Title: University. Oh what fun Post by: Ayslhyn on 2006 September 27, 21:41:55 Has anyone else noted that if you use a particular dorm for any length of time then the NPC's will begin to develop a pathological loathing for each other and fights will increase?. This is moderately amusing up to a point but gets tedious when the playable Sim gets up every 5 seconds to watch yet another fight.
It HAS to be due to the autonomous NPC interactions. What fun. A dorm full of sociopathic lunatics. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Assmitten on 2006 September 27, 21:55:44 Holy crap. Are you hack-free? I have never heard of this.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: rohina on 2006 September 27, 21:58:13 I had this happen when I was trying to test the mod currently known as Casual Romance, TWOJEFFS, sexy thang or whatever.
I was all set for the dormies to be autonomously romancing one another and had put in a bunch of double beds, and all they did was get into fights. I think it is part of the sadorandom nature of dormie generation. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Ayslhyn on 2006 September 27, 22:02:16 Hack-free my posterior. I have and treasure the MATY College Adjuster hack. Any dorms used for any length of time do develop this problem/
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: jsalemi on 2006 September 27, 22:26:30 There's a 'NoForceWatchFight' hack around that keeps sims from running to watch the fight if they're busy doing something else. Thing is, I can't remember where I got it :-\ -- I'll see if I can figure out the source.
You can also try Crammyboy's 'Less Autonomous Fighting' hack -- it only lets the sims fight if they're in a bad mood. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,1286.0.html Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: dizzy on 2006 September 28, 00:58:29 If you have Uni+NL, you will notice a disturbing trend to have a lot of fights in dorms. This is perfectly normal and is working *as designed* by Maxis.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: veilchen on 2006 September 28, 01:19:10 There ya go! It's a feature, not a bug.
::) Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 September 28, 01:30:10 The NL-added "furiousness" feature tends to cause hatred to really go downhill really fast, as instead of simply developing a quiet loathing of the others without getting quite bad enough to fight, and thus looking for someone else, sims go into a fuming rage and attack!
Naturally, this is very entertaining, although I can see why you're getting irritated if it's constantly stomping queues. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 September 28, 01:37:35 heh, my dorm must be broken then, I hardly ever see any fights :D
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: dizzy on 2006 September 28, 01:39:55 In my dorms, it's a pretty common feature. I guess I'm just used to it.
Pranking leads to poking which leads to shoving and slapping. This leads to fighting. Meh, whatever. :-\ Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 September 28, 01:48:10 Yeah, it's like that entire "path to the Dark Side" thing.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Dopp on 2006 September 28, 08:08:31 There's a 'NoForceWatchFight' hack around that keeps sims from running to watch the fight if they're busy doing something else. Thing is, I can't remember where I got it. The hack is in Crammyboy's Propane section. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: KittKitt on 2006 September 28, 08:17:16 More specifically, Here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,1308.0.html).
You won't even really notice it's installed for the most part. It's pretty transparent, and doesn't actually change much about your game. What it does do however is make it so that only silly-nilly autonomous crap a sim is doing can be stomped from their queue, while anything you've told them to go do and so forth will finish before they bother going to see the fight. This has the lovely side effect that if you so desire, you've got time to kill the "watch fight" icon from their queue before they ever take a step in that direction most of the time. Makes this sort of thing a lot less annoying IMO. -Kitt Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Gwill on 2006 September 28, 08:45:31 I have a cheerleader who always beat up her professor.
It's great fun to watch. They've been a phenomenon at campus for about 5 generations now. If I was into that kind of stuff it could be a great story about a Cheerleader who never graduates because of her hate-hate relationship with her professor. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: jsalemi on 2006 September 28, 14:12:09 Thanks Dopp and KittKitt -- don't know how I missed that when I searched for it yesterday. Now that I know where it came from, I can move it out of my generic 'hacks' directory into the 'cboy' one. :)
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Batelle on 2006 September 28, 16:17:55 I must have the 'NoForceWatchFight', because my sims never run to watch fights.
They do, however, always want to watch pranks. Since I've gotten a new computer that allows for a million sims on community lots, every trip downtown inevitably devolves into a ginormous prankfest. It's amazing to watch one sim get joy buzzered, sob for fifteen minutes, and then turn around and prank a totally different sim from the one who pranked them in the first place. Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Emma on 2006 September 28, 16:24:30 I hate the autonomous 'drop everything to watch the soap bubbles in the fountain prank' thing >:( Don't know if there is a hack to stop this, haven't looked yet :D

Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 September 28, 16:54:03 your welcome, I happened to have InSIM open too so it only took a second *laughs*
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: Emma on 2006 September 28, 19:28:27 I saw you there! :D
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: dizzy on 2006 September 28, 22:16:26 The auto soap bubble viewing is pretty cool, actually. Except for when they are pulled out of a deep sleep to go look at it - that is not cool.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: flowerchile on 2006 September 29, 13:14:50 If you have Uni+NL, you will notice a disturbing trend to have a lot of fights in dorms. This is perfectly normal and is working *as designed* by Maxis. I am glad you said that.. :) I have a Uni Dorm (Where my Self-Sims Stories are based at), and they do very little but fight. Two couples, One M-F and one F-F are at each-others throats as aften as they can be. When they aren't actually fighting, they are poking eachother, snarling and thinking about the next fight. I thought I may have installed a hack without knowing it :P Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: jsalemi on 2006 September 29, 13:47:43 I had my first death-by-fighting last night in a dorm -- one dormie kept picking fights with other dormies and my sole playable in the dorm, to the point where he was too busy fighting to eat. After one too many fights, he died of hunger. I wasn't entirely sorry to see him go, since he had made enemies with pretty much all the other dorm residents and was constantly disrupting things, but it was kinda bizarre seeing all those sims (including my playable) standing around pointing and laughing at him when he died. I was so taken by surprise that I didn't think to get a picture of it.

Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: kewian on 2006 September 29, 19:06:06 I had these two dormies who constantly fought day and night ...arguing and then to the point of fighting everywhere they went. I eventually got a cowplant (not realizing it could get its own food) and it ate one of them . But that wasnt good enough the other dormie decided he hated my sims next and picked fights with them...so I had to kill them too. This fighting is way too much.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: jsalemi on 2006 September 29, 22:36:45 Yea, in some dorms I hardly ever see a fight, in other's, it's like they're filming a sequel to 'Fight Club'. :)
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: notveryawesome on 2006 September 30, 13:41:08 I avoid this by not allowing dormies in my dorms - I can't stand the buggers! I move in enough playable sims to inhabit all the rooms, or turn one of the rooms into a study room, art room, or whatever (removing the 'Myne' door of course). Works great for me ;D
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: rohina on 2006 September 30, 23:11:08 The most fun I had with dormies was when I was playing ethiopian email at college. Sooooo many dead dormies.
Title: Re: University. Oh what fun Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 October 02, 02:17:43 The fighting thing is hilarious, though. I still remember the old run of BlueSoup, Warrior Princess. Too bad the pictures were eaten in Hurricane Josh.
