Title: Hack to stop servos swimming?
Post by: Karen on 2006 October 16, 13:27:40
I had a servo autonomously jump into the pool yesterday.  It nearly shorted itself out before I noticed and told it to get out.  I didn't know servos could commit suicide like that!  Does anybody know of a hack to keep servos from swimming autonomously?

The OFB path should fix that.  Pescado's Poolhack also does the trick.

If you mean the OFB patch, I already have that installed.  I'm not sure about the poolhack, I'll have to check.

ETA:  I looked at the RTFM for the poolhack and it only refers to visiting Sims, not members of the household.  Also, it hasn't been updated since before OFB came out so it most likely doesn't have any checks for servos.

Heheh. Maybe I should reenable the behavior for red-aspiration Servos, so they actually CAN be suicidal.

I'd like that.

I have a servo who just loved going swimming.  I finally solved this by putting him on Power Idle when I wasn't having him help with homework or training someone on a career reward.  Thank goodness and JMP for macrotastics!

Sounds like Maxis either a) doesn't think their bright ideas through, or b) makes it the player's problem. I wonder what weakness werewolves will have.

I think that's been pretty self-evident all along.  Otherwise there wouldn't be a need for things like the phonehack, or any of the dozens of other MATY hacks that make the game playable.
