Title: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 August 25, 20:13:01 I rarely use it, so I'm not sure what I might have done. If I try and open BodyShop, it gives me the loading screen, gets about 1/8th of the way across and then gives me a message that it needs to close. The Sims2 itself runs just fine.
Anyone seen this type of thing before? Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 August 25, 20:15:18 Nope, but a couple of things you can try:
Delete cigen.package. It hangs out in the same place as groups.cache. If your Downloads folder is subfolder, remove all the things that have nothing to do with bodyshop, like objects and recolours. Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Emma on 2006 August 26, 06:00:50 Are you using the bodyshop.exe from your latest expansion? I had this problem when I installed Uni and was still using the .exe from the original game.
Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 August 26, 14:53:50 I never had a problem using Bodyshop from the vanilla game after installing EPs. But the packages tend to tell people I used OFB content when I didn't.
Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 August 26, 16:04:18 I've attached two files that were created after the crash.
I deleted the cgen package to be sure that wasn't a problem. I also made sure I was opening up the bodyshop from Family Fun Stuff (my latest ep). The exact error is "The application has crashed. The application will now terminate." Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: proudbrunette on 2006 August 26, 16:19:57 hmm are you running the sims2 while you open the body shop? because that happened to me once but all i had to do was exit the sims2.then again i do not know a lot about computers ;D
Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 August 26, 17:09:34 do you have any custom sims? could be one (or more) of them is corrupted
does bodyshop work if you remove all your custom content? (edit - I ask because if you have a corrupted file then removing all your custom content is the fastest way to check) Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: proudbrunette on 2006 August 26, 17:13:25 body shop works with all or none costum content (at least mine does)
Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 August 26, 18:19:50 I'm not running the Sims when I try and get into BodyShop, so I know that's not the problem.
I also tried removing the DOwnloads folder so there was no custom content in there. It gave the same error. The reason I was trying to get into bodyshop was because I wanted to see if that could help me isolate which custom hair I have is bad. I've got a bunch of custom hair that is broken. It shows up as an item in game, but basically removes the back of the sim's head if I select it. I have no idea which files it is and was hoping I might be able to isolate it better in body shop. I also wanted to try some of the tutorials I've found on making custom clothing. Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: nectere on 2006 August 26, 21:41:27 there should still be a cheat in cas mode that you can use to find it
enable debugging mode then go into cas and shift N hover over thumbnails and it will tell you info about the file Also try reinstalling bodyshop Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 August 27, 05:13:54 I'll wait on reinstalling body shop. I'll probably be getting the Glamour pack when it comes out and I'll need ot do that install anyway.
Thanks for the advice, folks. Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 September 03, 06:02:55 Well, I installed Glamour Life and BodyShop still doesn't work. Same thing happens. It gets part way, then gives the error and creates those files.
Ah well. Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Weaver on 2006 September 03, 08:46:40 Do you have any custom sims in the My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/SavedSims folder?
That was what caused Bodyshop to crash and burn with the error message for me previously. Title: Re: I Broke BodyShop Post by: Orikes on 2006 September 03, 17:37:44 You'rea genius, Weaver. :) THat did it. There were two files in the Saved Sims folder. I took them out and Bodyshop opened up just fine.
