Title: The power button on the front of a e-machine... Post by: ThyGuy on 2006 September 30, 18:10:51 was broken, so I had to pull the front off so I could remove the button. Well, in the process I accidently pulled the wires from the motherboard... and I have no clue where these wires go. Does anyone know where these wires would need to be placed. Obviously, I can't turn the coomputer on without these plugged in.

Only the led-light, power and reset button tend to be difficult to find (because they are tiny) everything else should go where they can go. Title: Re: The power button on the front of a e-machine... the mobo manual I found online says nothing of these wires. Let's thank them for being dumb bastard and asuming this wouldn't happen to anyone. Intel® 845GL chipset is the mobo type. Junky, yeah, but it's goodd enough for someone who plays nothing but pogo games. Title: Re: The power button on the front of a e-machine... Post by: Gwill on 2006 September 30, 20:20:11 Usually there is a cluster of pins in double rows, along one of the sides of the motherboard. If you're lucky, both the wires and the motherboard is marked. Otherwise you'll have to dig up the manual.
If it's just the led lights you can just ignore it. If the power button is one of those wires, it's best to find out where it goes, or you'll have a bit of hassle turning the computer on. The computer won't blow up if you try turning it on with the wires detatched. Title: Re: The power button on the front of a e-machine... Post by: ThyGuy on 2006 October 01, 00:32:33 Yep, and it helped. unfortunately the power supply appears dead, and with the processor in the state it is; I doubt I'll ever worry about replacements parts, as the cost to buy the parts would be better put in buying half the parts for a new computer.
