Title: Free Will Sims Still Whining
Post by: SimSpore on 2006 September 20, 20:30:32
Hope I'm not asking something that has been asked before, because I've been doing a search over many sites for a while now. But, if it has and I missed it, my apologies ahead of time.

Has anyone, or can anyone make/made a hack to stop the Sims from whining when they need to sleep, eat, be entertained and whatnot. I'm so tired of hearing them shout at me and trying to get my attention by waving their arms over their heads with their thought bubble showing what their dire need is. Having them set to Free Will seems worthless if I have to direct them every time to go pee or sleep or do some activity with all the goodies I have loaded them up with. Instead, they just stand there whining and it's driving me nuts :P

What you want is the one called Less Whiny, although it sounds like you could use most of the Director's Cut.  ;)

Ahh! Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. Unlike my simmies I'll try not to bug you all too much with silly questions because I couldn't find my way around :D

Grabbing macrotastics, turning free will off, and slapping all your sims on power idle will solve your arm waving and stupid sim problems.

Go the macros!

Ok, so I have another dumb question... what's 'macrotastics'???

Oh, and one more question before I get banned (JK) is there any program where I can view the objects in my download file so I can better get an idea what I want to keep and what I want to trash? I have SimPE but can't figure it out, and Content Manager which only shows the skin or template of an object.

There use to be a great little tool for TS1 that let you scroll through your downloads and you'd get a preview 3D  image, plus info on the item and the choice to delete it if you wanted. Anything like that out there?

First question - Macrotastics is a JM special that automates your Sims and their abilities to take care of themselves with as little stupidity as possible.  Check JM's section for a Macrotastics thread.

2nd - Yes, the Categorizer from www.simwardrobe.com  I think the same person made the Sims 1 tool.

What a great experience I've had with my first post here!
Got lots of quick, friendly and useful help.
Thanks to you all ;D

We've been friendly?  Oh no!  JM will not be pleased!   :D

"lesswhiny" - "Sims whine less, particularly about stupid things." (from the RFTM)

I don't think that hunger, low energy, and low fun are included in this hack.

Hunger, energy, fun, bladder, and the rest moods described on the right, are not "stupid" things, but essential needs. You can't give a sim-kid to do homework, when his fun rate is low - period. The game is programmed that way. Better take care of the essential needs, even with hacked object, and increase the mood rate.

Instead of a hack, I would use Merola's Multi-Painting.

Which is a hack.  :P

Hehe, Brynne!

Right - but it's hacked *object*, which doesn't contradict  any global behavior, and even when  checking the Downloads folder with the Clean Installer - it is "white and clean".

Well, I distinguish between "mod" and "hacked objects". "Lesswhiny" is a mod, and Merola's painting is a hacked object.

Edit:  may be it's better to distinguish between "hack" (mod), and "cheat", like Moveobjects on?

this brings to mind the question... what has happened to VS?

I get an active connection but the redirect taps out.
Google's has a cache of the page (http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:http://www.variousimmers.net/) taken on the 19th of this month, meaning the downtime is recent.

[Edit] Looks like Sims 2 Workshop shares the same fate.  :-\

VS has gotten slower and slower since JM left.  (http://67.15.129.139/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

It looks up to me. The server consistently seems to be running at high load, though. Why, I do not know.

Well that's both of them gone now.   Personally I think the problem was with the server.  It was saying that which got me banned last time (Vampire's doesn't like his server being criticised) but of course he's no longer hosting anything he can ban me from so I can say it now - Vampire's buttocks suck!

Oh Wow. That is about the funniest thing I have read in some time. *wipes tears from eyes*
