Title: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Marvelleaux on 2006 July 13, 12:56:11 Boy, wouldn't it make the game more fun if the game would go on super-speed when Servo powers down? It sure would be less annoying. I bet this is a hack JM had already thought of and was just getting around to doing anyway so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal if I mentioned how great it would be and all.
Heck, what a great guy! Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: sintrinity on 2006 July 13, 15:13:16 Totally agree. I got sick of restocking the fridge cause servo won't stop cooking so she stays powered down ALOT.

I got sick of restocking the fridge cause servo won't stop cooking so she stays powered down ALOT. You need JMP's 'no servo do chores' hack, found here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,3333.0.html -- it stops them from cooking all the time, among other things. Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Marvelleaux on 2006 July 13, 22:19:49 Even with "No Server Do Chores" hack my electronic helpers spend a lot of time cooking, etc. I don't really mind that (they always clean up after themselves!), but I do mind how powering them down doesn't initiate a "sleep" mode. It's annoying.
Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Torkle on 2006 July 13, 22:55:31 Actually, I'd like to see Servo Recharge, Servo Power Down, and Meditate all get automatic hyperdrive. This calls for further code investigation...
Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 July 14, 01:31:39 Push 3, people. If you're anything like me, your fingers stay there all the time anyway and mash it the moment they even START to get into bed, without waiting for them to actually do it.

Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: jfade on 2006 July 14, 03:25:32 My fingers tend to shift back and forth between 1 and 3 rapidly because of constantly speeding boring things up, then realizing another sim in the house is being stupid and about to die, shifting back to 1, then getting them back to what they need to be doing and hitting 3 again, etc etc.
Really though, the automatic speed-up thing annoys me to death, because it always seems to happen at the wrong time, like right when the pregnant sim who is about to starve passes out. ::) Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Kokopelli on 2006 July 14, 03:31:27 3? I always play with 1, yes it can be very boring, but I like to make sure no sims die because of stupidity.

Although now it's sorta an unconscious movement. 131313131313 Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Paperbladder on 2006 July 14, 06:38:50 ~ - Pause
1 - Normal Speed 2 - Super Speed 3 - Ultra Speed I tend to use 1 when I need to give unimportant orders, ~ for important ones. I tend to not use the queue. 3 when I have sims skilling or anything else that doesn't require me to give constant orders. I tend to slow it down to 1 before they go to work or sleep, since that Ultra Speed seems to be faster than 3. It might just be a placebo effect, I dunno. I use 2 where 3 would be too fast. 0 pause 1 2 3 Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: tIIsuggas on 2006 July 14, 07:54:10 All this time I have been playing this game, and never knew that 0 paused the game.
My gameplaying experience will be so much improved, no more pulling out the keyboard to hit the 'p'. The maxis pause button is way too small. Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 July 15, 13:39:11 I thought the ~ key paused.
Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: kacidama on 2006 July 15, 14:06:33 The *0* key is easier to hit on the numpad
Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 July 15, 14:21:49 The *0* key is easier to hit on the numpad But awkward if you're playing with a righthanded mouse configuration, as most people do. I have both left and right meeces, but TS2 is generally played right-handed, unlike shooters, which I play left-handed. I know, I'm strange like that.Title: Re: super-speed when Servo "powers down" Post by: Marvelleaux on 2006 July 16, 04:40:14 I play with my right hand on the mouse and with my left middle three fingers resting on the space bar for easy cycling and micromanagment. However; I just discovered the ISBI challenge and have been enjoying a break from my normal mode of OCD style.
I *still* would like to see Servo Power Down command initiate mega-super-speed mode the way that sleeping does. Guess I'm just selfish that way :) |
