to share.

Alot of the unlocks occur randomly. I've had a few pets in a few careers and they get a random unlock at each career level. I wonder how many unlocks there are?

Also anyone notice in boolprop there is a spawn option for learning behaviors. I've tried it but i can't get a object to spawn.

Oh okay..


It spawns an invisible, uninteractable object if there is nothing around your sim at the time of spawning. I have no idea how to get that piece of crud to work. :P

O On" there will be a key icon which, when highlighted, will say "Click to view unlocked assets and generate Sims Gift Codes to share your new content!"
At the bottom-right corner of the Unlocked Sims Gift Codes window, there should be another key icon with a 0101 under it.

I'd have to look in SimPE once Quaxi gets it working, but more than likely they just hid those breeds with a 9 flag or something like that in which case, like the npc and work clothes, it wouldn't be any big deal to unlock.

Umm about that, I think that this new Accessory.cache file in my user folder might be something. I tried opening it in SimPE (GLS version) and it's all gibberish to me. Maybe someone who speaks random hex code strings would know how to make sense of it. :P So I'm not sure about that 9 flag thingy, but after testing removing it, I can say this is the file that stores the data of which things you've unlocked.

The current QA version of SimPE should be Pets compatible. Quaxi posted some XML on page 31 of the QA thread which, if added to SimPE's expansion.xreg, adds Pets compatibility.

For obvious reasons I have not been able to confirm this myself.

I just picked up the EP at Target over my lunch hour and the code for the Star Dalmation is:

I checked it against this thread and the Wiki article and didn't see that it had been posted yet. (The Wiki article lists a star coat pattern but it is a different code).  I am still at work so obviously haven't had the chance to install and try it out yet.

I read somewhere that there should be an option to change a pet's appearance via the mirror (for adding collars, etc), but when I click on the mirror, there is no such option for this. Is this another bug, or am I just smoking crack?

Yeah, check your hacks to see if you have any ones regarding mirrors such as the visitorenabledmirror and custom mirrors. Those are supposedly giving problems.

It could also be that you are using a custom mirror.
