Title: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Braveheart on 2006 September 25, 18:17:20 As you can see by the attached pic, the basement of my sim home is flooded. I tried removing it with the pool tool but that doesn't work. It was not like this when I put the objects down there. What happened and how do I fix it? Any help appreciated. Thanks Tracy

Something about the neighborhood terrain. Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Orikes on 2006 September 25, 18:39:34 More than likely the area of your terrain that the house is built on would be a low lying area near the water. I had this problem with a bunch of houses in my 'hood.
I don't think there's really anything you can do to fix it, other than moving the house to higher ground (and even then I"m not sure it would directly fix it). Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 September 26, 02:46:08 hehehe... that looks awesome, I would keep it.
Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Braveheart on 2006 September 26, 14:46:13 Thanks people. I did try moving the house to 'higher ground' but that proved ineffective. Seems I will have to accept it as it is. My family's basement is flooded and no one in the 'hood has a pump. Sometimes life just sucks!

Is that like an "easter egg" Maxis left in, or is it just a glitch? It seems really hightech, I mean, the game would to have water graphics underneath the surface of the game. In that respect, the game is quite 2D. Except when you can acutally see things in the fridge - that's just cool!! Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Horanda on 2006 September 26, 22:52:06 Fridges usually are ;D
Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 September 26, 23:02:35 If you save the home on higher ground and reload it, does that help? What about saving it once it is on higher ground, moving it (in place I guess, but still on higher ground), and then loading it again?
I realize these suggestions sound dense, but doing similar things worked for me, and it seems like you need to get the game to acknowledge the change and refresh it somehow, without actually lot-binning it... Or you could move in amphibians or elves or some other sort of water themed family. My favorite family raises their toddler spawn in an underwater pen like that. Only I made that house before nightlife, so I had to use the old style "foundation under the pond" method... This way just seems easier. Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Remember when moving houses, you'll need the stayable shrub, unless you want all your stuff to be sold. Then ignore my comment :) Title: Re: Why is my basement flooded? Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 September 27, 21:18:00 I meant just picking it up and moving it in the neighborhood- though I assume using the shrub to have them move in and out would probably work.
