Someone finally made a decent looking grand piano: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=179634

Does the backend of it stick out of things like the other one? (They couldn't bother to change the grid from 2 by 1 to 2 by 2 or 2 by 3...)

That looks pretty sweet! I almost downloaded it, then remembered I'm not on my own computer.  :P
Will bookmark for when I get my 'puter back from the shop.

Just download and transfer using your flash drive later. That's what I do all the time.
Downloading is very important, ya know  ::)

And Rascal, stop pasting your links everywhere. This is potentially harmful  :D

That's what I've been doing. I'd better get home before my flash fills up!

I use the twelve grand piano.  It looks great, but it does stick out beyond its assigned grid.  I use a pair of invisible coffe tables to keep sims from walking through it.

Post by: ElfPuddle on 2006 August 02, 06:17:40
Good idea! *makes mental note to find and keep invisible coffee tables*

Post by: Gwill on 2006 August 02, 06:20:07
An invisible sculpture or something is probably better.  I haven't actually had the problem, but I suspect sims wil put used coffee cups on the invisible coffe table.  Although it will probably be hidden within the piano.

Ah yes, that would look strange.

I need to actually *get* a flash drive.  :P

I may do that. May be a while before I get my child computer back.

Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 August 02, 08:54:57
But if you use invisible sculptures, then the sims will admire them, although that might not be as bad, because you could pretend they are admiring the piano.  :-\

Get one. It is DIRT cheap nowadays. Can't imagine how you survive till now without a flash drive lol.
Important for me to steal obtain data anytime, anywhere  ::)

Rascal, your links are always harmful. Thank god that stupid site of yours only have 2 sets now. I now have 10000 items in my download folders thanks to you, vilia and horrible kaci.

I downloaded an alternative to the piano once. It was just a keyboard and looked better for a Uni band. It was made/cloned from the actual piano, but the sims did not gain fun points, so I deleted it. Have those pianos (above) the ability to give the sim(s) fun points?

Yes - both these piano's give fun points (in my game anyway - I have Uni and NL but not OFB).  I am getting a graphical glitch with the first one though - a black bar is appearing above the piano.  I've posted in the creator's thread at MTS2 to let them know but judging by the comments there I may be the only one it is happening to.

And kacidama - Jysudo just likes to have someone to curse when his game takes half and hour to load.  Its easier to blame us than admit he's got a problem  ;) (mind you I curse him when I'm loading my game so there you go  ;D)

Post by: Jysudo on 2006 August 03, 02:57:28
Rascal, we should go to Nectere's and fight this out. We have established threads there  >:(

My game don't take half an hour to load. It only takes *drumrolls* 3 minutes. Just enough for me to read a page from a novel.

Now now, why am I the only one cursed? Kaci and vilia played a huge role. Have you checked out simsecrets.biz? Stupid Kaci just shoved that link at us  >:( >:(

It's happening to me too. I just haven't gotten back to MTS2 to report it on the thread.

Really? I haven't seen mention of that anywhere, in any of Glamour pics. Is this something they decided to add at the last moment (or are keeping from us?)

Thanks, I'll try it out (not the one where you guys have a black bar, I'll wait and see on that one :D). I'm a little bored by the same old piano all over the place.

By the way, thanks for the OFB version of your data-base, Pegasys.

I could swear that I saw it in a picture...I'll go look for it.

UPDATE: Dammit, I can't find it. Was I just imagining things? Maybe I was looking at something else and thought it was a grand piano? Argh, sorry about that.

There is no glamour pack. All claims about the glamour pack are nothing more than lies and propaganda.

I wouldn't say that. There are quite a few grand pianos out there, all of which look quite nice. This one actually looks weirdly curtailed and stumpy. Previous grand pianos have been better looking, IMO.

Well, then, links would be helpful, since that's the first one I've seen, and only one person here has posted a link to another one. :)

it looks wrong in some way..
the tail of the piano is realy important' cause it's necessary for the lowest notes, so that's why the classical piano is so big.

so the proportions of the object are totaly wrong

Title: Re: A grand piano for your richer sims
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 August 12, 12:58:50
It depends on what type of grand piano.  A baby grand may only be 5 feet while concert grands may be up to 12 or more feet.  That's why grand pianos sound so much better, but most people can't fit those into their homes unless they have a room specially built for them, but they are also very expensive and hard to move.  So a baby grand is usually the biggest most people can fit into their homes without having to build a special room.

Post by: MaximilianPS on 2006 August 13, 21:16:47
yes it's correct, nothing to say about it... !  ;)
.. btw i rest on my idea, the tail should be a bit more long, this piano it's too "rectangular" for my eyes :P
